Hi, in Sweden we are among the most coffee drinkers in the world, more than 8 kilograms per person and year.
Swedish coffee is strong and rich in flavour, actually I have only found espresso to be stronger. But we drink it in rather large cups, something like a triple espresso at a time.
Most people drink it with breakfast in the morning.
Then we have the typical "fika" culture, in mid-morning and in the afternoon at work, when we take a break to chat with our co-workers. It's an absolute must for Swedish working culture!
When we are in Italy we ALWAYS order caffè espresso, but in the mid-morning usually a double espresso! I know that this is not how it's usually done in Italy, but with our own coffee culture it becomes a necessity.
Caffè americano is abhorrent, and actually it is difficult to find good coffee in Europe elsewhere; it's too watery for our taste (even among our neighbors in Denmark!). In the US I don't consider what they drink as coffee. I don't like to have a huge mug, see the bottom of it and find it tasting watery and burnt at the same time.
And I NEVER use milk in my coffee, and rarely sugar.

Regarding coffee, I think many, especially younger, Swedes like cappuccino and caffè latte. I don't like either one.
Our fika is very similar to Italian colazione, actually. Which our breakfast is not. We like sandwiches with cheese, ham, cereals and perhaps eggs for breakfast, coffee and juice to go with it. Not quite as elaborate as "English breakfast" but still. The "fika" pauses at work contains dolce in different forms, most famous of which are the Swedish cinnamon rolls. Some people have a "second breakfast" in the morning fika.

A me piace il caffè, ma lo bevo solo occasionalmente, perchè da solito bevo il thè. Quando bevo un caffè preferisco il latte macchiato.

I noticed that Italian men and women have a very effortless and stylish way of dressing. Sorry, off topic and yes, I love coffee at Starbucks, but I only drink it with milk and iced and decaf, because coffee gives me anxiety, otherwise I would enjoy a good Italian coffee with a yummy Italian cookie for sure!

Il rovescio della medaglia: Una volta ho visto un turista che in un autogrill voleva sapere che tipi di tè avevano...mi ha fatto tenerezza.
In Italia fino a non molti anni fa il tè era un tipo solo e non era specificato (più o meno quello che oggi chiamano English breakfast)

Sono Brasiliano, a me piace il caffè espresso, ma anche quello fatto nella moka che ho imparato com gli italiani. L'americano mi sembra acqua sporca.
Personalmente, preferisco bere il caffè a casa. Nel mio paese (in Giappone) beviamo ‘drip coffee’, ma mi piace bere il caffè fatto con la macchinetta.
Sono catalano e mi piace soprattutto dopo pranzo, con un bicchierino di rum e fumando un buon sigaro toscano...
1 euro e 50 a Milano 😱😱 . Qui a Catania e’ 80 centesimi se è da portare via . Comunque io senza caffè non vivo , però è vero che se ne prendo troppi mi viene l’ansia, quindi prendo a volta quello decaffeinato .

Un affitto costa tre volte che a Catania. Trovo ridicoli questi paragoni. Da sempre il costo della vita ( e quindi pure pure gli stipendi ) è differente da regione a regione .

Il caffe e un rituale per me. Ma non sempre era cosi. Anche 5 anni fa, non bevevo il caffe molto spesso, perche non ho avuto l'abitudine. Ma era un tempo quando dovevo abitare con la mia nonna, e prendermi cura di lei dopo l'incidente. Con lei ho imparato bere il caffe ogni giorno, e da quello tempo non riesco immaginare non berlo anche al lavoro.

In my country we usually drink espresso or americano in the morning and cappuccino in the evening (because it's not so intense and you don't drink it so fast, it's usually 300 - 500 ml, so it can be instead of beer when you are in company with friends or walking alone with headphones). But of course after living some time in Italy, when I went home for holidays I noticed that I don't like that "acquoso" coffee so much anymore.

Coffee costs so little in ITaly that Starsbucks would never do business there lol. I never understand why coffee is so expensive in the UK. Even airports in europe sell cheaper coffee than those found on UK streets
Starbucks coffee costs 5 € here in Italy too, but they were talking about espresso I think, which is much smaller and concentrated

Quando era in Sicilia, mi piaceva di più il caffè solo. Ma in Spagna preferivo caffè con latte. In Polonia preferisco cappuccino o caffè con latte, como in Spagna.

Qui in Argentina, il caffè non è tanto forte come on Italia, ma dipende dal bar. Io a casa prendo tanto caffè, a colazione café latte, poi a mezza mattina, dopo pranzo, a merenda e dopo cena. Lo faccio con la macchina mocca. E come una volta ho avuto gastriti sempre metto un po di latte, e non lo faccio mai forte come in Italia. Ma non posso vivere senza caffè!

Quando prendo il caffè al bar cerco di informarmi prima su quale miscela usa; poi dico al barista di farmi la tazzina bollente; poi gli faccio mettere lo zucchero dentro la tazzina PRIMA di versargli il caffè dentro. Il cucchiaino lo lascio intinto nel caffè solo il tempo di girarlo, poi lo tolgo. Mai prendere il caffè al tavolino, solo al bancone, perché altrimenti il caffè si raffredda.
adoro il caffè. Sempre bevo due o tre volte al giorno. Lo faccio con una moca o french press. E quando vado al bar, molte volte prendo l'espresso o l'americano perche' non mi piace molto altri tipi de caffè. Qui a Cina, a volto, l'americano e' fatta con molta agua e non e' tan forte. A question to Italians (and well, anyone who's a coffee enthusiast)... I have started working at a hotel and of course we serve coffee at breakfast. According to most comments down here I concluded that Italians distinguish between Espreso (It) and Americano (Am), calling the first "corto" and the second "lungo". Hence, Americano = lungo. But on our coffee machine we have two separate coffee types "Americano" and "Lungo"😅 And so there should be a difference. Is there a reason to this, guys?

nope....it's wrong. In Italy we have normal espresso, espresso corto (small espresso) e espresso lungo (big espresso...2times more or less the quantity of the normal espresso). Un lungo isn't a Caffè americano. Caffe americano is another thing. In Italy normally when you ask for americano the barman makes one espresso lungo and add the boiling water.

CAFFÈ LUNGO, when you let the coffee " flow " for longer, and therefore, the coffee is longer than normal. Double espresso, when you use the dispenser for two coffees, and not the single one, making coffee in the time of a simple coffee.

A mi piace il cafe sani zucchere al mattino i dopo pranzo. Si bisogno energie, bevo a metà pomeriggio. È buono incomiciare la giornata ma si bevere molto sto male.No mi piace tanto il sapore ma si il aroma. Capuccino è come il dolce, una caramella. Latte a volte solo per amorbidire il cafè.

I see that you wrote "Io non lo mai bevo con latte". This is correct in English speaking. But the adverb "mai" (=never) is postponed in Italy, so it will go after the verb 'bevo': the correct sentence is "Io non lo bevo mai con il latte" (instead of "Io non lo *mai bevo* con il latte"); also don't forget the article "il" before the word 'latte', which was missing. So: "Io non lo bevo mai con il latte".
As a paradox, you did quite good in the sentence "Lo bevo solo con lo zucchero"! You've put the adverb "solo" after the verb, well done. So, both the adverbs "solo" and "mai" must go after a verb in a present tense. Correct! 👏👍 It also applies with simple past and future simple.
When the auxiliary verbs arrive, you'll just follow the English rule and so put the adverbs in the middle, like in English (I've *never* drunk it with the milk... Io non l'ho *mai* bevuto con il latte...)

I grew up drinking Italian coffee made in "la caffettiera Napolitana' then we started using the "Bialetti" espresso maker. My grandfather used to call American coffee "acqua i purpu" which in the Palermo dialect means octopus water but there are good American roast coffees, it's a matter of taste. I prefer espresso. I especially like the coffee from Rome and in southern Italy, it's the best.

@@manu-ox4fe Absolutely not, just because "latte" in italian means "milk". If you ask for a latte in italy you will get just a cup of milk. X-D Sorry man.
If you want a non italian "latte" in italy you have to ask for a "caffè macchiato" (it sound like "makkiato" not "macciato", [lit. "smudgy"]). Which means espesso with some drops of milk. Or the opposite if you ask for a "latte macchiato" (smudgy milk).
Come Portoghese devo dire che...solo nei nostri due paesi si può bere un espresso decente! E costa 0,70€ :)

Sono russo. Il caffè lo prendo di solito a casa 3-4 volte al giorno aggiungendo del latte (anche il pomeriggio...scusate:) Dopo aver visitato l'Italia faccio molto più attenzione a quale miscela di caffè scegliere, al sapore, al profumo. Peccato che qui da noi non si prenda il caffè al bar come in Italia.
Sono Colombiana🇨🇴 Noi amiamo il caffè❤️ Lo chiamammo “cafecito”, con carino. Non è così di piccolo come l’espresso ma non è una zuppa come l’americano😝 Tradizionalmente abbiamo 3 tipi di caffè: “un tinto” che è nero senza latte; “un perico” che è piccolo, ha latte e spuma; e “un café con leche” che è semplicemente caffè col latte. A me piace molto le varietà di caffè italiani🛵

I'm an Israeli. I once had a guest over from Italy and we had lunch together at a restaurant in Tel Aviv. After the meal, she asked the waitress (in English) for "coffee". The waitress came back with a cappuccino and my guest threw a fit. "What is this?! I asked for coffee!" "This is coffee", replied the waitress. "This is a cappuccino, not coffee! Everybody knows you have coffee with milk only for breakfast!", said my guest. "Not so!", answered the waitress, which was a correct statement, as most Israelis (at least the ladies) do actually prefer a cappuccino after lunch. If you want an espresso, you specifically ask for an espresso. That's the way it works over here. I ended it all by telling the waitress to stop arguing and just get the lady an espresso instead. My Italian friend still maintained that the waitress was a moron for not knowing that 'coffee' could only mean 'espresso'. I thought that was rather narrow-minded of her (kept it to myself, of course).
YEah, narrow minded by her thinking coffe means espresso like in italy and stupid minded waitress thinking coffe means cappuccino... If i ask for COFFEE i want COFFEE, espresso, american, long coffee but COFEEE, not milk, you don't bring milk to someone who didn't ask for it, as much as you know he can be lactose intollerant.

i'm a very sinful italian since i only get coffee once after lunch, and i like to vary what i take, i do sometimes get a cappucino after lunch, but most times i get an espresso (i know i'm in the wrong, forgive me i sin)

Nella Germania il caffè e troppo costoso...( cappuccino 3.50€!, Caffè 2€ / l’ aroma non è paragonabile)
Qui in Svizzera, il caffé costa fra tre e quattro euro! È acqua colorata con un po' di sapore. In Spagna come ha detto il signore il caffé è più italiano e costa come in Italia.
Ma anche in Svizzera si può andare in un bar italiano e prendere un bel caffè. Il mio favorito, il caffé corretto di sambuca.
Invece a me il "caffè corretto" non piace, io voglio sentire l'aroma il gusto del solo caffè.

I have visited Miami several times and I’m always astonished at the quality of their “café cubano” which they like to drink very sweet but I prefer it without sugar. Their coffee is essentially an Italian espresso but somehow a different mix of coffee beans, and it is very good, much better than what one finds at Starbucks and such. To me the closest equivalent of this coffee is the espresso I have had in Napoli, although stronger. I haven’t been able to find much of this great espresso coffee elsewhere in the USA.

I try to drink no more than 3 coffee cups a day. In the morning I add a bit of cold milk because I cannot drink hot beverages. After lunch another one, no milk if I had a good big lunch. The third in a moment X when I feel tired or when I have to drive. Anyway never after 4 p.m. or I won't sleep well. Always strong and short, never more than half a little coffee cup. When it is too watery it makes me sick. Here in Rome it costs 1 euro and it is always a nice break going to a "bar". When you sit outside and not standing at the "banco" it may cost 2 euro but then is a real good break, to talk to a friend or watch people around you.
i celebrate the guy who said he drinks it with grappa. good man. it´s my way as well, when I´m in Italy :D
Ciao, Katie! Ciao, Matteo! A mi me piace)) avere un caffè di mattina. È come un'abitudine per cominciare il giorno. Io compro chicchi di caffè e ogni giorno ho un caffe appena macinato. Uso machinetta per fare un caffè. Mi piace sia il sapore que l'aroma di caffè. In Russa ci sono tanti posti dove si puo prendere un caffè, pero la qualità non è la migliore quindi preferisco prendere caffè a casa in una taza grande(caffè lungo), a volte con un po' di latte. Non bevo il caffè, ma bevo il cappuccino e latte macchiato. Il sapore e il profumo forte non mi piacciono… Però adoro la colazione italiana con un cappuccino e brioche 😋

Mi piace mio caffè due volte per giorni.. La mattina io faccio sempre con moka e aggiungo un po di latte.. mentre dopo pranzo prendo caffè corte espresso... In Malesia abbiamo sempre con zucchero :)
Mi piace il caffè ma di solito bevo il tè. A casa certamente bevo il tè perché ne ho più tipi a casa che al bar. Ma quando sono al bar, provo le bevande con caffeina. Il mio preferito è caffè cubano (la mia famiglia è cubana) e voglio sempre il caffè molto dolce!
Mi piace il caffe tantíssimo perche è calda è comodo, di solito faccio un caffe prima di uscire da casa per la mattina, perché mi sveglio 😅☕, è prendo un caffè dopo pranzo. Quando esco con mia famglia noi piacciamo prendere un caffe ( è forse una torta come un piacere! 🙈) soprattutto quando siamo in vacanza. 😊
