But can you explain this answer more please? *"you will need and HPE SAS expansion card for internal raid or use another raid controller for more that 8 bays in one server"* i have a dl380 g7 with 16 bay.. but 0 raid controllers (other than embedded p410i). do i need 2x raid controllers or 1x raid controller and expansion card to make use of all 16 bays? which is the best way?? i ask both financially and performance. all bays are fitted with 900GB. hi! if you want to be able to make all 16 drives as one array then yes, all of them should be in one raid card. if you want to make separate raids then use 2 raid cards. and about expansion card, already was answered, but here ya go the P/N 468406-B21

i just bought this server. i'm looking to upgrade from 8 bays with 3.5 tbs i want to go to max hdd storage, can you tell me the best/cheapest way to do this. i was thinking doing a cage like you did to get rid of dvd drive, but what hdds do you use, etc. any help is appreciated.

какой Raid Controller стоит в DL380 G7 и он же используется для HP D2700 можно название и Part Number его? просто тоже собрался апгрейдить свой DL380G7 до + 8 SFF (516914-B21) и 8 x 1.2TB SFF (693648-B21) и докупить HP D2600 (AJ940A) + 12 LFF 6TB (782669-B21). у тебя первые 8 SFF которые в сервере работают на p410i встроеном без (468406-B21) HP SAS Expander Card а +8 SFF новые на Райд контролере который в Riser установлен?
может подскажешь HP SA P812 не может использоваться в mix use с HP SW D2600 и HP SW D2700 как я понял а HP SA P822 не работает с G7 и если нельзя использовать в миксе то можно ли поставить 2 x P812 (riser второй есть под PCI-e 2.0 x8) и контролить D2600 с первого и D2700 со второго.
im expanding my hpe dl380 gen10 to 24bays and i already installed my 12gb sas expander. however i got a warning error that says "bay 1 could not be authenticated as a genuine hpe dl380 gen10 drive". Do you know how to fix these error?
Got same error from time. For me it was almost simple, turn off all. Unplug power, psu, make a tea or coffee (what you like most) and plug back in all. It resets my error with non authenticated drive error

nope, i used the same short one. just extended it with soldering. all is working
