I can’t even think about touching my hair because then I’ll get a headache....but I do it anyway lol. I started experimenting around 8 month loc’d. My go to style is the half up half down or pig tails. But I definitely feel you on the difficulty of styling thick locs. I have 49.

Thank you for responding sis. Is this your first set of locs? How old are your babies now?

Greetings, I'm in my 10 month. I've done bantu knots, a small bun half up and down and pin curls. I do feel tension with a ponytail from time to time. Hair pins, head bands and barrettes have been my bf. Your hair looks great...peace Queen

Thank you so much Queen! I have tried bantu knots so far and loved them. Couldn't sleep the best with them, but still loved the results otherwise, haha. How has your journey been thus far while your at your 10 months?

@@travelwla1282 it's been good, this is my second journey. I offen compare this journey to my last set...I really miss my last set. I'm still enjoying the process I notice I'm not in my head as much cause I know what to expect. What I dont like this time around is that I had to marry a few that makes me wanna start over, never had to do that with my first set. If I start all over again I'll let you know. Be safe Queen, many blessing to you.

With my old freeform set I started curling it with sponge rolls at one year. That's the only thing I would do to my hair. I know different head wraps would cause tension. Like the Jersey knitted wraps cause tension because you can pull them tight to fit snug.

I haven't tried the sponge rollers yet, but I definitely will give them a try, probably when I reach 1 yr and a half and I start styling a little bit more, with the longer they get. I have some satin scarves that I use for styling and experimenting, but I tend to just let my hair fall down, just to prevent that tension and then potential breakage.

Right! 😂 the best thing to do is make the buns loose and listen to your hair. When she says she is ready to come down, then she is ready lol

My go to style when my locs were ur length was to braid them back.. I would section them cornrow style and start overlapping them front to back. Try it!! Now my fav style 5 years in is the messy loose bun💯✊🏿😁 have fun !!!

Thank you so much for that suggestion. I just washed my hair and actually decided to do two big braids to give that a try. So far so good :D
