I thought I already knew all about perlite and vermiculite but I learned some new stuff! Thank you
I always wondered what it was so I did some research. I try to add value if I can but I definitely learned myself on that video. Mark
Thank you for sharing Sir.
you are very welcome. best wishes. mark
Great comparison Mark. I use lots of perlite so always get the 100L bulk bags as it works out much better value, which you mentioned. But you definitely do need to be careful with breathing in the dust, speaking from personal experience 😬. I always make sure to use it outside, and adding water to the perlite before pouring it might be worthwhile to reduce the dust. It definitely helps improve drainage in my potting mix though.
Thanks Peter. And thanks for this comment tip for viewers

Thank you
Thanks for this video and all the information. I have often wondered what the difference was between the two products 😊.
Thanks Pauline. Glad it was helpful 😊 mark
I've always used horticultural grit to improve drainage, works very well.
Yes. Me too. Thank you for this contribution. Mark
I love how you tested whether it really was 10 litres. Those bastards! 😂
I know. Total rip off merchants. I recommend a different supplier and bulk bags.
I find vermiculite excellent for my young seedlings Its excellent for water retention and also stops the soil going mouldy on top if you over water by accident like I often do 😬
Thanks for this contribution Cheryl 😊 Mark
because of the cost, I only use vermiculite. I use small pots for germinating seeds, with several seeds to the pot. The vermiculite then aids the pricking out as it keeps the growing medium nice and loose.
Great additional tip. Thanks Andy.
Don't you hate false advertising, scoundrels!
I know!! Quite shocking 🙂
so did your plants grow better in compost with vermiculite or just pure compost?
Hi Mike. Thanks for watching this and commenting. In all honesty. Events overtook me and I never got my tomatoes planted. Sorry. The compost with vermiculite was used for several other projects. Mark
could i just use shredded styrofoam that my airfryer came in instead of perlite?
Where’s the follow up video?
I emailed them and had zero response. I tried to put a review but it got deleted somehow. I now buy it in much bigger bags from a different supplier. Mark
Take a tomato put it in earth water it, the tomato will decay and the tomato seeds will sprout…
i will try this one day. thank you. mark
