I had a lucid dream this morning. A hungry puppy had entered my house through a slightly ajar door. You could see his bones through his skin. In my dream, I noticed his hunger and decided to feed him. But what I said to him was, " you shouldnt be here". There was a resistance to his presence inside my "house". Couple of hours later this video came onto my screen. May Avalokiteshwara remove this resistance! May I be of service!

Listening to (or watching) his earlier teachings online will help you gloss over some of these sorts of difficult points. Thubten Jinpa's translations are quite consistent, and (like any public speaker) HHDL frequently repeats himself from one speaking engagement to the next - though there's no denying, either, that sometimes he launches so quickly into highly technical philosophical language that it's practically impossible for anyone not fluent in Tibetan to follow him at all. All I guess I'm really saying here is don't let it chew you up inside about your karma, and don't let yourself get stopped by the mere speed bump of a single passage you don't hear. It'll come around again. :)

Isn't it wonderful!? Our lifetimes have been so lucky! We went to such effort to get to India when we were young. Conditions were very difficult. Some of us lost our lives for this dharma, and many of us got very sick seeking it under those conditions. Now its available to everyone everywhere without any danger from bandits or illness! Its really amazing. I can only thank His Holiness again and again for taking a chance on us, directing great lamas to teach us, when we were just out of college and still inexperienced in so many things.

I feel I must add. When we pass through the immediate state, in the first five days, five families of Buddhas will be casting their light so that we could catch on. Avalokiteshvara is one among these five families, so definitely reciting the mantra as a way of familiarizing yourself with Avalokiteshvara does help a great deal. If you can, include visualization of Avalokiteshvara emitting bright light will help enormously too, as in the immediate state, beings shy away from source of bright light and incline toward darker, more “pleasing” lights without knowing that the darker. lights are the path to lower rebirths. Please look for the PHOWA teachings, there are detailed descriptions and instructions there. I only have it in my language, Vietnamese. Hope that helps.

Could anyone tell me, am I technically empowered if I do not watch this life? Desperate to be empowered because my visualization of Avalokiteshvara is very weak despite my strong aspirations.
I’m probably not the best to answer this but since no one has gotten back to you yet I’ll say what I can. On the actual empowerment video HHDL says, iirc, that he gave the empowerment to everyone on earth as that seemed easier to him than just to those watching the live stream. So technically I guess yes. But I received a transmission for a practice for an online retreat earlier this year and those teachers said the transmission is valid enough to do the practice but still get the transmission and/or empowerment in person when possible as that helps. But others may say otherwise so take it for what you will. Take care
