  • In a year where people have found increasing solace in, and drawn creative inspiration from the natural world, we invite you to participate in and enjoy ‘Drawn to Nature; Insects’. Join Museum Head of Life collections, Zoe Simmons, to hear about the natural history and conservation status of some of the planet’s most varied and important creatures, the insects, before taking a chance to draw your own using the Museum’s specimens as inspiration with Q+A’s in this online, interactive science and art workshop. Make sure to have your art materials to hand!

metamorphism blows my mind, its like evolution. Starts as a worm, ends up a flying bug. Thats two different creatures.

Insects have 6 legs, I haven't seen anything to the contrary since I was told that as a 7yr old.

Mosquitos are Diptera too, but they belong in suborder Nematocera. I am not sure about English words but those flies which Zoe talked belong to another suborder Brachycera.
