- In a year where people have found increasing solace in, and drawn creative inspiration from the natural world, we invite you to participate in and enjoy ‘Drawn to Nature; Insects’. Join Museum Head of Life collections, Zoe Simmons, to hear about the natural history and conservation status of some of the planet’s most varied and important creatures, the insects, before taking a chance to draw your own using the Museum’s specimens as inspiration with Q+A’s in this online, interactive science and art workshop. Make sure to have your art materials to hand!

Thank you for all of your videos.
I have never loved anything as much as Zoe loves flies.
Wonderful! Great session from Zoe and Chris, interesting, informative and fun
Brilliant 🪰 Thank you 😊
metamorphism blows my mind, its like evolution. Starts as a worm, ends up a flying bug. Thats two different creatures.
In what part of the body is their control system?
Insects have 6 legs, I haven't seen anything to the contrary since I was told that as a 7yr old.
I will crawl to the corner my of ceiling and make a cocoon. Kafkalike.
Where do mosquitos fit in are they flies too?
Mosquitos are Diptera too, but they belong in suborder Nematocera. I am not sure about English words but those flies which Zoe talked belong to another suborder Brachycera.
