Mary is Dale Bozio who along with her husband Terry Bozio, drums, Warren Cuccurullo, guitar and Patrick O'Hearn on bass, all of whom are on this album, formed Missing Persons.
Remember, it was the police who suggested he stick closer to church oriented social activities. This song was also kind of a riposte to his song "Jewish Princess", which stirred some controversy. Zappa was letting folk know he's equal opportunity. You're in for a fun ride with these albums and I'm there for it. Blessings.
This album was a response to the PMRC movement of the time. Check out some Zappa interviews from that period. He was a brilliant man. Sad we lost him so early.
So it looks like you are taking the Joe's Garage tour. Catholic Girls is fun, humorous and that odd metered sequence in the middle of the song is great. Darker? Well, L. Ron Hoover and the Church of Appliantology is coming up so draw your own conclusions.
Now you see, some places in the Third World it might be difficult to dance to this because the kerosene record player is not a very efficient device.. .And a lot of times they run out of, they run out of spunk right in the middle of the chorus... Causing the song to sound like this...
I love the bridge. "Right away, that's how they go." Spectacular chord changes in that part. Yeah, Frank could be real mean spirited. The next few albums kind of lose me. He went from the enlightened social criticism of his early work into something uglier and misogynistic.

The drummer on this album is Vinnie Colaiuta.
Terry was FZs previous drummer.
Most of the bass parts are played by Arthur Barrow.
Terry Bozzio only shows up as the voice of Bald Headed John "make way for the iron sausesh"
Dis girl mus be pakisin rich-craft
You have to listen to the whole album in a row, to appreciate it. The best opera ever.
It's an electric sitar made br Dan Electro called the Coral it's a six string guitar with the twelve resonatinng strings underneath the guitar strings
I heard this a few years back on the classic rock station on cable tv at a Pizza Hut. Nobody noticed and I just grinned.
Darker? Ha ha ha. Oh it gets much darker, and more sordid. But some of the best guitar work comes on the back part of the album so please don’t stop.
Should someone tell John S. what the song "Keep it Greasy" is about... or let him figure it out...! LoL

And just to throw a jab back at the ADL, at the very end of this song, the melody of Jewish Princess is played. Brilliant.
@@Royale_with_Cheeze exactly. The ADL has always been composed of pricks haha
There's a musical reference to "Jewish Princess". Also not PC. I love Zappa's humor.

Wasn't this 1978
Rockin Satire with Jazz and Lounge sprinklings. 🤔😆
Joe's adventures begin, sticking closer to supervised organized activities.

Zappas shit music without sense sounds like diarrhea, is suitable for flushing the toilet 😂
Australia troll, are you still teaching here? 😂😂😂
No emulating at the time ! One of my favorite Zappa albums. Really funny and politically incorrect…
Wow , taking the whole journey. Great
Acts 1-2-3 listened in order will propel you into the fourth dimension. It is a beautiful experience.
Love to see folks find Frank, I only know because a friend showed me lol, but I'd checkout Roxi Live ....Penguins in Bondage is pretty awesome.
next listen to Jewish Princess, by Zappa
Throws in a little DooWop too!
The white zone is for loading and unloading only

Interesting concept rock opera album. Overrated and sales were not as good as many "vinnie" fans believed.
Honestly I think Zappa is lost on you but thanks for trying.
Live version is bettah
