Question! How do you usually set up your perspective grid? And do you use a ruler tool to lay down your lines that follow the grid? ^^ Your backgrounds are always so impressive. I need to get better at them myself.

Ayyy the Sylvestris squad out shopping. Nice! :D
Also, those reference shots from the Polish stores might as well be pulled from a Croatian store haha xD

omg the old żabka logo brought back so many memories,,,, i'd love to achieve your level of drawing background so i could add some easter eggs like that too + draw my favorite characters in some alternative setting. your videos have helped me a lot already, so i look up to every new one. however i was wondering if you could make a video about drawing multiple characters in one piece? sometimes when i draw two or more characters, i struggle a bit with proportions, making the characters look out of place. i don't know if it's a me thing, or if people find that hard too.

to 2 minute. I WISH the art community would return to "you have to draw everything from mind" nowadays the most just copy references without giving credits is just again not excusable and theft. I say it as artist myself. Like you do you go and look how a characters clothes or colors are then you go back that's okay. but many just simply copy the pose, copy the shading copy everything and can't draw anything themselves. if you never draw something out of your mind then you will never learn it. I draw hole manga/fancomics from my mind. the only ref i open is my own comic page for consistency of border. if you palette save the colors you frequently use in clip you even don't need to open refs for colors anymore. it IS possible and it can look good if people just would try.
of course there are things that make many things easier , 3d assets, whole rooms, whole background to copy paste, using AI to generate pieces for you, using 3d models - but the trend that these people are often prefered to some who draw it all out of their mind but it will maybe not look "perfect" is a very disgusting one

@@glasperle77 do what works for you ^^ using different materials and resources is industry standard (for example background art in anime is often based from photos) and I think being able to take something and transform it into your own thing is also a skill. (obviously with respect to the original creator and not stealing)
I really appreciate your sentiment and thanks for the input!

I kind of understand your sentiment, but it is a very toxic mindset to say that using references is a lesser method than drawing from the mind. Yes, it’s good to be able to envision some things from your imagination. But like the artist here said, it’s industry standard to use references and materials to help streamline the process. Not having a clear idea can make things go slower. Good for you if you can “draw a whole comic from your mind”. But I doubt it’s going to look as polished as someone who uses references. Not to be rude.
