I wish you reviewed the base model instead, as not everybody can afford the top of the line model. At the very least, you should've mentioned the differences. And the steep incline? Sure, but better if you had 3 or 4 other passengers with you, plus luggage... Now that would be a more convincing uphill test.

Had this vehicle for more than a year. Still performs very well. Nothing fixed. Nothing replaced. Unlike my japanese brand suv and american brand pick up that were bought after this car - they already had factory parts problems and replacements.

@@henrychua880 Thank you for your reply and info 😊 I'm getting more impressed with GAC 👏. Guess the company really learned a lot from Toyota and Honda 👍. As for your SUV and pickup (N***n and F***d), hope they will be fixed long term.

Transmission from Aisin? That should make it more reliable than Nissan CVTs.

@@red_ashcroft Wise move for them to source vital components from companies known to make reliable parts. All those you mentioned are Japanese brands which would of course have proven Japanese standards. Quite different from a Chinese brand manufacturing in China with yet to be proven standards. I trust though that just like Korean brands, these new breed of Chinese brands would shine. It's just a matter of time if they consistently aim for quality and identity.

@@newrandom3066 Most Chinese company strategies rely on having local markets produce vehicles for their own respective countries. GAC started by producing parts and vehicles for Japanese manufacturers and not for themselves. They have established their brand after, signing several mergers left and right to produce their own, Unlike JAC and Geely who went to Europe for developing their vehicles. Chery meanwhile started with groundbreaking engines and focused reliability. Geely in turn 'bought' companies from stakeholders and established their brand above instead alongside their merged companies. The history of the automotive industry in China is so diverse and complicated that generalising their products as "just made in China" is just plain foolish. Here in the Philippines we already laud the extravagance of a Camry, while in China, it's just a regular car with a weak "naturally aspirated" engine. As of this moment China's mid-level cars are all sporting 200-300Hp alongside powerful motors from affordable Tesla level type of EVs.

@@red_ashcroft I would consider those to be initial moves to establish themselves. Their case isn't new. I'm not saying that Chinese brands suck because they're "just made in China" but just as with Korean cars, they need more time for people to embrace what they can offer. Even Hyundai relied on Mitsubishi parts back in the day. On that other topic you raised, every knowledgeable car enthusiast knows that the Camry is just another Toyota sedan. Anything that fits the description of big, expensive, consumes more gas than usual and has leather seats tend to be lauded as extravagant by common Pinoys. It doesn't really matter if mainland Chinese perceive whatever car as regular, it's a matter of what people experience. I mean, a BMW is just a regular car in many parts of Europe.

Brand new, sure. 2 or 3 years down the road? Well, that's where the real test is. China quality looks nice and seems very technologically advanced when new, but after some time, you'll see why it's cheaper; longevity is always the real issue. Don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful, but I'm not convinced just yet.
