I think they're not physically abusive but that they don't realize they're emotionally abusive. Bob for all his faults and how intimidating he is he doesn't come across as physically abusive. This family just needs a therapist or 12 and all the sessions in the world, but they're fixable
I agree, Bob has anger issues, which Helga definitely inherented among other traits of Bob's, and they do need therapy. Even when Bob had that near death experience (which I didn't mention because it didn't fit with the video theme, lol), he went to another extreme before realizing the concept of moderation 😆
Great review. Bob and Miriam, another example of the saying: Every child deserves parents, but not every parent deserves children. That cheese whiz/shaving cream joke was good.😂 Yes, I would love to see a review on "Summer Love", I didn't see that episode as a child snd only learned of it when I switched to Nick at Nite several years ago.
My family was just like the Patakis, except I have the same expectations of Olga but treated like a troublemaker like Helga. It’s exhausting. I’m supposed to be perfect and performative, but I always fall short. So now I’m becoming a high school teacher to help out students like me growing up. I never want other kids to struggle the way I did. Unrealistic, sure, but I still want to help.
I don't think its fair to say that helga gaslit olga into going to Antarctica. Helga sat olga down and was very clear and mature about where she wanted their boundaries to be. all of which olga promptly ignored. i also have to say that hanlon's razor is in play here. telling that story to the class olga is either stupid or was being deliberately malicious
I respectfully disagree. Oga clearly cares for Helga. We only see Helgas perspective of things. Since we didn't follow Olga's upbringing, we don't know how Bob or Miriam raised her, and besides Helga shouldn't take the way she was ignored by Bob and Miriam out on Olga, but we have to be ok with Helga pushing her sister away? Helga should try and understand Olga's perspective and not resent her, but that's my. Hoot In The Dark, lol. Thanks for watching and giving your feedback
@oooh19 Well, to be fair, she wasn't intending to embarrass her sister, but it wasn't the best example, lol. Also, Helga's resentful attitude towards Olga wasn't because of Olga, Bob, and Miriam ignoring Helga and making Olga the center of their universes is what created the rift. I just can't justify Helga wanting nothing to do with Olga when she didn't do anything but be Helga's older sister.

My condolences to you.
It must have been incredibly traumatising
i personally think both helga and olga should be taken away by child protective services and that way they can bond as normal sisters

@@hootinthedarkyea but Olga should’ve known better than to blab about Helga’s bed wetting ! That’s humiliating!
