    So disappointing. Back in the day, Cuisinart was the gold standard for the home kitchen...I have a few of their appliances that are excellent. This one looks gimmicky. Excellent Esther demo. 👍

      Yes I did report a comment about wanting the employees replaced by robots. McDonalds workers work their asses off. So to whoever commented that you need to get the stick out of your butt and have some more damn respect. It's not easy working for McDonalds. Just the normal crew are not trained to properly clean the big machines. Its not their job. The maintenance staff at each location works hard to keep things clean and clean the machines regularly. So stop being rude. Thanks

    Hello, nice review, I’ve have mine for 8 years now and it still works as good as new. I bought 2 extra bowls so that I could make more when needed. 25-30 minutes is a good time for firm ice cream, when the bowl is about 3/4 full. Don’t fill it to the top because as the ice cream firms it will oooz through the top opening. You have to get a few applications under your belt to perfect your craft with this machine, I love it. I’ve recreated my moms ( RIP) recipe from the 70’s to make my soft serve 🍦. And ice cream cookies.

    Hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I've had this gadget since childhood and it works a lot better than shown here.
    You have to let the ice cream mix longer so it gets thicker. Also, you have to rotate the cone in order to make a nice looking swirl. Lastly, only small mix-ins work like mini m&ms or sprinkles, otherwise they get stuck.
    Still though, you're probably better off with a more compact machine so it takes up less storage space.

    Mean no rudeness, but we have this machine and have been using it for a while . We very rarely ever have any issues. Admittedly, the swirl in feature does not work well, but we almost never have problems with the ice cream. The only real problem we have with that part is it getting too cold. We use the enclosed recipe, and pre-made soft serve mix. Always a good treat! You have to make sure you put the bowl in the coldest part of your freezer and let it sit overnight! I also recommend putting a paper plate or something on top, it helps keep the cold from leaking out the top.

      Well honestly it would probably have turned out better if she was facing the machine and turning her wrist properly and holding it closer to the dispenser. That's how you get the pretty swirl you see when you get it from McDonalds and other places that sell soft serve cones. It's all about technique and practice. Trust me it's not easy to make a cone look good

    You'll have much more controllable and almost certainly superior results from a standard Cuisinart ice cream machine that is less expensive and makes ice cream exactly the same way. Ice cream comes out soft serve from any ice cream machine. Sometime people mix it a little more if eating it straight from the machine. This unit is a big, bulky, glamorized piping bag. That's right, you can spoon the ice cream out of any ice cream machine into a plastic bag and make your perfect swirls with that. They also do mix-ins. You don't need storage on the side of the machine. You can only do one batch at a time anyway with a single frozen canister unit. This is a big gimmicky plastic thing to appeal to kids and impulse buyers. Just get the $50 Cuisinart, much smaller, and you can spoon or pipe the ice cream soft serve into a cup or cone. Or freeze it after churning for hard ice cream.

    Super bad design over all. Too tall for counter top use. Can make a soft serve once only!! The soft serve stream is horrible. They could have added a sensor to understand it’s hard to churn and then stop so that you get soft serve and not ice cream. The toppings (mixins lol) just don’t work!!!

    • @TheSweetestCocoa
      @TheSweetestCocoa 6 років тому +11

      Mihir Panchal I guess they were trying so hard to keep the product at a low price point they slacked on the actual design and usability to just push them in people’s faces. If they increase the price and make a better product it would definitely be great. It’s a nice idea but poor planning and execution. The design itself is just so clunky and weird I definitely wouldn’t want that on my beautiful marble counter tops. Make it sleek and beautiful, add a bit more technology and bump up the price and it could be a showstopper for a trendy kitchen.

The machine isn't perfect but it's not the disaster she made it out to be. Our ice cream is thicker and doesn't melt like in the video. I would rate it a 7/10. Also, it's VERY easy to clean! I'd give it a 7/10.

  • @devinspringman1262
    @devinspringman1262 6 років тому +21

    Keep in mind that while it's is just ice cream, it's still food. If you take a recipe and remove components from it, like egg yolks, you aren't going to get what you're expecting. Ice cream bases are best made ahead of time and chilled as much as possible. Refrigerating them overnight will certainly ensure it is cold enough. If you need it on the spot, an ice bath works. The churning bowls themselves are best stored in the freezer. Putting these things together, it's possible to pull more than one batch at a time. The price point is decent. Not many electronic devices cost less than that, let alone cookware. Swirling ice cream into a cone takes practice, not to mention, it's designed to be done from the front of the machine, not behind. If the machine were any shorter, it would probably be difficult to decent hight to ice cream itself.

    I gave a very positive review a few days ago. Now I’ll add to the review by hopefully helping the author of this video out some. I tried the ingredients stated in this video ( heavy whipping cream, milk & sugar) and I set my timer for 25 minutes for 4 cups of custard, mine turned out very good. As I made several cups of ice cream after each cup I let the machine run a little longer between fills and the ice cream became more firm as the container emptied. Though my ice cream was firm, it wasn’t as firm as having the egg in the custard. This recipe won’t firm up as the custard containing eggs will. Eggs are normally used to bond ingredients together and make for the end results of your product to hold steady as well. I would highly recommend this machine. By the way, when I make my cones with the egg in the custard, they do not melt within minutes of being served.

  • @brozors

    I have the standard ice cream maker and it is just an awful piece of junk. The main problem is that the ice container has no way to maintain its cold temperature and it becomes a race in time to make ice cream once you get it out of the freezer.

      I also have the standard ice cream maker. Look people...it ain't rocket science! Just make sure your bowl is frozen solid and your mix is super chilled. Don't screw around like I've seen in alot of other demonstration videos, take the bowl out of the freezer and pour the CHILLED mix in the bowl and turn it on. Simple.

    • @RS-dm4yo
      @RS-dm4yo 3 роки тому +1

      Not really. What I do is make sure my bowl is cold as possible. I set my freezer to max cold and let it sit in there for 24 hours. For the cream base, chill in fridge, and then, 1.5 hours before churning, I put in freezer to get it super, super cold. Once I'm finished churning, the bowl is still frozen rock solid. I could still do another quart. And the ice cream maker I have is really cheap too.

    Okay, let’s be honest here.. it works. It takes a lot of effort, but IT WORKS. One thing I didn’t like in this review is that the girl did not even do that much in making the cone a bit presentable. I mean, if you want it to look similar to a soft-serve cone then at least maneuver the cone so the soft serve will dispense properly. The cones look messy because the girl did not even bother to make it look good and I don’t know why. And of course it’ll melt faster because it’s a soft serve.
    But I do agree that the mix-ins thing is a no-no.

    if you churned it longer it wouldnt be soupy and melting as fast, but would still be soft serve, you under churned it, thats your fault, also the reason it wont stay up on the cone.

    The basic Cuisinart Ice Cream maker will give you the same product just without a pretty presentation in the cone. The regular Ice Cream Maker doesn't get cold enough to make anything except soft ice cream.

      Well the machine is specifically for soft serve not ice cream. If you had a normal ice cream maker you would have to scoop it like a regular ice cream

    I bought the Cuisinart automatic frozen yogurt ice cream and sorbet maker, ICE 21 series last Wednesday on Amazon prime day, but was looking at this particular machine because I love soft serve. I didn’t see the video before I bought my ice cream maker, but I’m really glad that I’ve seen it now so I know I made the right decision. I was toying with the idea of exchanging it but I’m not going to return mine and buy this one. Thank you very much for the great video! 👍🍨

    So i actually have this machine at home, it works perfect if you put a little less mixture into it. the ice cream turns out so much more smoother and thicker. although if you do use a bigger batch just prefreeze the ice cream for approx 2 hours stirring the mixture every 30 minutes.

    I really can’t believe all the negative comments. This demonstration is bullsh**. She didn’t let the ice cream churn long enough to be more solidified, also everyone can’t swirl the cone perfectly, like she works at Dairy Queen. She was all over the place, besides making it homemade allows your own flavors and you control what’s in it. This is also a fun activity with your kids...Love mine.

    It's actually priced very reasonably, but it just doesnt work the same as a real soft-serve machine. Better to spend the money on a normal ice cream machine, because at least those work as intended.

    It's soft serve. It melts fast. McDonalds machine costs in the thousands I'm sure...so let's get a soft serve from McDonalds and set it on the counter, too...I usually don't make it out of the drive thru before it's dripping. For the price, I'm impressed you got over 6 cones from one mix.
