Excelent review!!. I have a Hennessy VSOP and I am running to buy Swiss Chocolate!!.
This was an awesome review. Just got my bottle. Now I need some Swiss milk chocolate.
Just had this at a bar. Very elegant, full and rich. Fruity, sweet, some spiciniess. It was actually not that far off from a Highland Single Malt Scotch. I thought there would be a bigger difference. I guess there is some different "base taste" for the newmake. For the malt a malty sweetness and for the grapes some sweet-sour fruitniess but looks like most of the taste comes from the casks which can be similarly used in scotch and cognac as well?
What I love about my scotch and cognac is to pair them with a good cigar. I love henesy, remy Martin and also Martel. Very expensive hobby but so pleasurable. Once you enjoy it that is the important thing and making it money well spent.
Great review. Thanks for sharing.
I only drink X.O. COGNACS because of reviews very much like this video man I love how you in fine details explain look, nose, palate great job
Great review! Thank you! I would love to see you review the Courvoisier XO as well. I think that it is a little more reasonable for cost and maybe a better value.
I would like to review it but not available for sale where I live. I have some other reviews of cognac you might want to check out.
Great review, Jason! One of these decades I'm going to break down and get some Cognac... So far, it's baby steps. I tried sherry and port for the first time this weekend. I preferred the port to the sherry, but it may have been an exceptionally good port and it may have been a so-so sherry. The only way to know for sure is to try as many as I can just like with the whisky... Life is too short!
foodquig I think you would like cognac. Probably the best of the widely available ones is the Hennessy VSOP. Cheers!
One of these months I will get the courage up... I'll make sure I have some really good milk chocolate to go with it.
I'm not a Cognac drinker, but I tried the Hennessey Blenders Batch No. 2. It was delicious. $90 in New Jersey.
HENNESSY MASTER BLENDER'S SELECTION NO. 2 is nice stuff! It may convert you to the magic of cognac!
They dranking regular henny in clubs
I have this same Cognac Extra Old Hennessy XO. However, mine is numbered 19 of 150. I received this as a thank you and it came in a bigger box with two glasses as well. What would the value of something like this be? Would it being numbered mean anything or add to the value? Basically I want to know how special it is so I know if I should just drink it or just hang on to it and not open it. Thank you and awesome detailed review with all of the notes and flavors. I have not had cognac before and now I am intrigued.
U really should do this in asmr form. Very relaxing....
Sounds good Jason, thanks for the review's.
You are welcome. Good to hear from you and I trust you are having a good summer!
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you, from South Africa 🌍
Hello from Cape Town 😄 Im waiting for lockdown to end so I can go buy this bottle.
Jason Debly-Hennessy,Martell,Courvoisier or Remy Martin, which you like?
great review! thx
great review, I have to try this one as my first cognac. One question though, why do you use this glass in the review compared to the bigger glass in the Remy Martin review? This is the glass I use for my scotch but for cognac I am not sure if it makes a difference or not - thanks for letting me know :)
Men this is so relaxing. Question, I have my first cognac last week and it was Martell Golden bleu and It was really good but for some reason I was expecting something sweeter or smoother and it was very elegant with low alcohol burn and thats plus for me but I don’t enjoy the alcohol burn. Will you have any recommendations for me? Btw great job I watch you from 🇵🇷 👍
Great review Jason, this is one of my preferred XO's
Yes, it is very good and I forgot to mention that it is superior to Remy Martin XO and Courvoisier XO. Hope all is well. Love your channel!
I tried the Prive and Paradis and those are exceptional, I'd agree as I find Hennessy XO much better then its competitors. Thank you
Thanks for this review, my friend! Upstairs downstairs and back up again :) Please do it outside, if possible (Summer scene, ya) Cheers!
LaLa I finally bought a mic for better sound so outside is now possible. Thanks!
Nice review buddy.
Thanks! I think I am hooked on those Arturo Fuente Don Carlos by the way. Take care!
Jason buddy..are you a politician.
Jason Debly I totally agree..thanks for inspiring me to give the XO a try.
can you review Courvoisier xo?
How would the sweetness of this compare to the Hennessy VSOP?
The XO is a little dryer than the V.S.O.P.
If you like a dry cognac try De Luze XO. Beautiful stuff!
I got my first bottle of XO , l can't wait to taste for the first time
I bought one with a 3 years interest free financing. :-). still paying the monthly dues.
Would you recommend this to someone new to whisky and who has never had whisky before
Yes, absolutely, but a much cheaper option that I would recommend even more is Hennessy VSOP. Very smooth, not offensive in any way, and a great place for someone new to spirits to start.
quick question this is for the people on budgets, can milk chocolate go with whiskey like u know jack daniels or crown royal???
By any chance have you tried the Hennessy Master Blenders No. 1?
No, I have not. Also not available where I live so not likely to do so in the foreseeable future.
This man right here is called a gentleman, nothing more nothing less. Love it
I have 4 bottle of these at home standing in the cupboard for 20 years ,given to me for christmas years ago, will it go off?
Should be ok. All depends on whether or not the cork has dried out. If it has, you risk oxygen infiltration into the bottle that can spoil the spirit.
Only one way to find out. Pop the cork!
"Me and my friends"=Reidel, Glencairn, and Schott :)
Is there any way to know which cognacs add boisé to their product? Boisé is far more disturbing than E150A, though I'd rather not have that either. Cheers!
Cognac Park makes an additive free cognac called Fins Bois Single Cru Organic Cognac. Google additive free cognac and check this out "www.thecognacforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=355"
I do not believe Cognac producers are under any obligation to disclose additives. The big houses seem to be all doing it. Mr. Hotti's link is an excellent source on the matter.
here is another with no additives and with age statement www.cognacpruniertravelretail.com/age-statement-cognacs.php
#30th Thumbs up, Shared, and Subbed!
I think the older Hennessy XO have a much longer age and the recent stuff is average.
Korea!!! 한쿡사람??
FYI guys that shit he’s drinking is $200+
So leave a like
Keep Up The Cognac Reviews Jason , I Collect Cognac As A Hobby Haha , But Great Review Jason Well Done :)
Your Very Welcome Jason , Would you be able to do a review on a French Cognac called Baron Otard ?
Ryan Gould I think it is available in Ontario. I have friends and family who go there. I will try and get them to grab a bottle for me. So a review will come eventually. I have read good things about it.
ahh that's brilliant Jason , Will Be Looking Forward To The Review Eventually :)
Does Hennessy XO taste like Remy XO?
Hennessy XO is smoother. Remy is slightly more coarse with some more spice.
👍👍👍
Hennessy has some of the darkest color I’ve seen in any cognac/brandy (VS, Privilege, and XO). I do hope this is not from added coloring.
They definitely do add E150a.
Most cognac producers do. It is hard to find one that doesn't but there are a few.
Also you might want to research 'boise' as that is an additive to cognac carried out by a lot of producers.
How much did you get that cognac? I read most XO cognac are aged below 10 years because of very high demand. Even if they say it has 70 year old eau de vie, it might be in very small amounts like less than 5%.
The 70 year old stuff would be in minute quantities, agreed. Here is a link to the site that makes the age claims:
blog.cognac-expert.com/hennessy-xo-review-henny-tasting/
Somehow i don't believe that. I just cant believe they can keep selling cognac at that age in enormous quantities. That post was 2010, i bet their blend has changed significantly since then. Nobody won't notice anyway since most people who buy Cognac buy it as a status symbol.
I agree the age statements seem extreme and now I regret stating that in the review.
I could see tiny quantities of 70 year old eau de vie, but an average age of 45 years seems not possible on the mass level of production this producer engages in.
Anyway, I did leave a comment on that website questioning the veracity of that age statement claim. If they reply will advise.
This is the downside of my unscripted and unedited reviews.
Good thing there are still cognac/armagnac producers who put an age statement albeit very few and hard to find.
Geez a good 3
how can you be so pretentious and not at the same time haha love the review btw
They actually use sugar and colouring in Hennessy :(
Thx Commander

Price per bottle ?
Lane Xang
It is always expensive. Price will vary depending on where you purchase. Where i live it is $225 Canadian a bottle.
which is smoother Hennessey or Martel Xo
@@JasonDebly Hennessey was good , but i am trying to find a no alcohol taste no burn no leather no bite
, i tried duesse , martel swift , remy martin vsop but i am trying to find a velvet smooth congnac ?
@@southshore8911 Hennessy VSOP is about the closest to what you are seeking. I am not sure there is another cognac that would have what you are looking for. Maybe consider Irish whisky like Bushmills Black or Bushmills 10 years.
What type of Molly’s did this guy drop before this video?
U got great taste . Not much people can taste the goodness of hennessy xo . Especially asians , they just drain it down thier throat . This my favourite xo cognac . I kept many of its limited editions. Second is remy martin xo .
Hallo 🖐️
Тамаша
Average age is 45 years? Unbelievable
I know hard to believe but I read it in a couple different sources. Bottom line is though this is a fine cognac as it should be for the price.
Average Age of 45 years for Hennessy XO cannot be true. I have to state this because people should not be mislead and buy this XO because of supposed 45y age.
Yes, you are correct. My mistake. My source was completely wrong. I may delete this review and review re-record it with out this in accuracy. Thanks.
They probably dont publish official number anymore, but I'd say 15-25 or maybe up to 30y like most XOs. The prices for 40y+ are way above $500. Usually an av. age of 45y would not be sold as an XO, but rather as an Hors D'Age. Legally XO is min.age of 10y at least for the youngest destilate and you would expect a tilt towards younger if one claims 10-40y eau-de-vies.
Uriel Nakach you sound like you know a lot. Can you look at my vintage louis 13 video on my channel and give me your thoughts on there or guess of value? Thanks
I liked it so much I drank an entire bottle in 3 days, it’s nirvana.
헤네시는 여기 내가 다살께
After all that you didn't compare the XO to the regular VS or VSOP Hennesssy? You got to be freakin' kidding me,
Here is a separate review of Hennessy VSOP: ua-cam.com/video/Dr-7LtC6s3Y/v-deo.html
Don’t let that henny in my system, I catch a body next day I forget it.

OK, I have a prediction: The guy who makes these videos is a lawyer (probably criminal defense) who is on the political left. Has to be. I know the type. Am I right?
Appearances can be deceiving. While I am a lawyer, not a criminal lawyer, I am on the political right somewhat and work for government regulating insurance and pensions industry. I try not to think in terms of right and left, but what makes sense.
I am a fan of Winston Churchill and hold the believe that the State can't solve all problems (but do support medicare). A positive attitude, a work ethic and a bit of luck can take you far. Read the Churchill Factor.
Well I got the lawyer part right. Sounds like we agree on more things than not. Good day, sir.
For God's sake stop with the pregnant pauses and the rambling dialogue. Just get to the review!
keep the cognac reviews coming, great content!
Thanks!
