I had to send in an Angel of Death to kill my pet ants. My supercolony of yellow crazy ants, called the Golden Empire, have been gravely infected by parasitic blood-sucking #mites, and our last hope to save them lay in the results of a critical #experiment where we tested to see if predatory Hypoaspis mites, harvested from one of our #RhinoBeetles, would eat the parasitic ant mites. When the results of the experiment came in this week, I was left with no choice but to take drastic action.

I'm a new AC fam member and just love watching your videos. I'm normally not that loving of insects bit your channel has changed my perception of these wonderful creatures.
I’ve decided I’m not using Netflix and Disney + because the second I discovered this channel, I was delighted with the entertainment.
Oh great. You're treating your audience which is obviously mostly adults as if they are children. Clickbait and cliffhangers are insulting.
It's actually a tried and tested, effective story telling device. If the cliffhanger has you upset, then it's doing its job. I bet its guaranteed that you will be back to see the next video despite complaints. It doesnt matter what age you are, this fact will never change which honestly doesn't make it an insult in the least. The clickbait however... that's a different story

Please please please do not start doing the cliffhanger thing again. It didn't work out last time, and it isn't working out now.
I am genuinely interested and concerned in the status of the Golden Empire - it happens to be my favorite colony on your channel - and I do not need all the extra narrative, padding, and cliffhangers to keep me interested in the goings-on within the terrarium. I watched this video with the expectation of seeing an explanation for why the experiment you were performing apparently wasn't to your satisfaction, and then a follow-up on the 'Angel of Death' and the biology behind why you chose it and what it would do. In the end I felt disappointed and like my emotions had been played with, which I think is not the reaction you were hoping for.
The things that happen within your colonies and the interconnectedness of all the life-forms within your terrariums are easily interesting and engaging enough WITHOUT all the padding and cliffhangers and whatnot. I subscribed to your channel back in early 2017 because I was INCREDIBLY impressed by your nature documentary approach, and your philosophical lessons on the incredible beauty of all of this planet's creatures and the intricacies of the Earth's biological processes. That's the content I subscribed for, and if you continue with your current approach, I will be unsubscribing, as this is fundamentally different from what made me fall in love with your channel.

He said the mite experiment worked, he quarantined the majority of the colony, and is releasing something else to kill the survivors in OG space so mites don't spread to other colonies or other creatures he has. It was pretty clear his explanation which was the point of the video. All of his videos have a cliff hanger at the end some are smaller/bigger than others. This one was a bit bigger than others and I think if he worried the title a bit different and just left the cliff hanger towards the end it would have been better but like overall his video isn't much different than his others.

I thought his explanation was entirely inadequate. We have no guarantee that the angel of death will be able to find and kill all of the remaining ants. Even if it does, we have no guarantee that the mite problem will be solved.
Fans in the comment thread have brought up many good points and suggestions. Mikey has probably already thought of similar ideas himself and given them due consideration, but non of this is addressed in the video.
Even if the video is intended solely as an explanation of his reasoning, it fundamentally fails in that regard.

just a casual note...if you have unwanted ants in your abode, sprinkle 5-minute grits on their mound or wherever they are about. The ants eat the grits and the grits swell in their belly and poof! all dead.

In last weeks video, we saw a few of the queens, all of which were free of mites. Shouldn't you save as many mite-free queens as you can before killing them off? The more queens you can save, the faster the new colony can recover.
I think another queens have been infected and killed, so these ants isolate this queen as the despair solution. But the question is why those mites appeared, maybe from cockroaches for the foraging ants?
