This movie failed to capture the love that exists between a boy and his pooch. The boy's demeanor is aloof and not played well, he really fails to establish communication with the doggie. Someone notice why the doggie was put to sleep? The idiotic reason was that he couldn’t climb the stairs anymore. You should be there with your dog at the end. So he's not afraid. That you are the last person he sees before he's gone. You owe it to your dog no matter how much it hurts!
Without serious uncurable painful situation no older dog should be leave at vet's . All dogs have deserve to live at their own house with their loved one. All should think abt it
No matter how hard it is on you, at the time when your is pup is ready to pass, it’s not about you. This is when they need you the most. Three have died in my arms; I wouldn’t have it any other way. And, you’ll find afterwards, you’re at peace with yourself.
@MaKayla First, my heart goes out to you. I, too, will be faced at some point in the next few years as to what to do with my two Shepherds, 11 yr old and 10-1/2 yrs, both arthritic, both with spinal problems. All three of my lost pups were Boston Terriers. The first one died of meningoencephalitis, a form of brain cancer; she was only five yrs. She succumbed after five months when the ER doc told me after two days on a ventilator she couldn't save her. My second, Chipper, was one month to the day shy of 11 yrs old. He died from a glioma, a cancerous brain tumor. He was active and eating until he finally had one very bad seizure, and I knew. My third, died from peritonitis, the ER doc told me she'd lose him on the operating table. In your case, with your Boxer's cancer, I would say this. I think I know the drug that you're referring to regarding your dog's liver, (if it's not prednisone or cytosar) because my dogs have been on the same thing. If I'm correct, there are generics out there like Carprofen and Novox. Also, you would have to give the drug in large doses over a long period of time for the liver to be affected. Are you giving your Boxer supplements like Cosequin, or other supplements that are heavy in glucosamine and chondroitin. Look for the highest levels; I've also given my pups human grade which my vet told me is okay, and is less expensive. I'll assume you have an ortho bed, which can help. For both my girls I use the "Help Me Up Harness" - a godsend with these two 90 lb-ers. You can google it to find the brand; got mine through VCA hospital. Finally, since I don't know where your pup's cancer is, and with my Chipper, in addition to his brain tumor, he had four cancer surgeries in his life for mast cell tumors. If your Boxer is eating, if she is not incontinent where it is debilitating, if her sight is still decent, and despite difficulties getting up or down, you see she has the will to still live and play, then now is not the time. Trust me when I tell you that you will know when she is suffering, when even with all the help you are giving her, every movement becomes a struggle. Look into her eyes, watch her movements, her appetite, her attitude. It's always roughest when they are mentally alert, but the body does not respond. I know, personally, that when my Shepherds can no longer walk, that's the time. When their hips go where they can't stand on their own, or are dragging themselves on the floor, that will be my signal. Remember that it's not about you, but about her. And I will be there with them, holding them, until the end. Please let me know if you have other questions, and let me know if I can help. GIve your girl and kiss and hug and hold her close.
@MaKayla We all have intuition and/or what is known as gut instinct. Trust yourself, trust your judgment, trust your pup. There will come a time when your pup will let you know, and when you feel that her pain outweighs her quality of life. I can tell you that with my Chipper, I waited too long. I promised myself that I wouldn't put him through experiencing seizures like my Poco did. But I listened to his breeder, who kept telling me to hang on a little longer, try this, try that, etc. She'd been raising/breeding Bostons for over 40 years and dedicated her life to the breed. I listened. But I watched him, and I knew something was terribly wrong. I felt it. And when he experienced that seizure where he threw himself to the ground, I fell apart. Forty five minutes later at the vet, he fell asleep in my arms, and I felt the world fall out from under me. No matter how many pups you may have in your lifetime, there will always be the one who sings to your heart. Chipper was that one. I know you'll do the right thing for your Boxer. Again, trust her, trust yourself and stay with her when she'll need you the most. God Bless.
48 hours ago I felt the last heartbeat of my hero while looking in her cute tired eyes. She was the strongest creature I ever met. I was her favorite person and she was mine for the last 15 years. Together we had the time of our life, exploring the outdoors and running around the house. Now I'm 30 and all I got are memories of you and lessons you taught me especially the one about love no matter what. She got sick and it was very hard for all of us especially for her but she still tried her best to make us smile every day. Although she was in pain, couldn't walk or do anything she loved, I already hate the moment when I decided to euthanize her. No matter what anyone says I still think, for her, the suffering was ok as long as she's with whom she loved. I hated seeing her suffer without any hope of getting better so one morning I decided to euthanize her (a.k.a kill her/stop her life) and I had to see her eyes getting wide and still until she took her last breath. Love is fucked up. Sorry for letting you down Scooby but it's ok to stop being strong for one time in your life. Hope you can now feel peace my beautiful angel, miss you so much and thanks for choosing me. Love you xxxxxxx 14/02/2005 - 25/11/2019

When my mini dachshund had cancer we had to put him down. But when I was at the vet I was with my baby till the end. I would never leave my baby to die alone. I looked into his eyes and he blew his last breath into my mouth. And I told him until we meet again 😭 Dogs 🐶 are the best gift anybody can ask for.
All animals should be treated with kindness!! I do not know what i would do with out my cat!! I love him so much. I encourage all to be kind in loving to these helpless animals who do not have a voice!!!!
OMG PEOPLE STOP HATING some vets do not let You see Your dog being put down while some do so don't assume. PS SOMETIMES IT IS NOT WRONG TO PUT YOUR PET DOWN INSTEAD OF LETTING IT DIE IN PAIN. I had to put my dog down due to arthritis.
Let this be a lesson for you, NEVER LET YOUR DOG DIE ALONE! Cradle him or her, tell them you love them, pet them, go over all the good times you had with them, kiss them, do what ever comes into your mind to east their passing. You are their WORLD! Wait until the Vet tells you it is time, not you! In other words, stay with them until the END! It took 51/2 years for me to get another dog, her name is Sadie, she saved my life. Just remember, every dog you have in your life will love you and bring love into your life. So don't let them go out with the same love!
Wow these are the kind of dogs I adopt from the humane society. If not in a lot of pain these old dogs still have life to live and a lot of love to give. As dogs age of course they can not do what they used to do, same for humans. I can not do what i used to be able to do either. I prefer older dogs because I am an older human dog myself. This dog still had more life to live.
No, you don't leave your best friend to take that final step alone. You hold him in your arms because you're willing to let yourself hurt rather than abandon him.
Cass, DON'T pay attention to the negativity of many of the comments, but glean from them that which may be useful in evaluating your video and learn from the experience. BEST of luck in moving forward with your future projects!
I don't know why this short film has only had less than 100thousand views. I'm going to make sure it gets more. A heart moving reflection for anyone who loves dogs. Thank you for making it.
When I had to put my cat down I was destroyed. He was so sick wasn’t eating or drinking properly, lost lots of weight...etc. He was suffering. I didn’t want to say goodbye but I had to do it for him. I was so scared to be with him during the procedure but I went anyways for him not for me. I stayed hugged him, told him I loved him...and it hurts it still hurts even after 5 years. But if you ever have to put an animal down be with them until the end please
I had to put my dog down a couple days from a tumor. Sitting with her watching her go was the deepest pain I ever felt. But her knowing I was by her side until the end made it hurt less
I just said goodbye to my sweet yellow lab 3 wks. today. This story was mine, but, haven’t shed a tear yet. I am just shell shocked. I am numb. If I watched this video b4 we said goodbye, I would of been balling. One day soon, the pain will be released, I’m sure. Appreciate your dogs, never take them for granted, give them plenty of biscuits & kiss & hug them, like it’s their last! ♥️🐕♥️
First of all don’t put a dog to sleep because they can’t get up the stairs!! Vets have meds for that and you could get a few more years with your senior pet...that poor Boi...he deserved so much better than an owner who didn’t care...this video slayed my heart. Put the effin boy to sleep and let the precious dog live...
I could never just leave my dog at the vet and i would not put him down that soon he did seem a little sick but still very much alive. I would carry my dog up and down those steps as much as i had to to keep him longer.
The saddest thing that I have heard is a vet explaining how terrific the dog feels when their owners leave them in their last stages at the vet and that scared and worried look that dogs give knowing that they are gonna die and will not be meeting their friends anymore. That thing really shook me.
In all fairness, we all handle the passing our our dogs differently. Can't judge some one. It's one of the hardest things we have to go through. I had to put down my 1st dog decades ago. She knew I wouldn't be able to stand there in the vet's exam room when she was given her 2 shots (I'm guessing) because she knew to say her goodbye in the car as i drove and she was laying in my sister's arms. She hadn't eaten for over 7 days. Couldn't keep anything down. Super weak. She raised her head with all the strength she had left...I said my "goodbye" and stroked her head. Then she put her head back down. I wasn't able to stand in the room and had to step out. My sister was there instead. It isn't a sign of weakness. Dogs understand. They KNOW things. Amazing creatures. My 2nd dog passed away in his sleep. Was a few days shy of turning 18. This was a film. Maybe he WAS there in the vets office in the end. As long as the dog knows it was loved and you had a chance to say your "goodbyes".. You've spend so much time with the dog...they ALREADY know they were loved (assuming they had a good loving owner). It's always the first death that's the hardest (dog or family member).
With schnooka I never got to say goodbye, she got hit be grateful you have a dog. They are one of a kind and once you lose them you can’t get them back
I KNOW THAT THIS FILM IS NOT THE BEST! YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL ME AGAIN IN THE COMMENTS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE STORY AND MY ACTING ISN'T GOOD. This is a fictional film as well. I am a young filmmaker and made this film to try a few things out. Thank you for your feedback over the years, I have grown from it.
Our Sarah crossed the rainbow bridge on October 12, 2019 at approximately 1:30 PM. She was surrounded by those who loved her for her 13 years of life. We wouldn't have had it any other way! My wife and I laid her to rest in our back yard. That's just how I've always done things for the dogs I've been blessed enough to have in my life. I won't judge someone who would do this, but I couldn't. I am fiercely loyal.
Only one time he couldn’t make it up the steps because in dog years he was like a 90 year old man and so how quick you are to put an end to his life even though he did not appear to be in any pain. What he did was a matter of convenience and not of love. He called his dog a friend but he was not a friend to his dog because friends don’t desert friends when they need them the most. That man’s tears I have no sympathy for because he’s not crying for the dog but only for himself. How selfish. He better not get another dog until he learns to treat them right. I had four dogs who eventually grew old and passed on. Two I had to put to sleep in my home and it nearly killed me. I did not put them to sleep at my convenience but waited until they let me know that they could not go on and they were just too tired to go another day. I held onto them until they let me know when they were ready and not when I was ready. Now I have four other dogs and they are my children. I will never let them pass on without me holding them and speaking to them. They know that I love them very much and that I go out of my way to put them first.
I've had 3 German Shepherds and one Lab all of which were large dogs and all of them slowed down in their ability to get around as they entered their senior years. However, old age led to more serious difficulty in walking for my Shepherd, Gretta. It became hard for her even get up and walk through the pet door to go potty. At first, I started with the Vet which in my opinion turned out to be a mistake. The injectable drug prescribed for her had some bad possible side effects and could only be used with an "on and off" schedule which did not keep her condition managed well. I then decided to move on to investigating alternative medicine and I found a better way that avoided side effects and it also worked more effectively. I used type1/type3 collagen blend (pharmaceutical grade) and it is given by mouth and I also gave her a supplement for her joints but NO more meds from the vet. When my Gretta finally passed away, she was still able to get up and down from a lying position by herself and walk as well as go in and out the pet door. Don't give up on your dog! They can be your best friend ever!
I love Dogs they always just be with us in every situation of life they never let us alone so it’s our duty or responsibilities to always be with them even in their last stage of life . Only Dogs are better know then us what is unconditional love 💖😘😘🐶
I agree that is a stupid film, I would never leave my dog like that and second the vet Will come at my house, I want my dog to pass in His house sourounded by his family.
Question: Before having to put your doggie to sleep ...is it better to have him/her sedated before the actual euthanization or will they feel some kind of pain regardless. It's a thought I dread and want to ensure when it's time, my dog will not experience any pain.
@Jim R my baby was sedated first for more than a half hour i held him in my arms then I knew it was time to let go that was the day after newyears this year 2020
Been there done that But it's part of the deal from the day you bring that pup home that sad day eventually will arrive it's never easy the whole thing is that you share a great life together make all those great days and hopefully years the best of both your lives!!!!!!
Why do these dying dogs always have to be yellow Labrador retriever‘s?! Looks just like my Bailey! I will not be able to live without my Bailey ! Let’s put it this way, I won’t live without my Bailey
Who leaves their dog and walks out the door like that?!?!?!???!?!?!?!??!!!?!!!!That’s also depressing because I had a Great Dane called zose and if you look at my profile picture you could see him he was loyal kid trustworthy and many more unexplainable words that he was but when he had to go I refused to walk away I tried to sit in that car to go see him for the last time the last goodbye and the last hug...

Love you xxxxxxx
14/02/2005 - 25/11/2019
You did the right thing being with your girl during her last breath I wish I had done the same I could not handle the pain of watching my dog die my daughter took her to have her put down and I've dealt with the guilt of not going and holding her in her final hours Daisy was my American Staffordshire terrier she come down with Addison's disease in February of 2018 this is almost the same thing as Cushing's disease only reverse by June 4th the day I had her put down she couldn't even walk and I knew I had to do something she was suffering so I made the to have her put to sleep if I could do it all over again I would have been strong like you were and then with her I watch a lot of dog videos on UA-cam and I make it my point to leave a comment about my dog Daisy and American Staffordshire terrier an 85 lb bundle of love who walked this great Earth October 15th 2008 to June 4th 2018 I think some of these dog videos are sort of like a group therapy it helps to read comments from other people who have had the same heartbreak
@@brianmaricle9646 Don't say that my friend. We're always going to feel guilt in situations like these. Even I feel guilty and not sure what was best for her but we did what we thought is right and that's what matters.
I'm sure she nows you loved her and did anything you could for her while she was with you. Hope you stop feeling guilty on something you can't change now and take it as a lesson from Daisy. So by next time someone you love needs you to be brave for them, you remember what Daisy the 85 lb bundle of love thought you and take a braver decition.
@Gaspar Tomas I too had a doxie
he passed day after newyears 2020
I never left his side
even for a while when I knew it was over
the hardest thing i ever had to do in my life was this one. I wish it upon no one to ever have to go through this. The suffering is unbearable.
All animals should be treated with kindness!! I do not know what i would do with out my cat!! I love him so much. I encourage all to be kind in loving to these helpless animals who do not have a voice!!!!
O M G !
WHAT A BOY!!!!!
F A I L H U M A N !
I just lost my baby this year 2020
its going to take some time to get another
if ever
Wow these are the kind of dogs I adopt from the humane society. If not in a lot of pain these old dogs still have life to live and a lot of love to give. As dogs age of course they can not do what they used to do, same for humans. I can not do what i used to be able to do either. I prefer older dogs because I am an older human dog myself. This dog still had more life to live.
No, you don't leave your best friend to take that final step alone. You hold him in your arms because you're willing to let yourself hurt rather than abandon him.
What kind of a coward does something so mean to his own dog
Cass, DON'T pay attention to the negativity of many of the comments, but glean from them that which may be useful in evaluating your video and learn from the experience. BEST of luck in moving forward with your future projects!
I held my baby at the vet's until she drew her last breath. She died in my arms. Still too painful to talk about.
True Debra Evangelisto, when the vet gave mercy killing to my dog, he just watching me while I am crying.
I don't know why this short film has only had less than 100thousand views. I'm going to make sure it gets more. A heart moving reflection for anyone who loves dogs. Thank you for making it.
Thanks I appreciate it!!!
someone was crying ? I can't stop crying
Poor baby ..he knows inside him where his owner is bringing him...please do not leave him. ❤❤❤
They are one of a kind and once you lose them you can’t get them back
so true you cant have them back
sorry about your loss
memphismemories thank you it’s hurts but I learned to keep my head up and be happy! she wouldn’t want me to be sad ❤️
Thank you for your feedback over the years, I have grown from it.
its ok but now you've
learned what a dog / pet means to people
I hated that stupid boy.If he loves he's dog well then he would'nt let it happen. If you love your dog you should care for them
Our Sarah crossed the rainbow bridge on October 12, 2019 at approximately 1:30 PM.
I think this was a movie and not true..anyway, you STAY with your pet till the very end so he won’t have fear...
Thank you so much for sharing the story. I cried of sadness, i am än snimal lover too. God bless.
Maybe he couldn’t handle seeing the dog, his best friend, dying in front of him. I mean it was the last thing he ever wanted.
Such a bad actor 😩
It came off a little caricatured...it could've been a good clip but somehow the sentiment displayed on the film felt disingenuous.
Jim R I think you mean disingenuous*
I love Dogs they always just be with us in every situation of life they never let us alone so it’s our duty or responsibilities to always be with them even in their last stage of life . Only Dogs are better know then us what is unconditional love 💖😘😘🐶
I agree that is a stupid film, I would never leave my dog like that and second the vet Will come at my house, I want my dog to pass in His house sourounded by his family.
FICTIONAL
Question: Before having to put your doggie to sleep ...is it better to have him/her sedated before the actual euthanization or will they feel some kind of pain regardless. It's a thought I dread and want to ensure when it's time, my dog will not experience any pain.
@Jim R my baby was sedated first
for more than a half hour i held him in my arms
then I knew it was time to let go
that was the day after newyears this year 2020
@@Lw5212 : Thank you for the response and very sorry for your loss.
@@jimr4319 thank you for that
I hope that he lives I wish this had a part 2 or something ):
Takes a real jerk to let his dog die alone and afraid.
At least the dog is a good actor!
Been there done that But it's part of the deal from the day you bring that pup home that sad day eventually will arrive it's never easy the whole thing is that you share a great life together make all those great days and hopefully years the best of both your lives!!!!!!
Absolutely *terrible* film. His harshness and impatience with his lifelong friend... and then to simply drop him off at the vets???
FICTIONAL
It is heartbreaking to see the kid just left the bay alone :-(
Right my dog almost died but i was praying and praying hoping her to live so she lived and had babies in 9 months
Need tears with that cry
If u love ur dog so y uh leave in his bad situation ?? It's ur tru love ?? 😒
Dog owner make me angry...
He is so stupid
Why do these dying dogs always have to be yellow Labrador retriever‘s?! Looks just like my Bailey! I will not be able to live without my Bailey ! Let’s put it this way, I won’t live without my Bailey
This is like your children let you sleep if get some disease.....so sad companion is forever not only for good times only 😭😭😭😭
Very very loving cutest sweetest gorgeous doggie very very smiling innocent eyes 😍😍😘😘😙😙😗😗😗 very sad video the end scenes 😭😭
Why always good dogs, and not bad people. This sucks!
I think it’s beautiful
The fact you LEFT the dog to DIE and not just that pulling it by the collar and leaving it outside, surprising that it was a SENIOR dog AS WELL HUH!?
Who leaves their dog and walks out the door like that?!?!?!???!?!?!?!??!!!?!!!!That’s also depressing because I had a Great Dane called zose and if you look at my profile picture you could see him he was loyal kid trustworthy and many more unexplainable words that he was but when he had to go I refused to walk away I tried to sit in that car to go see him for the last time the last goodbye and the last hug...
Is the dog is really died???😢
UA-cam WORLD nope, in real life he’s still alive but he’s getting pretty old.

Did he seriously get euthanized just because he couldn't go up the stairs
It’s sad because my girlfriend had to put her dog down :/
I would never take my dog to the vet and put her down if god wants her let him come get her. I will do everything i can to keep her comfortable but they don't put us down when its are time to go who are they to play God
Why they kill the dog though
The guy in this clip should take some classes for acting !!!

I have lost three fur persons and I was by each of there sides when it was time. This video sucks!
