Ruby Ma'am, the Hyderabadi daal looks amazing! Mamma and I watch and try your recipes all the time! We're Hyderabadi, and loved this recipe. Mom said it was very close to how it's made in Hyderabad, we just don't add onions. Mom also said we don't add Imli to everything, only khatte foods (Khatti daal and Mahekhalya/Mirchion ka salan). In our house we use lemon in Khatti daal instead of Imli. When I make the tadka I slice up the garlic thinly and julienne the curry leaves, it adds a delicious crunch to the daal, I also add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) sometimes, it's not really found in Hyd cooking but I think it adds a papad-type touch. ( I do the same tadka for tomato paste chutney, buttermilk, and plain yogurt that I loosen up with water. The tadka'd yogurt and buttermilk are delicious with masala dishes!) Please try it! 😊❤️
