Thanks for this video. I appreciate the time and effort it takes to produce these clips with solid content and decent audio and video quality. Only recently I looked at a Virgin Islands first coinage set from 1973 at my local coin shop. Hunting for some info on that set is how I found your channel. I ended up not buying, especially because only the one dollar was silver. My appreciation for coin sets is growing, but I have also learned to keep an eye on the intrinsic value and not let the collector’s bug run away with me.😉

I believe I ordered both of these proof sets directly from The Franklin Mint at their time of issue, which was a really poor decision on my part. Since your coins are somewhat cloudy in appearance due to improper storage, most dealers would probably offer you 90%-92% of their actual melt value, and if they couldn't sell them for retail within a month or so, they would be destined for the refinery.

Do you say it was a poor decision to buy from Franklin mint directly because the price was too high?
