Calogero Lorenzo "Chazz" Palminteri is an American actor, screenwriter, producer and playwright. He is best known for his Academy Award-nominated role for Best Supporting Actor in Bullets over Broadway, the 1993 film A Bronx Tale, based on his play of the same name, Special Agent Dave Kujan in The Usual Suspects, Primo Sidone in Analyze This and his recurring role as Shorty in Modern Family.
I've met Billy a couple of times at his motorcycle shop in Oyster Bay...He was always so nice and gracious...One time me and a few of my motorcycle club brothers rolled up...He was there and opened up to let us in..We spent an hour or so asking him about his bikes..He would tell us stories about the bikes and how he got them..I'm a musician and every time I'd ask him a music question, he would ignore me...The guys in my club thought it was hysterical...One of my guys pointed at me and asked him "hey Billy, could you use an Italian guitar player with a bad attitude in your band?"...Billy looked at me, waved me off and said "nah, I have an asshole like him in my band already!"...We all fell on the floor laughing!...I have the distinction of being called an asshole by Billy Joel!...I swear on my mother's grave this happened!...It was around 8 or 9 years ago!...
If you grew up in an Italian or Irish neighborhood in NYC, you would have thought Billy Joel was bigger than the Beatles and the Stones combined. Every song from every album gets tons of jukebox time till this day. And Piano Man?
That's the East Coast version of Hotel California. Every bar, every night...
and like "Hotel California", overplayed.
Billy Joel’s Italian Restaurant song is his Bohemian Rhapsody!
It’s an Incredible song!! 🎵🎶🎶
Love it. probably his best. It's like four songs in one!
yes it is! Its such an epic packed into just a few minutes!!!
@@3hooks781 Well said & totally AGREE - It's an EPIC song!!
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant**** is the name of the song.
This is the best interview from someone who really appreciates Billy as an artist and a friend! Thanks for sharing!
Billy Joel is one of my favorite artists , I wish i could see him live , then I can die
Best part about Joel at the garden are his "Multiple Choice" bits where the crowd picks from 3 less popular songs. You know you're gonna hear Piano Man and Scenes From An Italian Restaurant but, instead he'll throw out "Pick one of the following: Zanzibar, The Downeaster Alexa or Baby Grand" 👏 👏 👏

Yesss…the album tracks are my favorite! Billy used to give the audience the choice, hits or tracks, and I’d be screaming tracks! Love Billy so much. Hope his next residency is Florida ❤
Billy Joel is a storyteller, and genius

I saw Billy in Chicago in the 1970’s. We were young and Billy was great and had thick dark hair. Such a super artist. Thank you both for this interview.

My father grew up in the Bronx around Arthur Avenue. Went to Cardinal Hayes. He would talk about it often. When a Bronx Tale came out it validated all his "stories" which I assumed were grossly exaggerated. He passed in 2010. That movie is like a home movie of my Dad's childhood. Thank you for that Chazz
Shout out to Homeless Pimp... without whom this literally would/could never have happened!!
YOOO THANK YOU! LOL

Yey its Monday Chazz day!!
I’m from Levittown he is our Hero my son is 12 and knows all his songs
Firstly, Billy Joel is my favorite artist of all time, and I admit, I was really excited to see this video thumbnail. It's basically the most recent update to learn how Billy has dealt with being a musician coping with the past year of quarantine/isolation, yet this interview was such a let down. Not only did we NOT hear about how Billy has spent the last year, we didn't get any stories that haven't already been told countless times in his masterclasses and other big interviews (i.e. Howard Stern). This was the first time I've ever seen a Chazz interview, and man, I really wanted to like this. Such a true lack of preparation. I can understand being nervous about talking to a legendary musician (I would be nervous myself!), but simply drooling over hits like Piano Man, "Italian Restaurant," and Just the Way You Are, doesn't do any good for the fans, and Chazz was not showing us any indication he's a longtime fan. Billy even said flat out he's tired of most of those hit songs. Sorry Chazz, you could have done much better than this.
I cant believe u admitted that! So weird
Très vrai
he didn’t have to put it out he could have just talked to billy on his own.
this was SO CUTE. when pimp got to ask questions i genuinely got so so so excited. GO PIMP!!!!

This was an outstanding interview! I love billy Joel’s music! Thanks you sir!
Billy Joel is an absolute Genius! What a great interview! I loved all his songs and played them nonstop, when I needed a pickup in my mood.
Hello Sandra,
Thanks for the love and support for years ❤️.
It's nice meeting you here.
I love Billy Joel new York state of mind
I can't believe how down to earth Billy is, being that he's such musical royalty. Cool that he's from Long Island too, me also being born in The Bronx then later moved to the island. Rosalinda's Eyes my favorite Billy tune. Great channel Chazz from a fellow Sicilian - both sides from Corleone.
ua-cam.com/video/iTXw9P9vkM4/v-deo.html
Gawd this interview is awkward in spots. Cold "Spring*s" Harbor... Italian Restaurant? It's *Scenes From an Italian Restaurant.
What's your favorite album- The Stranger... orare they all about the same? What a choice... "Gangster"? on Mulberry Street?! 😂
Nice guy, but as an interviewer... 😏🤓
As always, Mr. Joel is gracious to a fault, and this is just another example of what a national treasure he is...
LOVE THIS GUY. MAYBE THE BEST MUSICIAN OF ALL TIME.
Well.. not really. I love Billy, but he's not the best musician ever. Surely a top 5 pop rock piano player of all time.
Per me lui è il n 1
I will always be a fan and look up to Billy Joel. He was so authentic to where he came from.
Awesome Chazz. Love Billy Joel. Thank you for wonderful content ♥️. I love that, “enough of the storm song”

Billy Joel is a great Rock N Roll Machine!!
I really love Billy...he's a God, but he's an intimate friend, too....he's a sort of cozy God for me. Thank you.
ua-cam.com/video/iTXw9P9vkM4/v-deo.html
All of Billy’s stories are great, but the best ones in my book are the ones that include Liberty standing up and throwing his sticks at him at some point! Billy’s the greatest! 😂
I hope Billy releases at least one more album of new songs before he passes.
The only thing better then a Billie Joel interview...is a Billy Joel interview by Chazz, way cool!!!
Than*
Love the pic of Chazz, Nick Nolte, and Chris Penn on the set of Mulholland Falls, one of my favorite movies.
New Billy Joel song dropped today! Great stuff!
One of my favorite interviews ever !! A legend
Love Billy Joel.
This was incredible. Billy NEVER does stuff like this haha. I loved all the Long island talk!
I feel so much better about our new Billy Joel inspired character that is coming out soon. I gave him a strong NYC voice lolol. Got it right thank goodness. The man is a legend. His music will echo for hundreds of years. Great interview!!!
Piano Man should be a film. Like the big fish in the small pond scenario. That song and New York State of Mind invoke some great memories of New York. And I've never lived there!
Piano man love those lyrics. Amazing how he first made the music then added all those funny words. Superb
I completely agree with you Chazz in that Billy is a national music treasure and staple of the New York American Experience. He is just as integral as Gershwin! I really appreciate your authentic appreciation of my all time favorite singer/songwriter. My dream is to meet him some day. You were just talking about doing on earth what you can with the precious limited time we all have. Well, I'm putting it out there, I want to meet Billy Joel!!!! Can you help me with my dream? Fondly, Suzie Shiaman
What an amazing interview Chazz!! Yes I'm Tommy Smooth Sandy blues eyes friend 😁

Great work Chazz, I'm a huge fan originally from the Bronx and your show is amazing keep up the great work 👍
Billy always talks about how much more he loves obscure songs - but his concerts are always just greatest hits...
Great show
Chazz is smooth.
And Billy is one of the greatest lyricists who ever wrote.
Billy Joel!!! Excellent...
Two icons having a chat.
I've only been to 3 Billy concerts, including The Last Play At Shea second night. The other two times were in Philly and at MSG. I want to go to more. I'd love to have season tickets just like for baseball lol
My 1st concert was River of Dreams 1994 at the United Center Chicago. I was 24. Noone can compare to Billy.
Awesome
Billy Joel!!
You the best Billy❤
Great interview chazz! Salute!
The highlight of my monday 😊
Tremendous!!
Really cool!
Nice episode
Talk to any big Billy Joel fan and they'll tell you that some of his most important songs are not the hits. Stuff like "New York State of Mind," "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant," "Miami 2017," "Until the Night," "Vienna," and "Big Man on Mulberry Street" feel absolutely necessary to his discography. He played most of these at his 100th residency show at Madison Square Garden last week.
Should rename this clip, the Chaz Kiss interview! Keep puckering up Chaz!
This was ICONIC! Great interview Chazz!
Piano Man ❤
My friend lil Pete was a security guard for celebrities who were appearing in the casino I worked in. I told him how much my pop loved Pasquale Caputo and he comes in the back door of my office and he was smiling at me..I brought someone who wanted to meet you..in strides Pat Cooper..I'm blown away and he was so funny and he told me his pop was a tailor and I said it is a small world..my Uncle Dom made suits for alla the rat pack..Botany 500..I have to say I love the sharkskin suits..I have to say it..I really do admire the well dressed man.
I agree with Sting
Billy Joel il più completo brillante versatile e talentuoso songwriter musicista
So you go to the village in your tie dyed jeans
And you stare at the junkies and the closet queens
It's like some pornographic magazine
And you smile
Captain Jack will get you high tonight
And take you to your special island
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
Just a little push, and you'll be smilin'
I graduated from Hicksville high school
My friend was a dealer in AC..Tommy Donnarumma and anytime certain people were in town he'd be requested..Ralph only wanted my friend as a dealer. Funny that Ralph had a really strong resemblance to a famous NY actor..hmmm.
Hey Chazz, you were cut out too quickly on L&O: Organized Crime, what a shame. But that "son" of yours, portrayed by Dylan McDermott, is a real scary dude. Billy was my childhood idol growing up in the mid-to-late 70s, out in Los Angeles -- even quoted him in my graduation yearbook. If Billy's tired of caving in to "The Hits" then he might wanna try the Album Performance Concept and string up an entire week of performances based on his albums. I, personally, would love to hear the "Streetlife Serenade" album (1974) performed from the first-to-last track. "Roberta, how I've adored you... I'd ask you over but I can't afford you..." haha
Cold springs harbor is a great place on long Island
Woah!!!!
Billy's eyebrow coloring looks good.
Chazz sounds like he is about 5 glasses of wine in.
Hey mr palminteri ! When are you going to bring your one man show to Florida? But of course I got to make a trip to newyork for your restaurant 👍🏾
glass houses rocks. same as 82
Here's an amusing story...Back in June of 1984 Billy Joel Played the Garden I believe 2 days after the famous Judas Priest Concert at the Garden that got them banned for life. The Garden was destroyed and they had to use a few thousand folding chairs as replacements to all the ones that ere broken.
Chazz mispronounced 'Cold Springs Harbor" & thought Captain Jack was on Cold Spring Harbor. He also asked the most generic questions which have already been asked in EVERY other BJ interview before. At least he didn't ask why Billy hasn't release new music. I wish Billy would take an interview from a REAL fan that would ask more interesting questions that haven't already been asked 1000x before.
I completely agree. I really felt bad for Billy.
Yeah I completely agree. He was completely unprepared and didn’t know squat about Billy. He was really irritating me. I many he called big man on Mulberry Street the gangster on Mulberry Street. Was saying to myself where the hell did they find this guy? I’m sure he’s well known in some circles but I’m not aware of him and not impressed by this interview.
@@alexmerlo2690 Lol
He also call Paul McCartney “Paul McCarthy” but you gotta love Chazz!! And for all his fame and great acting and writing accomplishments on film, stage, television etc It’s like he’s a starstruck fan with Billy and I think that’s what made this interview even greater
WENT TO RUSSIAN BEFORE THE WALL CAME DOWN, ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT THAT TRIP
Is it just me, or does It look like Larry King is interviewing Tom Jones ?
4:35 - nyc

Hi CHAZZ ASK HIM HOW DOES IT FEEL LISTENING TO YOU'RE MUSIC COMING FROM YOU'RE CAR RADIO ⁉️🤣👍🙏
Springsteen didn't want to go to Russia? Wow.....
He's a fan of Billy but can't name his songs?

You know you’re getting old when you’re quoting Henny Youngman.
"My wife said I wanna go somewhere I've never been for vacation...I told her how about the kitchen?!"
Italian restaurant is about Christiano's Pizzeria Syosset Long Island it's no longer there unfortunately
A bottle of red a bottle or white. Used to eat there as a kid they'd have Billy's picture with Kristi Brinkley up and dollar bills hanging from the ceiling the real deal NY Pizza also My Baby sitter knew Billy's sister and would see Billy as a kid playing the piano
This guy was so unprepared to talk to Billy. He acted like he knew what he was talking about but really had no idea
Although Billy is Jewish....he just seems so Italian to me. LOL.
a Jewgene.

This is simply fantastic. Two entertainers that they just don’t make anymore.
Amazing how patient Billy is while Chaz asks him the same tired questions that have been asked and answered 10,000 times before.
Billy truly captured the spirit of NY in a special time. Those songs will live forever. Long Island pride!
ua-cam.com/video/iTXw9P9vkM4/v-deo.html
Billy’s songs and powerful soul lifting lyrics really helped me growing up in my teens (back in the 90’s) which was a particularly shitty time for me. His music just kept me going. It’s amazing how much his songs helped me…there seemed to be a song for every emotion, feeling I was going through. A truly beautiful man with an incredible gift…Billy Joel music for life y’all!😎❤️
Hello Carly Warly,
Thanks for the love and support for years ❤️.
It's nice meeting you here.
Sold Billy the BMW Motorcycle that he crashed on,, he wanted to try sitting on my Sportster at Suffolk County Honda and he got pissed when I said NOPE..lol Great musician..
Billy is so humble and so down-to-earth despite his extreme talent and success, what a special man!!!💓

Yesterday I watched Michael Franzese sit down with Chazz Palmenteri, today it's Mr Palmenteri in conversation with Billy Joel, does it get any better? Much love and respect from South Africa.

Chazz, I loved you in A Bronx Tale --- but dawg, leave journalism to the professionals! On a scale of 1 to 10 . . . you talked an 8 and Billy was a 2! Be direct, be quick and shut up! And definitely --- DO NOT INTERRUPT!
