From personal experience doing custom headlight installs on BMWs, I’d say that if you have a F30 with stock xenons you should wait till the rings burn out and then could upgrade to RGB boards for F30 sedans or go the Bavgruppe route and DIY the install of whichever ring style you like. The upgraded brown and rings would be under $600 in parts and if you’re willing to do the labor yourself, follow a tutorial and you could get it done in a day or two. The price will run you about the same in parts for F3x (f32, f31 etc.) and is far cheaper than doing the OEM upgrade. The benefit of doing a full OEM upgrade is you could probably flip your old housings to someone wanting to upgrade from stock halogens and it would be cheaper for them since you’d be selling them a used pair. Hope this helps!
Just want to clarify. The DEPO retrofit doesn’t come with Xenon. The circles are LEDs (DRL) but the low beam and high beam keep the factory halogen bulbs. However, you can change them to HID ones if you wish. Otherwise, I’m personally waiting on the LED retrofit yet to be announced (one day) by depo... hopefully we will see it soon

Did you install these yourself? I bought new headlight to upgrade my ugly halogens and everything was going smooth until trying to get off the bottom two bolts. I’ve been working on it for about 5 hours now and can’t figure it out. Any chance you know anyone in the Charlotte area that could help? I feel lost and don’t wanna take it somewhere that’s going to charge so much just to take out the last two bolts out
Got to be OEM dude! go for the LCI LED if you can find all the parts, work out the coding and if it’s not going to be silly money get the Adaptive LEDs I have them on my F31 and they are just pure awesome.

Hey John! I recently get my hands on a 2013 BMW f30 328i xdrive. I love the car, but one thing I really don't like are the stock halogen headlights. I can barely see at night. I really want to upgrade and use Kies Motorsports Depo headlights, but am not sure I want to resuse the halogen lights. I'm afraid that if I do reuse the halogen bulbs i wouldn't see much of a visability improvement. Do you recommend getting the Kies Depo lights and just upgrading to H7 LED bulbs? This is all new to me so any information would help greatly. Thank you for reading this.
I recommend you should get the adaptive LED Headlights from BMW. I know it might be too much, but honestly in my opinion I think those are the best. Not only that there original or good honestly nobody has a difference or installation video for that certain headlight change. My perspective would be that it would help bring more publicity and growth into your channel if you were to make a video like that. I’m a supporter for whatever you do it’s your channel, your decision, and mainly its what you want to do to have fun for all f30 owners like us cause we enjoy your videos, but everyone has their different taste when it comes to certain details about our f30. So I think that would be a great idea for you.

Mine is a '15 F30 n it came with xenon angel eye headlights but strangely using yellow halogen fog lights. This setup didn't provide me with sufficient lighting when driving home at night or going to places where there are no street lights. So I ordered a set of OEM 'Power xenon bulbs' as found in d local official BMW website, it claims to produce up to 50% more light. Costed me USD500 n have it installed at d dealer when arrived. It S U C K S..... in all fairness, I would say it gives me 15% brighter lighting AT THE VERY MOST. I was frustrated until I came across a local car shop which specializes in auto lighting, have them replace d original yellow halogen fog light with a set of LED white lights (they also installed this tiny kit which prevents warning code to display). The whole thing costed me USD250 and what a big difference in terms of providing sufficient lighting even on a pitch black road, of course I've to engage both headlights n fog lights. It's just awesome n I wish I could take pictures n send to u. If u use Wechat n I'll b happy to share pictures. I'm now a happy night time driver 🤓😉😎 Good luck pal ✌🏻😊

MeChan Mao-Ward Had similar types of awful experiences decades ago on my Celica GT, I conclude it in 2 reasons. One is at d time all d so called headlight conversion kit weren't good enough n could not sorted out problems of affecting other components, secondly is many garages weren't professional enough to deal with headlights conversion. I'm lucky because d auto shop that worked on d LED fog light of my car are real pros, even though they are just a local small shop but they only concentrate on headlights, nothing else! I've had d replacement done for nearly 10 months n never encounter any problems.

Yeah most aftermarket lights are more for halogen ones. Guess it’s easier to make cuz it’s just plug and play. Even the E90 models with xénon don’t have much aftermarket headlights as well, especially the LCI ones since the design is bad and we can’t upgrade it. Unless custom. It’s probably gonna be the same, most for halogens for aftermarket for the F30.
I don't get why Aussie Bimmers have reflector headlights and halogens, even the poverty spec 316i in Malaysia gets bi-xenon. (Edit: Bi-xenon as standard) Same story for the W204 C200. Had a headache when shopping for cars here in Qld upon knowing that importers in Australia down spec their cars.
i've got the oem bi+xenon directional headlights and i really don't see the purpose on upgrading to the led's, that's just my opinion. If you want to do it, i will surely look how good it comes out on your car tho ;)
Looks like the Depot headlights do not include bulbs and still use the halogen H7 bulbs. So it is a halogen projector headlight assembly?... Instead of HID Xenon projector from what I understand.

I have the depos on my car and only thing I regret from it is the bulb they had available when I had bought them, doesn’t have the xenon lightbulb look but other than that it’s changed my car soo much and the halos are sooo worthy

Sam Wayne Only if you wanted auto high-beam, etc. It is possible to have adaptive without KAFAS camera for just vertical movement of the lights with steering

Thanks for the quick reply.Greatly appreciated. I actually ordered a set from USR, front& rear bu they only accept PayPal. PatPal cancelled the order and refunded my money; as an UNSAFE transaction. This was just yesterday. USR SA\\says I can do a wire transfer but now I’m a bit paranoid. Although I can’t find a bad review. Have you dealt with USR?
