"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant" -Robert Louis Stevenson
I know your not obligated to share your life with us I don't think you do it for the glory. But I do thank you from a ex farmer on the last part of his life journey watch / sharing your life on your early part of your life's journey.
It's like reliving a film. Young man learning from his dad. Young man getting married and starting his family. Young father showing his son the same things your father showed you.
Military Museum thank you, that means a lot! I'm always happy to get comments like this!
Cute kids. I like the fact you have them with you in the combine.
I remember those days when I was in the combine as a kid. Easy to fall asleep in there, lol
bluemtnsman it's fun for all of us!
So I was watching this video and my almost 10-yr-old, Lydia, heard the girls chattering away in the combine and came over and watched and wanted to see more. So, yesterday we binge-watched all of the 2017 season videos, including the live stream with the women-folk in the combine. She really liked that one! Praying for things to get easier for you all through these last acres. (I put some suggestions in the Discussion tab.) Thanks again for taking the extra time to bring us along through the ups and downs.
Brian Barnes that's awesome! Thanks for watching!
Always love watching your videos. I hope you show us when you take the corn out of your grain bags. Very impressive
At least the snow is gone and yal got a little bit of mud. Worse then snow cause hold to drive without getting stuck. Love the family time making memories .
"Are we making a video " thought that was sweet .
Keep up the videos and ill be watching
Paul C This was a month ago, the snow is still here!
great video thanks im impressed with your multi tasking, combine driving and looking after your two young girls well done
Great video. I love that you have your kids involved in your videos. We were finally able to get the last 5 acres of soybeans in the low spots yesterday so it is nice to be done with 2017 harvest. Looking forward to your next video.
Chews on some beans ..... "they are 16% moisture!" ...... RESPECT ! .... :-)
Got the seat switch jimmy rigged😊😊 gotta love it. Farm on bud.
Living in South Jersey we are flat ground no hill or mountains ⛷ Thanks for the view 👍🏻😉
Not going to lie this is a great channel
Noel Hohberger thanks bud!
I agree!
I would love to see what the land is like out your way if thats considerd hilly. I really like your videos, its cool to see how guys farm in other countries, and you explain everything really well too👌
Best farming videos on UA-cam. I hate harvest videos that are just a bunch of clips with music
good video...always fun to play "hurry up and wait"
BigAndy Hatton you're not kidding
Some parts of Minnesota have rocks like Albany!!!!!We sold the farm by Sauk Centre and my uncle semi retired and bought a 160 acre was really close to Holdingford (think that's how it's spelled). The farm by Sauk was nice. Hardly any rocks. We had a JD disk for 20 years and never replaced a blade until we got to Albany. The first 20 acre field broke 5 blades and bent another 8. I hated working that ground.
oldfarmer my Dad swears he will never tske a disk on our ground again, I think he still has nightmares about it
I feel the pain this year with the beans we’ve got 4hrs left of cutting and have had lite rain the last day and a half it’s feeling like harvest won’t end. Awesome vid
Keenan Kelley we have been fighting snow for the last 10 days now
MN Millennial Farmer Nothing like farming
Your the best youtuber out there I love your vids so much and love telling my family what I’ve learned
claw buster you better get them all to watch!
Nothing like the chew and spit moisture test. For us that's just a way to make the soybean moisture whatever we want it to be. LOL
By the sound of that spit I reckon the moisture of those beans was 16.6% not 16%. Thats way off! lol
Same problems we had in northern pa we only got 160 bushels corn a acre this year.
Mike Honcho our corn is looking about average (175-180) right now. Wish it was better but I can't complain!
I was thinking 17% moisture by the feel of it for those soya beans😁
Great channel, I am not a farmer but find this very interesting. I like your presenting style, you explain yourself very well.
Another great video! Great to see a very good channel growing so quickly recently!!
Have you ever tried narrower rows on your non-irrigated beans? Pros and cons to narrow rows, but I think the best advantage from narrow rows is better weed control from earlier canopy. With resistant weeds, seems to be a bigger issue every year.
Caleb Not for many years. We didn't see an advantage to it at the time. We have had good luck with 30" rows not getting white mold like the narrow ones, and this way we only need 1 planter.
MN Millennial Farmer Good information!
Another quick question: have you ever planted Liberty Link beans? I have a worsening problem with resistant pigweeds and was thinking about trying Liberty beans, but haven't so far. Wondered if anyone else had experience they could share.
what do you (or farmers in gen.) do with the left-over (rejected) material of the soy-bean plant, after the beans are harvested. ?
Parenting done right 🤘🤘
you should so a video where you go over what all equitment you have.
New to the channel great videos I subbed and liked keep em coming
harvesting sounds fun
Mckay Jessop most days!
MN Millennial Farmer that's good
Great vid Guys Smile More God Bless Stay Safe Guys 👍👍
Videos are awesome i was woundering if you can show how your cb radios are step up in one of the videos keep up the great work
a reboot to Oct out by little house on the Prairie, good going .
And here I thought all you had to do was plant, fertilize, wait for growth, then harvest. That's a lot to keep track of and you make it look easy.
KuKoKaNuKo ha! This was an easy day! Check out my vlog from a few days ago where we had the major combine damage, THAT was a stressful day.
Hey there MN Farmer,
IH slowly turning to John Deere,
I was wondering how you put your
hitch on your combine. Trying to
save a buck by reducing vehicles.
Thanks for your time. 🙂
Mn millennial farmer thanks really all it
Looks likeall your snow melted... Here we have been frozen solid for almost a month now.
Northern farmer this video is a month old, I just finally had time to edit it! I'm combining corn on the snow right now
Ahh ok... thought that was kinda strange lol... I know how time consuming editing is.
Quite the supper onxy brought out
I like your channel & also does dust come out of the back of the combine & lay on the ground to get baled
It’s corn dad. Give it up.
Don't know if you will ever get to this but... I have no experience in farming at all but very interested in working on a farm. If you could give me some advice on how do I start it would be very helpful thanks.what should my first step be to getting into it?
planter makes nice straight rows
The auto-steer has made everything a lot easier!
How does the grain move through the exchanger to the top of the grain been.
What happened to that combine. What did Deere say when it broke down earlier.
Could you tell me how many acres total do you guys farm if you don’t mind answering ? Also what all do you farm or is it just corn and beans and how many acres of each?
Christopher Onstott 2,500 total, usually close to 50/50 split
How much Fuel do you go through in a day of Harvesting on average?
Were at in Minnesota are you farming if you don't mind me asking and your right that was a beautiful view from that field
Eric Schweitzer west central part of the state, south of Alexandria
oh ok your only a few hours north of me I'm from northern Iowa around the mason city area
Do you still run the ripper on the hills or is it erodible?
PA Farms only on corn stubble. We have a lot of vegetative dikes in place on that field to stop erosion.
Yeeeet a new video😃
i remember having my boys in the dozers(d-9G) back when they was that age. I have to ask ya this question-as u are selling ur corn u harvest to the ethanol plant. if that plant was not there-would ur farm, equipment be that large? could u still be able to sell ur product elsewhere to support the size of equipment u have. love ur vids. thanks
BigJim57 yes, we have a lot of local elevators and feed mills. We sell a lot to ethanol plants because as an end user, they're able to buy at a higher price. Without them, we would maybe have cheaper local corn prices, but I believe cheaper cash rent prices for land would reflect that, ultimately making our cash flows a wash.
what percent power do you run the combine at? we run ours at 60%
Great videos
You should get a drone so you can look over all of your property
Kid Rider got one!
Are you running climate field view on your 9650 if so how?
Great video
I wanted to ask where you live but whilst typing I realized you were called MINNESOTA milenial farmer :)
Tim Hurkmans we're in the west central part of the state. Halfway between Fargo, ND and Minneapolis.
How many acres do you farm and do you own all the acreage or lease some of it?
TericNoah 2,500. We own about 1,000 between Dad and I and rent the rest.
Beautiful view, awesome videos, I have been watching your videos for while now.. just question might be little wired for you where you go to the restroom 🚻 or you to busy not go?
Chris Holt We have a restroom in the shop, otherwise when I'm in the field, I stop whenever I need to!...
Nice
thank you for commenting on the grain bins but i forgot to ask how many busels total i drive for a farmer in kansas were down to 600 acres left of beens out of 6000 acres total, he does a lot of baggin and some bins, have a good day
mark barnes we have about 300,000 total bushels of storage now
Why don’t you have a tracked grain cart. Really helps with compaction
Johndeere Farmer $$$$!!!!
IM a new subscriber and lovong your channel. Do you have the John deere auto pilot software on your combines?
nashguy207 Only on 1 of them. We would like it on the other one but don't feel it's worth the money.
Can you do a few more videos of a soybean harvest.
just curious.. How many guys do you guys hire on outside of you and your dad?
Clay Pfeifer one part time guy and 4-5 harvest/seasonal guys.
It looks like your beans are on 30" rows right
I don't know about you man but I would rather raise corn than beans any day! Do you have auto-steer on your equipment?
Jamie Humphrey yes we do. It's amazing how nice it is once you get used to it
MN Millennial Farmer. Indeed. We have it on our machines too.
Brilliant!!?
Cute kids
How many acres is that hilly field
Outdoorsman 38 272
How many acres do you have in total?
Michael White 2,500
Why do you not roll your fields with a packer after planting? Then you wouldn't have problems with rocks breaking guards and sickle sections.
AASparkChaser we do...
AASparkChaser we have a LOT of rocks
Do you guys use cb radios or what?
Indiana Row Crop they're a private band digital radio
Great video chap, just a quick question why do you only run one combine during corn? And two for beans?
Will Zealand our grains dryer and semis can't keep up to 2 combines with the amount of bushels being handled with corn. We run 2 on beans so we can get going on corn sooner!
How many acres do y'all farm
Nash Davis 2,500
Do you ever used the gehl
James Berry every day
Is really worth having 2 combines for maybe 500 aces a year?
Kentucky farmer 112 they farm 2,500 acres
Kentucky farmer 112 the second machine does about 1,000 acres of soybeans each year. We believe it's worth it because it allows us to get going on corn several days quicker which is huge in our climate. We got it really reasonably priced ( it's a 1999) and it shouldn't lose much value because it has low hours and we maintain it well.
MN Millennial Farmer oh gotcha
First view again...thumbs up...
What part of MN are you in
Ean Severson West central
Well, it's called beans, but, it's corn.
True, we grow dry edible beans here and its a lot harder to get the beans in the header and a lot harder to keep them healthy during the summer! Luckily they are worth a bit more than soys lol
They need to make a farming simulator map of his land.
They did.
Usual,interesting.
Isn’t it November @ the title
Gene Elliott it is now, this was video that I FINALLY had the time to edit, so it's a month old
Old farm guy(73 yr) like how the young generation is embracing the new technology apparently your dad goes along, but does he ever shake is head and wonder how we did it he before?
Rick Brandt He embraces it as much as I do.
Didn't know ya had a little dude
Malachi March and 2 little dudettes!
MN Millennial Farmer my goodness. When are we gonna see that draper header?? Lol
Malachi March maybe when corn goes back to $5?!
MN Millennial Farmer amen too that
Buy a Case in combine
i thought it is better to combine soybeans at an angle to the rows
That's the best super!
Liberty Evanko I thought so too!
Thanks for the videos really enjoy em I'm 13 and am from Ontario so nice to see how farmers operate in Minnesota also if you have the time could you take a peak at my channel would really appreciate it and with that have a great day.
ontario ag guy I'll check it out!
18th nice vid
Only if you had a camera rolling 24/7
I wish
Mitch Gibson sometimes I feel like I do!
Hi
Chris S. Yo
You know what John Deere and a banana have in common? They aren't ripe till they turn yellow. CAT is the only way to go. But that's just my opinion.
Ran Moore if it ain't red leave it in the shed
First?
I'm curious to know where do you farm?
TIMZONE 19 we are in the west central part of Minnesota
Is there heat and AC in the combines?
Thanks
A145084 DAVE yep
