I'm so glad that my day did not begin at 5:45 AM when I was a student at St. Francis Seminary in the 1960s. But I loved this place and my life there.

“Sons of Thunder” bowling alley, love it. Praying for all you seminarians. In the east our father is St. John Chrysostom, my prayer for you is that you will be like the golden mouthed as you grow in holiness, and are trained up for ministry in the western lung of Christ’s Church.

Some of these young men have also appeared on another program to give a personal account of what has motivated them to become Seminarians and ordained priests, heartwarming genuine accounts of those who will be asked to minister to Parishes in these trouble times of terrible division and loss. As a non Catholic born, educated and now elderly here in Massachusetts a state with a traditional very large Catholic population now many lapsed I and many do a slow burn at the thought of these young men being sacrificed on the altar by the American Bishops Conference in their hand to hand battles with the Vatican Curiate, Pope Francis, and perhaps soon successor over doctrine and policy differences card game in which the Vatican holds aces and a royal flush hand. NO AMERICAN CARDINALS WILL BE NAMED AND AT 70 BISHOPS RETIREMENTS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY ACCEPTED and to ensure ecclesiastical policy is carried out to the letter perhaps NO PRIESTS WILL BE ORDAINED WITHOUT VATICAN APPROVAL. Our Cardinal O'Malley has struggled for twenty years to bring about reform and acceptance with little success. Recent programs on social media by Catholic Bishops et. al. are really giving LAST RIGHTS TO AMERICAN CATHOLICISM. WHAT A SHAME.

Well, I checked this seminary and Pius X Seminary in Virginia. I understand that St. Pius X is a traditional seminary and St. Francis is a more modern one. My thoughts are that st Francis is a secular seminary that doesn't prepare young celibate kids to face the strict and vigilant life of a priest who must survive a very difficult life as a celibate priest in a very secular and post Christian world. That's why there are so many failures in priestly vocations. On the other hand, St. Pius X seminary being very must focused on the strict and traditional formation of the priest, I believe that can give more spiritual strength and supplies to face the world we live in. I am not Roman Catholic btw

I must disagree with Ven. Sheen and the good seminarian about coffee, except for Monday’s when there is no Divine Liturgy at my parish, I don’t have coffee until after I’ve had the Eucharist. That’s usually not until 11 at the earliest. I’m up at 4:00 saying the prayers upon waking up and the matins, in the word by 4:45/5:00, then I pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Lauds and the First hour, on the bus by 8:00, then at the church by 8:30 I pray the third hour followed by Divine Liturgy, then I have breakfast. Sunday’s I’m not having my first cup of coffee usually until the afternoon because the English Liturgy is at 11 (if I go to the Ukrainian I have it earlier).

As a Catholic we could learn from Islam..
Why is it so that I noticed your prayer in the chapel you guys are standing all on your own.
In Islam they stand shoulder to shoulder and pray as one entity and one voice to the God of Abraham.
Let me know as to why they pray like that.
I go to the mosque and pray with my brothers I love their zeal and hospitality.
They sit on the floor and share a meal... exactly like Jesus.
    Very humbling.

Lmao. Stop it with that coexist crap you unintellectual hippie. allah is not the Christian God. allah is a demon that commands his followers to behead Christians and oppress women. Ask your "Muslim brothers" what jizya is. Ask them what's going on in Nigeria, Syria and afganistan. Ask them if they can answer any thing from David woods UA-cam channel. Islam is a fake demonic religion. Not the true religion of the one true God.

As a Catholic in Australia the faith is no where like it in the world...It's a water downed version of Catholic Tradition and the Churchs former identity...
The Church here has collapsed and no wonder...The sermons are mediecore and the priests are just merely atheists holding a cup.
I'm not attacking the Faith of Jesus I'm seeing the human failings as Christians with the Catholic Church...
I have over the years been church shopping and some Protestant churchs are quite engaging.
I used to help a lot in my parish building Christmas Cribs every year and preparing the church with helpers as well as Carpenters fixing a Church in inner Melbourne that was built in the early part of the 19th Century...
It was charasmatic and I felt a sense of belonging.
There are very few priests of the churchs I have attended that are engaged with their people.
I tend to agree with your statement as harsh as it is.
But the truth of the matter God has shown me different aspects of humanity...
My question is how Christian is it for a Bishop to stand down a priest who is on dylasis kidney machine and still able to say mass yet thrown out of his ministry.
The year was 2000 and he cried alone outside a park bench contemplating his purpose and life....
I helped this priest as he vertically was on his own abandoned.
My time as a parishioner I've been fortunate to witness the inner human workings of a cruel church how they the evil Bishops deal with their priests.
Yet ...I've learnt one thing from this dying priest ..we may have communion but we don't have communion with each other....
I was idealistic of how tough his life was as a priest and the crap he had to deal with a beucratic church and lazy uneducated Catholics who wouldn't even know what a Bible looked like or basic aspects of our Faith.
I learnt so much from Father J who died few years ago.
Andrew I can't cope with Christs divinity but I'm more interested in his Humanity.
Not that he is denying Christ's Divinity but he through my Humanity was assisted in his dying years.
Fast forward to 2020 the start of the Pandemic...
Many religious places of worship are closed. Yet every man and his dog are storming supermarkets and all the while people are losing their homes and livelihood.
As a carpenter I was working with a foreign student the UAE broken English.
I met his acquaintance and learnt he was homeless...
I gave this person a room for the night because most shelters were infected by Covid so he slept in his car in the bitterness of winter.
I learnt if his plight and afford him a room in my house.
In the past 12 months I learnt that my behaviour towards Muslims before I met him was like yours my friend... xenophobia hatred bigoted and Righteous..
Yet I've been humbled by his prayer and love of God Allah.
By the way Allah is used by millions of Christians in the Arab world..
Anyhow my friend Mohammed is the best thing that has ever happened in my Life..I've made new friends families of Muslims all welcoming and sharing food and togetherness.
I've never encountered any such fellow ship in any Christian Church.
      I say that with respect.
I helped Mohammed not because I'm a Catholic but because of our common humanity.
I've learnt so much to tolerate difference yet when we sit down I prey the lord's prayer and I see he respects my belief as I his.
The issue I have now realize that your anger and wording is out of mere frustration because you feel Islam has many Christians convert's.
This issue is this...The Catholic church at least in Australia the Catholic education system does not teach the basics of our Faith.
There is zero in Catholic teaching of the incarnation or the Trinity or where does Jesus fit as him being God or Part of the Trinity... nothing is explained ...it's amazing that there is a sprinkling of Catholic faith with just scratching the surface.
Christianity will most definitely fall like it had here in Australia..
It has no meaning no purpose . where at one time the church was vocal on many social issues and moral issues.
The Catholic church has lost its voice it's mute and reluctant to voice her concern for the voice less.
I listen to Mohammed chanting the Koran and zeal for prayer 5 times a day.
I have come to appreciate the rich cultural adpect Islam can bring to our Christian faith.
The question you ought to ask your self mate.
      What would Jesus do??

@@andrewmica1914 look, I respect your life story and you seem like a good bloke. But you can't just base your truth compass on 'what you feel'. You mentioned you were a charismatic. That is one downside of that tradition. The Bible warns us about 'feelings'. It says the heart is deceitful above all things. That is not to downplay the emotional or feelings side of things. God can definitely be felt and found in the realm of emotions. But that must be tempered with solid somber intellectual grit and proper theology.
You're white most likely. So you wouldn't understand the mindset of a Muslim. You have been raised all your life in a society that is open, honest and tolerant. So when you see people give you love you do not suspect any foul play at all. But I am brown. I have had many Muslim friends over the years who did not know I was a Christian tell me "USA is the enemy" while they were studying in a western school. They will always be loyal to their religion first and everything else second. They would sell you out in a heartbeat. Maybe there are some good muslims out there who would be a true friend to you. But then they would be disobeying their Islamic teaching and putting you above it. Aka, they are not very 'good muslims'. A large part of the catholic world sucks yes, with liberal or gay clergy and lukewarm parishioners. But the answer is to clean house and find the few holy ones within the catholic church to support. Go to Latin masses which are generally more serious about their faith
The answer is definitely not to run to an antithetical faith system for answers. An antithetical faith system which constantly tries to wipe out christianity from the face of the earth. That blast out "there is no God but allah" from loudspeakers in Bethlehem (yes I was there) that tried multiple times in history to overrun Christian Europe and enslave the populace. And which ran the largest slave empire and still do today. Watch the documentaries on the slavery in Qatar as they exploit people while getting ready for the 2022 world cup. If you need inspiration from the Arab culture, try to get it from Arab Christians braving the yoke of the Islamic state and all the persecution. Not from the lying frauds that are the Muslim apologists
