26 year old machinist here. I’ve been in the game for about 6 years and I’ve become hungry to take things to the next level! I love the content you guys put out. It teaches me a lot and inspires me to learn more. Good stuff!

Lovely stuff (retired bio-medical engineer/machinist here) Your analogy saying that doctors can't learn any more once they know the human body is wrong.
Think of the human body as the stock or raw material being worked on... The equipment, tools, machines, processes etc evolves at a very similar rate to your CNC, EDM, Grinding etc machines do.
It will blow your mind if you could see what is happening in the medical field compared to just a few years ago.
Keep up the good work guys and never stop teaching - it's the future for all of our benefit.

I’m studying mechanical engineering and love watching your stuff. The way my perspective has changed when I look at and develop parts is crazy. Goal is end up developing the next gen CNC’s.
    Much love from here.

I’m 68 years old, I have been involved in a family machine shop for 51 years. Toolmaking and machining was not just a job, it is my passion and hobby. I always enjoy the challenge.

Toolmakers are a commodity and the way forward. Just scratching the surface. I appreciate the Toolmakers and machinists, old school and new.

I listen to these while I’m at work and have down time helps me keep a good mindset when I think about being on the floor compared to the office I’ll take the work over it any day and any machine I can get my hands on, thank you Titan you help me enjoy my passion even more.

Machining has changed my life for the better I appreciate you guys keep making chips!

I'm going to make this episode required listening for the machining classes I teach.
Excellent distillation of the work and the requirements to succeed in this industry.
    Well done sirs.
    Pure GOLD, absolutely killed it.

I remember meeting Keith in college. He helped our formula SAE team at California State University Chico. The guy hand delivered a check to my team from the Haas Foundation which really helped out since our team was only 3 years old at that point. We also had a really good conversation on manufacuting because at that time we were the only engineering college program with a manufacturing degree and student ran CNC macning center in the north state. This was also the around the time when Titans of CNC was starting to roll out videos too and Keith was starting to see the same vision. Good people

studied mechanical engineering with focus on manufacturing systems in germany. we spend maybe like 10 total hours inside of the forming machine and CNC machine labs with quite general subjects ... we spend a lot talking about it, but basically zero time doing it. (awsome quality shirts btw next level is the best brand name for merch from titans on CnC) finished like 2 years ago. and today it's like every young machinists or interested machinist knows titan. literally changing the world

@@titansofcncpodcastIn order to work CNC, must one be as overweight as you or does that come after taking the job? I think it is neither. I think you are just a lazy slob.

Mechanical engineer here and now I've got a small shop in my garage. At Virginia Tech, all undergrad ME's had to do a senior design project. I was on the FSAE team for 1.5 years and taught the team as a grad student for a year. We had to machine/fabricate our own parts for the car. We only had manual lathes and a CNC Bridgeport at the time, but you learn REAL quick how to design better parts. Easily the best experience I had in college.

I love hearing you guys just chatting about things. The history of shops has always been fascinating to me. I tried to change the culture of "good enough" at the shop I was working at and I was unsuccessful. I'd gotten them some large orders because of the quality I pushed for. I remember making 100 parts then next time it came in it was for 600. At the end of the day the same quality problem I fixed came back in the new part because they just loaded up the old program before I fixed it. The same 0.005" step was there, nobody cared about the appearance of the part except me. I won't be there next time it runs.
When you push endmills hard how do you manage surface finish? Do you add a separate finisher endmill or do you use the same tool on a finish pass?

I was just telling my guys, that we need to dive into more grinding. Every grind shop I go into I am the youngest guy there. And I am 56! These shops are not going to be around in the next few years. I am ready to start my journey into researching for OD and ID grinding machines. CNC surface grinders. Where do we start? My examples are only seeing old style grinders how do I decide what "NEW" style grinder to get? -Jon Schaeffer
