One fabulous voice, a tremendous song based on a sincere true story of deep concern...so beautiful! Benny saved 3 young children's lives, after their father ran out on them.

@@supposedto1159 Tell me about it. All these idiots freaking out as if a 16-year-old is too young and helpless to date an older man. He wrote the song about a 16 yr old girl who was abandoned by her father in his apts back then. He protected her by telling others to leave her alone which became the words of the song. He was interviewed and said this. They interviewed her on the radio she said it all true he helped her survive. . And the attention she got she was married by some millionaire producer. And she thanked him for writing the song about her. The video though was produced by others not sure if it was wisest thing. That moment when this song's chorus has been stuck in your head, then you look it up and the opening line ruins the whole damn thing lol, still like the music tho
Since most of you are typical minded and have the same initial reaction instead of reacting to what an amazing song this is, I feel compelled to say that the fact that Benny can even construct the first 2 lines means that it was a different time, with a different audience who just understood it was well intended and innocent in the realm of a mere song. And I'm very happy that was the case. It was the spirit of the song that had to have that opening to set the feel for it and lead the way into making it what it became. And to me, while it's a cheesy video, I love it because it's lacking such a self awareness that makes it so vulnerable because it's so pure and ambitious. That is what art is supposed to be. So, while "16" stands out in this song to everyone who can't see beyond that, it's still more worthy than most anything you hear in the "age" of such controversial awareness.
eeeek! I love this song! I remember being 16 back in the 80's, being rebellious, promiscuous, and fearless. I had a crush on a man in his mid 20's when i was almost 16. Back then, I thought it was so amazing that the person I was crushing on was interested in me. Now, though, after having raised a daughter, I definitely understand why my parents flipped out when 15 yr old me got caught sneaking out of my bedroom window in the middle of the night and into the hands of my 24 year old "lover"/pervert.
This song is beautiful. You must know the true story behind the lyrics, then you'll see why Benny wrote the song. Check the story out and give the song another listen. I do agree that the video could have been made to capture the true meaning though. A powerful and beautiful voice.

I heard that this was 100% not supposed to be romantic, there's an article (that I've not searched) but the lyrics and video surely don't seem platonic lol!
when you catch yourself humming this song all day and then finally think about the lyrics o.0
I forgot this, and heard it on the radio today. I thank you , a special gift.
Just did the same exact thing!!! Now it #1on my play list!!!
No sea Tonto. Esta cancion es de profiles buscando niñas
Probably would have been better NOT to have a video ....
It's not like the lyrics are any better
Exactly. "Things you wish that you hadn't seen."
@@DEATHBYFLYINGCDSaside from that first line, and the entire video, the song is pretty great, but both of those things exists, so it’s a hard sell…
If he just said 18… I think the age of Consent was 16 at the time it came out, but that was wrong also haha
It’s hard to defend this song in any way
My sentiments exactly -R. KELLY
One fabulous voice, a tremendous song based on a sincere true story of deep concern...so beautiful! Benny saved 3 young children's lives, after their father ran out on them.
No. You're in denial. Wake the "F' up. You like a song written by a pedophile...period. He's literally making out with the girl in the video you dolt.
However, the video didn't do him any favors. I know the story, maybe the video should have reflected THAT.
Vocals are so damn great! Undeniable! Thats all I’m gonna address.
Chick is hot too.
How it is possible to produce one song so perfetct like that? Who It listening in 2023?
I never new how great this song is. He has a great voice
Good god Benny you should’ve hired a 19 year old boy to play the part .. just not right watching this ..
I know, right?!? He looks like he's mid 30s on this video.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!!❤💜
Creepy
Some people ...👿...celebrate perversion.

This song should not be more than a couple of lines.
She’ just 16 years old, leave her alone. Yes sir.
Was home on leave from the Air Force. Last time I saw my mom. Whatever is that about it, this is a great song
The power in this man's voice is awesome, but the message is sicko.
Well here's the thing "to me anyway" my dad was 21yrs.. And my mon was pregnant with me at 16yrs. And they married. I'm now 42yrs. And they still married..lol oh well.but back in the good old days this was common among many families having shotgun weddings...anyhow they happily married with my grandparents consent, now meanwhile here in the future..I'm a successful business owner, single dad myself..but thats life hey'
But here's the thing. If you caught the guy in this video looking in your teenaged daughter's window, how would you feel? I mean, he looks forty. Seperate question: Would you want your teenaged daughter pregnant and married at sixteen? Why or why not?
Joe Sada Jr great story. You can’t fight love. Our fucked up society is so PC it’s sickening.
@@supposedto1159 Tell me about it. All these idiots freaking out as if a 16-year-old is too young and helpless to date an older man. We've broken down the race and gender barriers when it comes to relationships, yet for some reason the age barrier is thicker and stronger than ever. It's getting completely retarded at this point and I'd like to see the trend reverse.
ok but this guy is like 35
@@robertrodriguez787 Wow there's so much stupidity in that statement I won't even bother responding to it.
Thank you Breaking Bad for bringing me back to this classic S02 E04

Incidentally, the singer looks like Kamala Harris.
Rest in paradise
😮 💀
16 is far too old, also, he's not dead, Epstein the Mossad Agent is in Tel Aviv
You're not wrong.
It helps if you don’t over think every single thing in life ,this is a beautiful song ,Bennys voice is amazing . Try to enjoy it without critiquing it so much .Yes it’s an older guy and girl too young for him .But is also about an impossible situation to be in ,in life .
if this 16 yo killed someone, she'd be charged as an adult
My all time favorite song! Benny had an amazing voice!
outstanding vocals....great range/power....
R.i.p Benny your voice is fantastic i thought steve perry sang this like for 15 yrs then i realized it was you no one sings like this anymore Thankyou for a beautiful song
I’m sure he’s burning for eternity with other pedos…but he probably appreciates your comment!
His flippant eye roll at the beginning after pops told him to get lost is pretty funny

Cuando encontré esta canción despues de años es la emoción tan grande que sentí y siento al volverla escuchar, casi no lo puedo creer han pasado más de cuarenta años❤
This song never gets old, and I'm 45! ❤
Im 46 . I know exactly how it feels. The 80's was special.
That kiss at the end was where the phrase "16 will get ya 20" came from.

I'm nearly 38 years old and all my life I thought this singer was black. I never thought a white guy could have a voice like that. Much less one that looks so creepy in this vid, given the song.
My God.
He must be a magic man, got the magic hands.
Yeah this song wouldn't fly today.
I thought the same thing all these year's and lyrics are definitely creepy hide your under age daughter alert.
Omg me too me and my mum were shocked when we found out he was white
You know deep down you're a fuckin racist right?
White?? isn't he Latino?
I thought he was black too
I miss the 80s life was so simple then ...today sucks
Ew ur gross
Those simple days when you could harass a 16 year old girl and crawl into her window like a creep - weird nostalgia
I loved this song. Now listening to it, I’m creeped all the way out lol
His voice omg❤ song brings back good memories ❤
So you were molested at 16 by a creepy 34 year old man?
I was 9 years old when this song came out. It's still a great song 🎵❤😎
seven years too young for Benny.

Good news is the girl is now 60. Now when a 30 year old man comes knocking on the door the lyrics still hold true as follows: “She's 60 years old
Leave her alone, they say...” 😄
Another day "Jehovah"has blessed me through, yet and still I miss my "Heike Boo"I need her to know that she is still the best person that I ever encountered ✌️😢😞.
We all had it great back then.. and we had no idea
Not the kids. We thought it was just as creepy back then as now. Imagine feeling nostalgia about bypassing consent.
Benny was awesome and will never be forgotten!
Lyrics: This was the song
This is the crowd
This is me and the Hurricanes
And this is for you
She's just 16 years old
Leave her alone, they say
Separated by fools
Who don't know what love is yet
But I want you to know
Stunning. Love this video. One of the greatest voices.
I remember this song when I was in middle school,my favorite part when they are flying on the carpet flying over NYC🔥🔥🔥🔥
as long as that carpet don't cross state lines cause then its a federal crime
oh my how things have changed, but his vocal performance is sooo underrated , dude is incredibly talented.
He dead dead now
RIP, Benny. May his voice be as eternal as this creepshow, neo-vampire vid will be.
God I love you for this comment
@@PunkMartyr Love and Respect. :) We may laugh...but we're laughing with Benny and at the vid. But noone's laughing at how well he sang. I miss his voice. Very few sing as well as he did. Many we call Legends did not have legendary voices like his. :)

This song been playing in my head for hours. I heard this years ago on Daliah when I was young but for some reason it popped in my head
That moment when this song's chorus has been stuck in your head, then you look it up and the opening line ruins the whole damn thing lol, still like the music tho
That carpet ride is the greatest ever..
Not much carpet on that ride
Man another one of my forgotten hit! Good to see you again old friend song.
Half the girls in my graduating class were doinking older dudes.
They had money, car and a job.
We walked, no one songs about us.😆
Ok peterfile keep being a creep
He’s actually 17 but smokes a lot 😂
Lol idk
We didn't have interwebz back then. Smoking was a natural response to environmental variables (e.g. Jimmy Carter).
this guy was like 30 when this somg came out.
🤣
lol probably
The me too movement is coming after this video

Idc I'm gonna be 60 I. December one of my favorite skating songs felt so freeing one skates to this beau❤❤❤
I used to live this song. Loved the best the words todo...until I saw the video and really paid attention to the song.
Thank you for the existential analogy of the song, but we're all just making fun of it. We get it.. it was a different time..
@@Thraxxuss That it was. Guess im just too busy enjoying it (well that is . when I listen to it).

You like pedophile voices?
You enjoyed
lol. cus your mind was acting like a victim back then. my uncle and aunt got married when they were 15 or 16. times change.
Wonderful romantic song and Benny’s voice is amazing .
It's even creepier now that I notice the wedding ring on his finger when he's dialing the payphone😱😱😱
ah reminds me of that time before i existed. those were great times
This song is beautiful. You must know the true story behind the lyrics, then you'll see why Benny wrote the song. Check the story out and give the song another listen. I do agree that the video could have been made to capture the true meaning though.
A powerful and beautiful voice.
