Im always listening to 40s junction in the car. I love this music. So classy. Doesnt help that it makes me reminisce about a time i never lived but wished i did. That and Captain America and Peggy Carter together forever.
So do I. Unfortunately, Ms. Holiday had a contract with Brunswick (which Mr. Shaw was unaware of), and they halted this 78 from being released for several years. It's a loss to us all.
NO ANO SEGUINTE EM 1939, ARTIE REGRAVOU ESSE TEMA COM O VOCAL DE HELEN FORREST. FOI MUITO BOA PERFORMANCE, ENTRETANTO ESSA GRAVAÇÃO DE JULHO DE 1938 POR BILLIE REALMENTE É INIGUALÁVEL!!! OBRA PRIMA!
Idk why I'm so drawn to this as a 21 y/o but it's so good, I love this genre of music a lot. It's so addictive, wholesome and entertaining. And it fills me with a sense of nostalgia that I've never even experienced. And Sugar Ray Robinson is my favorite boxer so I guess that might be a part of it, he loved Swing music. Anyways, great song :)
Few could not listen to Billie for hours, especially with her work in the 30s with Teddy Wilson Wish she had stayed with the King of the Clarinet; unfortunately the racism in touring the south with Shaw was too much for her.
COMO COMPLEMENTO DO MEU COMENTÁRIO ANTERIOR, FOI PROFUNDAMENTE TRISTE BILLIE NÃO TER CONTINUADO NA BANDA DE ARTIE POR CAUSA DE UM RACISMO ASQUEROSO E INACEITÁVEL NAQUELA ÉPOCA!!! ESSE PRECONCEITO MONSTRUOSO DEVE TER SIDO A PRINCIPAL CAUSA DA DERROCADA DA NOSSA ETERNA *BILLI HOLIDAY* !!! CURIOSO SALIENTAR QUE QUANDO BILLIE SE APRESENTAVA NA FRANÇA E ATÉ EM PAISES NÓRDICOS, COMO A SUÉCIA POR EXEMPLO (PAÍS DE LOUROS E OLHOS AZUIS), ERA OVACIONADA E QUASE CARREGADA EM TRIUNFO QUANDO CHEGAVA POR LÁ!!! SURREAL MESMO E VERGONHOSO PARA OS ESTADOS UNIDOS!!!
I love Billie and this band is technically proficient but lacks feeling & swag. It’s giving unseasoned chicken tease. Billie’s songs with Count Basie were way better. And her cuts with Teddy Wilson’s band were perfection.
❤❤❤
This tune has a perfectly authentic 1940's sound.
So true!
The recording is eternal and internal. Wish Billie were here now standing beside my piano in 2024 singing her heart out as I played.
No it's 1931 song 💀

Music with taste and style.
It’s awesome how we can easily enjoy this music today after so many years❣️

YES, they were great together. 👍👍👍
Billie when she was young and healthy; nothing like her voice.♥🎹
I sincerely want my friends on Facebook to hear this. Just listen.
very light music🤌
Listening to old songs like this in the 21st century makes me feel like I’ve travelled back in time to the early 20th century.
I sure wish Billie had recorded more songs with Artie Shaw's band. 👍👍👍👍👍
ME TOO ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.

Interesting, I didn't know that piece of history. They sure were terrific together. Thanks for sharing that history with us.@@eleanormartinez8274

Really
The best age of gentle and intimate music! Dancing and Café dates
An ok melody linked with banal lyrics however the vocal elevates the recording to a whole new high. Fantastic playing and singing
Maravillosa!! Mil gracias
*me feeling like i heared that in the fallout radio*

This was actually not 3 years ago this was probably 89 years ago
ain't no way I just summoned all the ghosts in the local graveyard with this song💀
The song year was from 1935.

Perhaps the most over-rated of all Big Band recordings.
