- Indian workers work at assembling line of Escorts Yamaha's RX 100 motorbikes in India. A worker checks the speed of a motorbike. Yamaha RX100 is a 98cc 2-stroke single cylinder aircooled motorcycle. It was M/s Escorts Limited's "Bread and Butter" model for close to 12 years between 1985 and 1996. A nippy motorcycle with great handling, it was an instant hit with the masses. A great machine, all that was ever changed in the 11-year production history were the pinstriping and an upgrade to a 12-volt electrical system.

No because it causes pollution
Pollution is just one reason ( even that can be rectified with a better non polluting engine of the same kind with four stroke specification from Yamaha stable ),..RX 100 kind of vehicles are sturdy, value for money, made with 80's technique which uses mostly hard metal external parts and less of fibre ( which is cost effective ).
Today's trend is to Cut cost,..raise prize tag,..press and fit parts which are less of screws and weight less fibre parts..Also the sturdyness may not last long resulting in people moving fast to another vehicle early which is a benifit to bike makers coz they can sell more vehicles.
Manufacturing RX 100 is no more viable for Yamaha,. technically and economically, which is the hard and sad fact :-(
