    Why don’t they just put bodies in the ground without a casket? That way our bodies go back to the earth where came from to begin with.

      I remember watching a documentary film about a group of people who like to be buried that way but I forgot what they call it.
      The bodied are simply wrapped in cloth and put on some wooden board. They will be carried out in the wood, buried in the ground, no headstone, no mark.

      @@CL-mp4vn that is how the old people do in my country philipines before...but now some people especially the rich prefer cremation because cemetery is getting crowded...i like the idea of korean people...if you have a piece of land you can barried your dead family member on your land as long as on the top of the hill...they just wrapped with cloth and put some incense then the little dozzer carry it on the hill where they gonna barry the dead...although some people who doesn't have land prefer to cremation they can put the ashes in the public cemetery doom...and it looks cleaner their cemetery because everything under ground only you can see a little hill on the top of the grave...

    People concerned about the part where they say that the liquid gets dumped down the drain need to realize that when someone is embalmed most of the bodily fluids get disposed of the same way.

    I am a mortician and I don’t think people realize, once embalming fluid comes in contact with the proteins in the body, it is converted back into its organic state. The only danger is to the embalmer, in the few seconds the container of fluid is open and before it is mixed with water and introduced into the decedent. The fluids that are extracted from the body are 100% biodegradable. The only problem with embalming and burial, is the issue of space.

      @Gabriel TorresFormaldehyde is a naturally occurring substance. It is produced in the human body in small amounts. It is used in countless manufacturing processes and in many products. It is a byproduct of any type of combustion. Many fruits and vegitables contain formaldehyde. It can be found everywhere. It would be detectable in ground water if, the source is near a community of any size. There are thousands of ways for it to get into groundwater.

    Certain water cremation services actually don't pour the liquid "waste" down the drain. It's collected in drums and can be used as natural fertilizer for plants. So basically, your recycling yourself and helping create new life.

      The chemicals involved are kinda like drano. Anyway, something something less space consumed, your nutrients get recovered in a wastewater treatment plant, less material wastage from coffins, etc.

      Water is and has been continuously recycled on this planet since the beginning of time. Look in your toilet, look at the shower drain, look at the glass you just poured..... its probably all been in the same places......

      Exactly what I think! I didn't fancy the idea of being burned, or stuck in an airless (who cares? I"ll be dead!) rotting box. much better to give back my proteins in a useful form for others to use as they see fit. I'd love for my bleached bones to be added to the catacombs in Paris. :)

    Its interesting to see how people have no sense of scale. The CO2 that you would save by this method instead of cremation is anywhere between the amount you put into the atmosphere in 1 to 3 days of just living , heating or cooling your house, driving 39 miles every day, etc

      bruh the funeral industry in general is way more of a cash cow than this. Your friendly local funeral home relies on people wanting "traditional" burials because they can upsell you on caskets and embalming. Maybe YOU should follow the money.

      @@warholbanana6317 The chemicals here are much less harmful and can be leaked into the environment without issue. However, embalming fluids like formaldehyde are extremely toxic for the environment and put into the ground without much thought.

      @krepnata kadara We don't really have that data yet. Even if we had it, it would be hard to tell. Because one big factor is the building of new facilities/tear down of the old ones.
      A bit like repairing your old car is better than buying a new electric car.

    it doesn't matter that the soft tissue part of the body is reduced to chemicals, that it's put back into the water system and ends up as drinking water is a tough sell to the average person who votes for a career politician sitting in the legislature of a state that has to approve this process.
    remember, it's not the facts people are interested in, it's how they *feel* about it -- perception is everything.

    If this breakd the body down into its natural chemical components ie carbon ,nitrogen etc ..couldn't the remaining liquid be used on the land as a liquid manure?? If people were uhappy ( understandably so ) about it being used on arable land to grow crops ,then couldn't the remaining nutrients from the process be used to enrich the soils in forestry ?? Seems like a great idea to me 👍

      In CO that's exactly what they do with it, but it legally can't be sold nor can it be used to grow crops for human consumption. But help revitalize wilderness lands or help grow flowers? Absolutely.

      Fossil fuel are not used to heat the water. They use natural gas! Please take the proper time to research more about water acclamation before saying false facts.

      Most of those chemicals are leftover nutrients from the body. There are some risks as with everything, but it's actually a lot safer than a lot of other options!

      Mayhaps, but this method doesn't release formaldehyde or mercury into the atmosphere. The remains are also extremely nutrient dense and can be used for plant fertilizer, thus helping dispose of excess carbon dioxide!

    As a person who does this for a living I don't see a feature in it. If there are any funeral directors reading this. Think of sit down with a Indian family and tell them exactly what the crematorium process Is all about. The flame cremation will always dominate the industry of cremation.. And I'm sick and tired of hearing about how environmentally friendly these pieces of equipment are The flame cremation will always dominate the industry of cremation..       @@oblongfan1 Cemeteries are good for urban areas in the way parks are. Grass, trees, wildlife. The plants give off much needed oxygen.

    They should make a water scrubber at conventional crematoriums to capture the smoke, then the ashes and Portland cement is added and grandmother is caddy into a flower pot, or a one to two gallon concert block is taken to a highrise moseluem, instead of being transported, or dissolved and dumped down the drain

    My first husband was a sailor. We chose aquamation for his remains. I hope this catches on. I plan on being returned to the ocean I love so much.

    This is what I won't so much better then being buried or burnt in my opinion it's legal in the UK but there's no facilities yet doing it hopefully by the time I go there will be
