Everything fit together like a glove. Much appreciate the quick turn around, my man.
No problem my friend! Was a fun project for sure.
Spring pass, reversed feed.. I like it. Nice work. Helping a friend and giving a machine some new life.. definitely a cool way to use your machines and talent.
You did a really nice job on this, I hope your friend appreciates it!
Rocking J Metalworks - John Brock he very much appreciates it!
With that amount of sticckout I thought you might have used a live center. A great job -top quality work on a superb lathe.
Nice job, keep up the great work. Back on the trip tray for the lathe.👍👍👍
Worked on it last night. More nastiness.
You’re a good machinist, I really like watching you work, don’t take anything the trolls say to heart. When I’m tempted to go all in I remember the saying; only a fool gives another fool the time of day. Nice repair I wish I had a friend with a Monarch 👍🤣
10pm stubbornness is more common than you think - it features regularly in Mr Bozo's box of tricks!
I was nervous that the cast iron would split when you pressed the bronze sleeve in. I'd probably have looked to Loctite. Brave man!
I was wondering about the 1mm eccentricity - possible allowance for final fit of the gear mesh in the factory? Set the clearance by rotating the housing then spot through the holes?
Nice end product, and a very satisfied customer. Well done.
10pm stubbornness, also known as task fixation. Ask me how I know. ;-)
So much fun watching that sleeve pressing in.
It was pretty satisfying to do 😀
Nice job! And a beautiful lathe!
Good job. I always reverse direction bore on critical fits, like you said there is always defection on a boring bar, in fact when I get to the last few passes is when I start reversing my feed. On thing that helps me out is to touch the face before turning the spindle on when I want to do a slight cut, lock carriage, then move in my amount. It keeps clumsy me from digging in
I have parting envy! That Monarch just doesn’t care.
I’m still a wuss with feed too. I think I can feed fast enough to break the tool without creating vibration in the machine.
@@groundzero6662 That's funny.
Good job buddy! Keep it up!
Nicely made video and lathe parts!
Good work. Thanks for sharing.
Nice job......looked great!!
Nice job, should be good for fifty plus years 😀.
Thanks for sharing.
Great work , better them factory !!! Is he going to drill the oil hole? I like to grind a small channel in the bore to help the oil to move Easier. I try put it opposite the load side. Thanks for sharing
Yes an oil groove is certainly a good idea
As a qualify machine engineer, Base lathe operator must be having centering, clamping measuring with careful and clean concept. There have a lot of improving to avoid any mistake and damage again.
Nice Job Sir
Great job 👍🏻
I'm happy more than ur friend
Excellent work mate
I assume that the hand wheel came out ok in the end as you could easily test the parts by assembling them. But when setting up that hand wheel, there is no guarantee that the outside face of the wheel that you placed against the chuck face is perpendicular to its center axis. The wear face must end up perpendicular to the centerline of the wheel. You showed how you centered the hand wheel but you did not show how you indicated the bore to be on the center axis of the lathe.
HI SUNNY, TIP OF THE DAY, PUT THE TOOL UPSIDE DOWN , RUN LATH BACKWARDS, AND PUT A TRAY UNDER HE TOOL THEN YOU CATCK ALL THE SWARF AND CAN SELL IT TO SCRAP METLE DEALER. REGARDS.
Aaron where did you get the black vidmar drawer handle end caps like on the green vidmars behind the press?
I got those from the VIDMAR Lista Quick Ship site. Can’t remember the web address but google that and it will come up and you can see all the stuff they have for (reasonably quick shipment). To make sure they process your order the day you place it, call in rather than the website. I’ve had an order delayed a week that I placed online since it was somehow missed.
Thanks
Why didn't you bring the tailstock in to support it whilst you were doing them chuck jaws....?
At least it would have got you close to centre...
Do you think the outer of that polished handwheel was true with the bore...?
They're often hand finished on a mop...
🇬🇧👍
glenn moreland I don’t think it matters. If the wheel has a thou or two runout from the shaft I can live with it. It’s not going to affect the dial or any operation done on the lathe.
@@stuffandthings8767
Do you think it'll effect the bore in relation to the shoulder...?
🇬🇧👍
glenn moreland nope. It’s on my lathe now and working perfectly. If in 15 years from now I have to replace to the bronze bushing, I’ll let you know though.
@@stuffandthings8767
Ok....🇬🇧👍
A very nice job, but now are chips on your lathe.
Please, Please, PLEASE, Stop leaving the chuck key in the chuck!!!
If you keep clamping parts like that you are going to get hurt one day.
On which one?
On the handle putting it in with the jaws on the wrong side just saying.
But then I flipped the jaws around before running it.
You literally watched him correct that but still feel the need to comment as if he didn’t... coool
