As far as I know, ADHD is only considered overdiagnosed in white male children. Sometimes. It was very well underdiagnosed in me until I was 40.

Well i was taking vigorous notes here about autism, ADHD and AuDHD. It's interesting stuff. You were very easy to understand, i frequently paused the video to get it down properly tho. I paused at the statistics for some time till i made some sense of them in my head. In conclusion i can see how it could b confusing to tell for sure.
PS: so does executive dysfunction mean the same as issue with executive functioning?

Can’t we just slap ADHD on the Autism Spectrum. Or slap autism onto the ADHD spectrum(is it a spectrum?). One or the other, or whatever works?!?!? Anyway, I’m pretty sure I have both. Thanks for making me laugh about all of this. It’s appreciated.

There are some disability advocates that are actually arguing that they are both part of the same spectrum so you're not far off there. I personally think it's more of a venn diagram? Either way do whatever makes you less miserable and if you want to give it a disorder name knock yourself out I guess?? It is quite hilariously stupid if you think about it for too long :)

I think of it as one big rainbowy kaleidopectrum, with lots of moving parts.

Incredibly relatable (dx with ADHD long before autism, despite it being glaringly obvious, but you know, systemic barriers 🤷🏻), right down to the list I have on my phone of my various diagnoses so I can remember them for when I need to! (Along with a multitude of various other lists I have on my phone, which was a disaster before smartphones so I had so many pieces of paper with lots and lots of lists…)

Wow, I just want to say I love your whole personality and the way you (carry?) yourself. After looking at another video of yours about linguistic traits in people on the spectrum, I had to look up if you had compared autism with ADHD, and indeed you have! I resonated with much of what u talked about in both these videos (having ADHD) (although I had to impulsively write about this midway through this video), and I am totally excited about this, everything that you talk about is so interesting, and your enthusiasm is totally contagious.
Another thought that crossed my mind is that I can pick up most things you talk about, and enter in a flow state even, even though English isn't my first language and I often have trouble keeping engaged in conversations in my main language, which is really cool and makes sense on the part that (I guess in adhd and autism?) we need more stimuli both in quantity and quality (the humor, the analogies and stuff) to keep focused and connected. Anyways, I look forward to more of your videos, and I hope you can reach more and more people, aswell as help to destigmatize and disect what these 'disorders' are :)

Id be super interested in hearing you talk about how OCD and SPD and autism overlap. I have had OCD since I was 3 years old (mom couldn’t get me out the door unless my shoes were tied exactly the same tightness) and while not diagnosed with SPD, I have really bad sensory issues (wet hair on my neck makes me throw up, walking barefoot at home without socks makes me cry, lots of food issues, etc). I would love to learn more about SPD, as I wonder if it’s something I may have (or may not).

Yes definitely! I've added it to my list... which means probably a few months lol. But in my experience, a lot of people diagnose OCD when it should be SPD. For example, OCD is "I need to have my shoes at the same tightness because if they aren't something bad will happen to me" and SPD is "I need to have my shoes at the same tightness because it's physically painful/uncomfortable for me". It's the "something bad's going to happen" element that makes the difference, if that makes any sense?

Not saying autistics can't have OCD or both OCD and SPD, but a lot of the outward traits we have can look like OCD but have a different cause. But, much like ADHD vs ASD, people don't look close enough

    • @FiMilton

@@disabled.autistic.lesbian Actually OCD can also be I need to have my shoes at the same tightness for it to “be right” this is a form of OCD called just right OCD which is what I have. I also have compulsions where I could letters in sentences and keep going till they’re even, not because something bad will happen but because that’s the way it has to be or I’ll be distressed. There are a lot of different types of OCD and intrusive thoughts are a big part of it!

@@FiMilton wow thank you for teaching me this! Cause no one ever explained this properly to me... and that's 100% my situation... aNyWhO I still think it does come down to the cause behind the trait. Is it a sensory issue, is it something bad will happen, is it having a hard time when things are different from expectations, is it something else... etc. Anyway, clearly I have research to do and a video will come... eventually, I swear :)

sooo.... like, I reeeally think I may be autistic. I am recently diagnosed with ADHD and undergoi neuropsych eval for autism or neuro disorders. I also have chronic migraine and a host of other illnesses =D haha yeah.... I clearly have ADHD... but yeah, a lot of my traits seem to be shoved under the ADHD umbrella despite apparently being traits of autism

If you don't know any autistic people without adhd, allow me to be the first lol
I've looked at different videos detailing adhd traits and I just don't relate much to them. Autism, on the other hand...XD
