Celebration of Aid in Boudjellil, At-Abbas in Kabylia, in the 1970s

The video is a slideshow of photos from the 1970s which retraces a little the celebration of Aid in Boudjellil, At-Abbas region, in Kabylia. The photos were taken in 1975 and 1977. A few other photos, unrelated to this period, have been deliberately added to just illustrate the context of the time.
At that time, the Aid prayer was celebrated on an esplanade called Taqaats n LDjamaa U3arbi. The prayer was held there for the unique reason, according to several interviewees, that the mosque, Ldjamaa n Chikh u Belqassem, was not large enough to accommodate all the worshippers.
Si Ahmed u ɛissa (Aissat) was the imam n taddart from independence until his death. He was an affable orator, who spoke with moderation and conciseness, an unparalleled popularizer, who knew how to transmit knowledge and help to understand the sometimes difficult precepts of Islam.
His aura was so great that people came from far and wide to listen to him.
If Ahmed u 3issa was also a sage, who, in the company of other sages,
had resolved major conflicts of family, blood, inheritance, …
If Ahmed u 3issa died, 37 years ago, more exactly, on August 8, 1984 at the age of 63.
If Ahmed u 3issa and his companions left us forever
And taqaats n Ldjamaa u Arbi (the esplanade) no longer exists!
Only these few photos remain,
to bear witness to this idyllic scene,
people, mostly older,
dressed in immaculate white,
gathered tasbhit, in the early hours of the morning,
on an esplanade, nnig taddart, called taqaats n Ldjamaa u Arbi,
to pray to God, the creator, Axellaq!

La photo date de la révolution (56/62).eldjamaa ou3arvi étant devenu une caserne ,les prières de l'Aid se déroulaient à djamaa necheik . Il y a un soldat noir,musulman derrière Saïd Rezoug .Je reconnais de gauche à droite :Dai Hamou ,Saïd Rezoug ,le soldat ,Saïd boubou jeddi,Tahar naithsmail (lunettes noires )el vachir bensaadoun. Et puis c'est l'Aid thamajtouhth ,parce qu'il y a les enfants.encore merci ghanou
