Mattys workshop. An old Aussie lad who machines in his shed, very down to earth, unfortunately battling ‘rust’ at the moment but still turning and filming.
Strange to see a moldboard plow in action. I haven't ever seen one in serious use here outside of a demo at a tractor show. When they were used it was in the spring. Now 90% of my area is no-till.
Mostly because most of europe mainly does winter crops, so you need to remove the remaining straw etc because theres only 2-3 months before seeding again, not the whole winter
Got a shout out from Watch Wes Work this week - big fan - does mostly cars but recently fab'd up a bucket and set up a cnc plasma cutter - competent guy in a lot of disciplines
I first came to your UA-cam channel also because Wes mentioned that he watches your channel and to check it out. I've been watching his channel for years.
Great videos mate. Lovely to hear a proper British accent from up Narth. I use furniture wax on any bare surfaces in my shop. I’ve got exactly the same problem. Obviously you can’t use it everywhere, but it helps. The other trick is to throw an oily rag on it when it’s not in use. Keep up the great work mate.
Fitting a DRO to older machines really makes it so much easier to know where the tool is. Topper Machine LLC in Wisconsin USA has fitted DROs to several of his old machines. He keeps buying old machines for his workshop because of how reliable they are. Another very interesting channel. He also has a shop built sawmill (a big one) and he keeps bees as well and also does railroad work occasionally.
Ah! Glad you mentioned Wes. I had forgotten who directed me to your channel! I was born and raised on a farm and I can appreciate the great work you do!
Welderfabber, Matty’s workshop, CEE, zip ties and bias plies, DD speed shop , o’l 2 stroker, KT3406, iron king are some of my favourite UA-cam channels, alongside snowball engineering of course!
A good video again Oliver. It's good how you use your brain..you think things out and explain to us, and get the right outcome of coarse. A cute little critter at the end.
Great job 👍, keeping the Magnetic base as an option was a good move. Just need a job for the line borer / welder now. *Matty's Workshop* is an Aussie and recently was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Kurtis at CEE started a go-fund page to help him and his family bear the costs. Unfortunately Australia's healthcare still requires patient payments for some treatments. He is a great guy and he is mostly old school. Thanks for the post, really appreciated, it is Snowball Sunday, best day of the week 👍 Take care, be well.
@@snowballengineering Awesome mate, Matty is the same as me, an old engineer, who is still in love with engineering. I'm just really pleased that his focus can be on his treatment and not on his finances 👏
May not be the easiest to use but I think again you have found a cost effective solution to advancing your capabilities and business. I always enjoy the farming bits , I grew up on a farm in Western Canada , English + Scottish hereditary, I am an engineer and was sent by a multinational company to manage the European Operations out of Manchester , we enjoyed out time in the UK and the European continent . I watch WWWork and love his trouble shooting , WelderFabber , IC weld , ABom79 and others , I enjoy your channel it would be fun to introduce your Dad and have him explain the history of the farm .
Hi Oliver. I found your channel from WWWs shout out. I was pleasantly surprised to see you were a fellow Yorkshireman. I also subscribe to Cutting edge. Curtis's outtakes crack me up, and homeless is far too cute. Anyway, I look forward to working my way through your playlist.
Abom is more of a machinist kind of channel. But the man knows his stuff. He upgraded his shop a couple of years ago aswell, but he really knows what he's talking about when it comes to machining parts, material knowledge and more. Uncle Tony is also good forike more hobby machining, but explained it rlly simple. I watch more machining channels since that's my interest/job but these are some of the guys i watch that still learn me things
@@fowletm1992 Completely agree, i use to watch everything Abom uploaded, the last few years have gone downhill and moved away from the core ethos of the channel. Having said that it's obviously working for him and i do come back to it now and again.
I used to enjoy watching abom but now it's all padding out videos and shilling products. I'm here to watch the work and maybe learn something while figuratively "hanging out in the shop", not listen to a sales pitch. I get enough of that at my actual job.
The thing that I like the most about SnowBall engineering isn't the welding fabrication and builds it's just the genuine and humble side of Olly Big respect to all farmers you are all amazing
Abomb79. From Florida U.S.A. Great channel. He makes his videos very easy to follow even for people not very well versed in matching. This Old Tony also very good. Keep up the videos and bettering your craft. Good luck from the USA
Glad to see your subscribers grow! I've enjoyed your content since finding your channel. We need to get Kurt at Cutting Edge Engineering to give you a shout out as well. I "think" he has the most subscribers of any machinist channel on UA-cam.
I saw the WWW episode in which he mentions your channel. That was less than 2 weeks ago. I subscribed after watching your loader bucket build at that time and since then you've added over 400 new subscribers. Again well done all around.
your Harrison lathe should easily be able to face anything you can swing in the gap by 1 put compound slide parallel to cross slide and back tool post out 2 reverse compound slide completely 3 reverse QCTP and have tool on the back that's a very capable lathe i love the content and the shout out from Watch Wes Work
Very handy being able to make and modify your own tools to suit what you need to get done. That bore welder attachment for your line borer is going to make a big difference to the ease of doing tricky jobs. Great job setting it all up. Looking forward to seeing it in use some time.
you kind of ran through my play list , farm craft and salvage workshop are couple of good ones as well. I cant believe how fast things rust where you are I put a metal foof on a cabin weeks ago and i want it to rust but its real slow
Another good one Ollie, dont change ought remember how you got here, it works. Many times youtubers change their format and ruin the channel. All the good channels, www, cee, south main auto channel deisel creek etc are the same now as they were originally...dont break what aint fixed err i mean dont break too late..no you know what i mean😅
Great content as always, keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing it in action! Another channel that I enjoy watching (in addition to the ones you mentioned already) "Make It Kustom". Carl's another great fabricator / metal shaper and teacher (more automotive if you like all things cars).
Hi there you need to take the collar off the top of the post and use it as a stopper so you don’t run in to your mounting plate. Loving your work keep it up
Great content, using a bore welder is really NOT easy. But with your craftsmanship it will undoubtedly work out fine👌. With a Mig pulse device you can get rid of the spatters...
Yes, I got here from Wes, your channel is awesome. I’m going to drop your name into Abom 79’s and a few of the other big UA-camrs, you deserve the subs young man. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland UK.
It's great to know that you watch the stuff that I watch. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and watching these different channels makes the world feel a lot smaller. What do you grow on your farm?
The hedgehog thanks you and so do we! Another really interesting video. You can probably trap the gas in using some thin wood or cardboard sheets. Getting the bore welder to do what you want it to do will probably take same time, but will be worth it. Thanks for the video!
Hi, if you place the mag base on a sheet of cardboard it lowers the friction between the base and the table whilst positioning. By moving the cardboard you gain a mechanical advantage as you are moving the magbase at the work surface level. Sorry, hung over and failing to describe things well:)
2nd thought. Once collar is made, cut it into two. A lot easier to fit and then remove considering the lower angled nozzle(s). Also put some sort of flange on the top face so that the collar doesn't fall through.
To keep enough shielding gas inside the hole maybe you can place a simple collar on top of the hole, for tight jobs maybe you can made a hinged split collar with a spring that keeps it closed so you can easily place it once the welder has raised a bit. Coogle for pictures of a "squeeze tri-clamp" to better understand what I mean, just ignore the locking feature.

While it could for sure do that, since it would be cutting air most of the time, I bet the mill was faster.
