  • Take us to Tuscany! We found a popular recipe for a Creamy Garlic Tuscan Salmon dish that's a riff off of an Olive Garden favorite, the Tuscan Chicken. We're talking garlic, butter, heavy cream, sun-dried tomatoes and yummy flaky salmon - we are so excited to make this at home. This dish sounds amazing and we hope it lives up to our expectations because it's getting cold and we need a warm comfort dish for dinner tonight. What can make this better? A nice carb side, some wine and good company. You ready to join us in our home kitchen? Sorry, we wish we were in Tuscany too!

    QUICK TIPS WE LEARNED AFTER TEST:
    1. Use the heavy cream! Go all the way, but if you want to be a little healthier use half&half and heavy cream mixed.
    2. The recipe calls for a cornstarch slurry as an option, you won't need it. If you use heavy cream it will thicken up on its own naturally.
    3. Great with a nice carb like potatoes, rice or pasta. If you're keeping this keto friendly then steam vegetables would be a great pairing.
    4. We left the skin on our salmon so if you don't feel like taking it off, it's ok we thought. Still yummy!
    5. We drained a little of the oil out before adding the butter. You can keep it in, but that's unnecessary fat.
    One recipe, tested by two cooks!

    This is a great recipe. I make it a healthy mediterranean meal by replacing the cream with 0% fat greek yogurt. Be sure to whisk in slowly so it doesn’t curdle. Oh and I remove the salmon skin before frying to eliminate that funky burnt fish skin smell.

      Thanks for the tip! It’s always good to have a healthier alternative. Love Greek yogurt.

    Why doesn’t the fish have seasoning

    • @FriendsTestKitchen
      @FriendsTestKitchen  3 роки тому

      Honestly, if you season the cream sauce to your liking it's delicious. But there's no reason not to season it, we love building flavor.

      We haven't tried it but assume it would be great. Another idea is to make the cream sauce and pour over your white fish which is more delicate. Let us know how it turns out.

      The recipe calls for Heavy Whipping Cream or sometimes called just Heavy Cream. If you use Half & Half or milk it's not thick enough.

    5 mins frying salmon on both sides is too long. Sorry , no offense . But 2/2,5 mins are enough for getting salmon ready . Then few means steering with the sauce will get it done . Much softer , tender .

      that is just one of the many problems with this video. “I’m not the biggest fan of outting white wine in food”??? substitute wine with stock??? they obviously don’t understand the reason you put wine in food. they have no idea what they are doing. this is bad even for amateurs, and they definitely shouldn’t be teaching people how to cook.

    How long do you cook the salmon in the creamy sauce?

    • @FriendsTestKitchen
      @FriendsTestKitchen  3 роки тому +1

      Not long at all, probably 2-3 minutes only. Just enough to get it covered in the creamy sauce.
