    may you bless us creatives with your huge sparks of inspiration for a very long time!!!

      biggest decider for me was these things being built and integrated directly into bitwig itself, not tacked on

    Absolutely incredible effect. I am ever impressed by the consideration to actual music-making and exploration outside of the bog-standard "8-bar loop with EDM vibe" that you guys have. True artists!

    That micro pitch modulation is pretty mind-blowing!

    The more I hear about these really cool features in Bitwig, the more I like it! I’m usually a Logic user and while its a very capable & professional DAW (that has the amazing Drummer feature and the ability to process Surround-Sound & Spatial Audio), Bitwig can really help you get out of that writer’s block rut with features like this!

    Bitwig makes it so easy to create sounds you never would’ve thought to make. I could spend hours just toying around in bitwig :)

    I'm so happy to see this video. Microtonality was on my list of things to hope for in Bitwig, but I bought the full Bitwig Studio and then realised I'd forgotten to check this. It looks as if you guys have it covered :)

    Coming back to this in late 2023, I'm struck by the possibilities again, now that we have global modulators... it's now possible to have multiple instruments on different tracks, and gradually change them to a new tuning over time with just a handful of global modulators. This is really exciting stuff!
    Side note: quite amazing to think that Bitwig was capable of this four years ago, and yet still won't correctly export my piano solos as MIDI with pedals included. PLEASE fix that, guys!

    Extremely powerful, Ableton needs these features, especially when they integrate MIDI 2.0. Bitwig is always making me jealous.

    I like the sound of that! Satisfying demonstration of the musicking potential of playing outside twelve equal divisions of the octave (12EDO). The last example was particularly effective with the arp bass trick and all the modulation options. Had been playing with micropitch during the beta. This makes it obvious that it’s more than a gimmick.

    • @soundfx68
      @soundfx68 5 років тому

      Agreed on that last example. Can't say I was a fan of MP before, but that sounded really cool, spooky!

    😂 I only just downloaded and installed Beta 6 today, and 3.1 is released before I even had chance to open it! Your development rate is officially too quick to keep up with. Great job, well done to all the team. To paraphrase Matt Damon, time to micropitch the shit out of this 😁

    are you able to connect it to a sampler for example

    • @bitwig
      @bitwig  3 роки тому

      Yes. Micro-pitch passes on data to any type of instrument. It will work natively with the Bitwig Studio Sampler. If you use a third-party instrument, that instrument needs to be MPE compatible.

    Hi Bitwig great DAW!! Congrats.
    I have often wondered why developers have never (unless i am mistaken, which is very possible) taken advantage of alternative midi controller functions. For me it is such a pain to write midi with a mouse, it has no immediacy and i think saps creativity as your brain moves from one side to the other. I was thinking a midi keyboard could be seen as a giant mouse but instead of one right click it has a potential of 88 right clicks(without the added carpal tunnel.) if you want an A4 note you hit A4 on midi controller and it is there in the piano roll. I understand if you hit record and play your keyboard that is exactly what happens but it would be nice to do this offline as well as it were. A bit like an old fashioned sequencer but that can be polyphonic as well would be nice to either by pressing down an entire chord or having a function that when you press a group of notes in sequence they stack lack a chord,rather than a melody sequence and it is already written for you. Great as well to be able to change the beat division of each note you press. Rather than the usual sequencer mode by which it is all the same beat division. the possibilities are endless. Could we be able to write more than one track at a time with keyboard splits? It could start to control your DAW like keyboard short cut functions? Please it is time to re purpose the midi controller, they are these wonderfully big units with many buttons, quite expensive yet only serve one function.
    Sorry to annoy you with my musings, however out of all DAW developers i believe Bitwig to be the most forward thinking when it comes to the end user. 'Do the same thing get the same result.' More and more people are using midi its really time to over haul the whole philosophy surrounding the piano roll. for me it is an after thought tool for editing not a platform for creation as it stands, far to analytical not immediate enough.

    Can you import scala files with tunings with more than 12 notes an octave such as 31 edo?

    Could be neat to explore this project file. While some parts are easy enough to reproduce, it’d be inspiring to have the whole thing and check what’s going on.

      M M not bashing RDJ. was indeed a bit of hyperbole. Detuned stuff in this vid made me think of the doctored piano he used in drukqs. And how crazy that stuff sounded.

    Should add video editing tool as well :) for movie background scoring :)

    • @BBQBrizkit
      @BBQBrizkit 5 років тому +3

      Exactly this. This is the only feature that’s keeping Bitwig out of the film/game audio realm, when realistically it should be at the top. So easy to create cool sfx with Bitwig but they’re missing out on an entire market right now until they add video editing tools. Until then I’m stuck with Logic haha

    • @BBQBrizkit
      @BBQBrizkit 5 років тому

      Lou it’s been years since I’ve used FL, but what I was referring to was the sound design methods on Bitwig make it easy to create complex sounds that wouldn’t always be fitting for a musical track. Better fitting for sound fx for film, but they don’t support that feature yet.

    Will vsf instrument recognizes the micro tonality? Or just the Bitwig instruments?

  • @kaeptn
    @kaeptn 4 роки тому +1

    could I get the last snippet/song as a demo project? I tried to recreate the random and step modulator only resetting every 2cond bar but can't get it to work like that. nevertheless that tune is worth fininshing, sounds great and eerie!

    • @bitwig
      @bitwig  4 роки тому

      The timing settings on the Steps/Random modulators are simply: Rate=2.00 / Timebase=bar / Trigger=Sync(Transport)
      This way the change occurs on every 2nd bar.
      We'll see if we can dig out the project and eventually share it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Thanks for your interest!

    >>> Propaganda destroys greedy people. The program is anachronistic, old DOS style. It is very heavy on quad-core processors. It does not use the super fast memory of graphics cards.
