    Great review!
    I shoot most of my cinematic video’s with the Sony a6000 + sel 35mm 1,8 OSS lens. Really sharp lens and great performance, especially at low light situations!

    Thanks for this review. I am using this lens 90% of the time on the Sony A6000. Great image quality and sharpness.

      Hi Jit. What lens do you use the last 10% and for what kind of photos does the 35mm 'not work'?

  • @ActuallyGoose
    @ActuallyGoose Рік тому +3

    Stupid question, but as this is an apsc lens, does that mean it's actually 35mm, or still suffers the 1.5x crop factor

    • @j-n-y
      @j-n-y Рік тому +2

      1.5x on top of the 35mm. So it means this lens is ca 52mm.

    Hello George. I'm starting to prepare my trip around Japan and so, I will buy my first camera. I'm not a vlogger, I just want to take some good photos.
    I chose the a6000, but I have doubts regarding which lens I should choose, if the kit lens (16-50mm), or 35mm f1. 8 (or other).
    As I'm quite new to photography, and I still have a lot to learn and to experiment so, which one you think is the best choice for me?
    Thank you
    Awesome video btw :)

    • @trym2121
      @trym2121 5 років тому +10

      If you're new, just experiment with your kit lens first, walk around and take photos, simulate you're doing a trip, maybe go to nearby city, village, scenic place, etc. SHOOT RAW&JPEG! When you come back, look at the focal length you're using the most. Software like lightroom and such can easily look at that info. This is rule of thumb. If you're fond of architectural you'll will surely see that you're around low 16mm spectrum. If you're on the street between building, you'll probably end up around 20-30mm. If you're taking picture of person you'll be around 30-50mm.
      Never get fullframe sensor advice for apsc, they behave very differently, 1.5x of that.
      16-50 kit is adequate but flagship phone 2018-2019 has decent quality to justify using the phone exclusively (light, simple, etc). Even worse you should get at least f/2 or f/1.8, otherwise you can't really catch up with exposure (phone also mostly uses below f/2). It becomes a pitfall of money sucking from there on. Never buy 50mm for your first apsc lens unless you're into that kind of work as that's very narrow for most place, mostly for potrait.

      @@trym2121 You just answered all my questions!
      The advices you gave me here are priceless. Will make sure to save your reply somewhere in my PC :)
      I have to confess that I've been wondering if a decent smartphone couldn't be, for now, the best option for me (as I really need to upgrade my current phone).
      I would love to get into photography, but saving for a big and expensive trip, and also a new phone, is not that easy.
      Also, the new Sony a6100 will be released soon. Will keep an eye on future promotions... who knows when I can give the big step in photography.
      Thank you for your time.

    so if i were to put this 35mm lens on an a7 it would be 50mm in that camera?

    • @PixelSplash999
      @PixelSplash999 4 роки тому

      No, it would be 35mm. On aps-c being a crop sensor. You multiply the focal length by 1.5, thus giving an equivalent focal length of 50mm. This would only apply if you had a full frame 35mm lens that would cover the full frame sensor. Like the Zeiss 35mm 2.8. If this lens was used on the a7, then it would crop the sensor. Pointless to use on a full frame, as it is designed for crop sensor only.
