This video was slightly shocking to me as someone from a heavy rice eating culture and retired professional chef. Everything from the delayed start, to opening the lid during cooking, checking to see "how it was doing." But most of all, disturbing the rice before completing cooking. My ancestors.
Thank you! I just order mine few days ago. It has a good reveiw online but this video help a lot. Good medium size rice cooker is what I need. As a Taiwanses background, rice means lots to me. My apt is small so the usually size rice cooker won't work. I recently tried the mini rice cooker and that scared me due to the inside spring seen very off. I'm prayed this will work
Are you still happy with it? I bought one last week. The first thing I cooked was brown basmati rice. I used two cups of the supplied cup and the required of water. It took 55 minutes and the bowl was 2/3rd full! Next was steel cut oats. Once again 2 cups of grain. It took 70 minutes and the bowl was 3/4 full. The worst about cooking the oats is that after a short time oat liquid started pouring out of the steam vent - it went everywhere. The inside of the lid can't be removed for cleaning like I can with my Instant rice cooker. Heaven only knows what's under there after the overflow. There is no way I would put more than 2 cups of any grain in the cooker. And then there's the lack of an external condensation container. Collecting it under the lid is really poor and cheap design. Honestly, this a cheap piece of junk which is a pity as it's a really good size for a small kitchen. My Instant rice and grain cooker which the Nutribullet was going to replace leaves it far behind.
Thanks of the sharing. It is always recommended not to open the lid that will greatly affect the steamer process.
He really kept opening that lid during the cooking….
I was going to say the same thing, totally a “dad” move …😂 ! Great video.

Just a DAD, check out the Tiger brand and or the Zojirushi (baby elephant brand) rice cookers.
