    Aah, Karen... ❤ Don't beat yourself up. Make it about healthy eating rather than weight loss. I have spent most of my adult life dieting, trying to keep the weight off, regaining it... and do you know what? I'm still overweight! Conclusion - diets don't work! A few years ago I said "Enough!" And I decided I would just be the best I can be whilst living life as I want to. I do eat healthily anyway (fellow veggie here!) but not in a 'weight loss' way, I don't do junk food or takeaways, I work out 2-3 times a week, walk daily, don't smoke, drink little... but if I fancy a cake I have one. Guess what? I haven't ballooned, in fact I've lost a little bit of weight. I no longer obsess about food/weight - seriously it's liberating! I think I make better choices now knowing I'm not 'on a diet'. I'm just sharing my experience which may or may not be helpful. Take care and be kind to yourself Karen. You are so very much more than the size of your arse!!!! Xx

    Yes, I’m right there with you! Needing to rein things back in, I’ve really fallen off plan for myself. I find it hardest when I’m at home all day, I’m much better when I’m at work. Good luck to us both!

    I think you’re right to stop and reflect.
    It’s one thing knowing something but another actually putting it into practice. Something else is going on isn’t it? And you’re probably right to recognise the stress you’re feeling right now.

    I know from years of dieting that your head definitely needs to be in the right place before you can move forward. I think the big change you have had in your working life will have had an impact on how you are feeling. Put things on hold until after you holiday & just relax & enjoy it xx

    Morning Karen, very interesting & honest video which I really enjoyed. I’m 72 nearly 73 😱 & like you have suffered with my weight most of my life. Tried all sorts of diets in my time. I suffer from degenerative spine issues in my neck & lower back & also neuropathy chronic pain which affects my standing & walking for any length of time. For me, I listen to my body most of the time. I don’t eat anywhere near the amounts I used to, obviously not burning off the calories as I can’t exercise but I am also not going to deny myself pleasures, such as an ice cream or biscuits (see plural!) or chocolate bar. I am happy in my skin, I wish I was thinner, putting socks on would be easier 😂.
    So Karen, I wish you all the best in your efforts to get a grip to that naughty side of you that let’s you get carried away. Don’t be too hard on yourself you are a lovely person & most definitely an inspiration.
    Sorry for my ramblings but you did touch a nerve with me. Se you again soon ☺️🤗🌻😘

    Karen I agree it’s so hard. As someone else has said I try to focus on healthy eating rather than weight loss. I also find not eating until lunch helps me but honestly I have tried literally everything. My body just seems to be happy where it is. Good luck hun, I appreciate your honesty. Remember to be kind to yourself xx

    Oh Karen. Thank you for sharing this. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I am with you as I need to exclude “naughty” foods as unfortunately if I eat them I definitely fall off the wagon 😢

    Aaaw Karen ❤️I know exactly how you feel. All my adult life, I’ve been an emotional eater 😬Even dieting when I was slim…crazy. Most “diets” work though. At the moment I try to eat a Mediterranean Diet, eating only from 10am to 7pm, I’ve been ill and have a terminal condition( non-cancer). The only cure is lifestyle, keeping blood pressure stable, moderate exercise, and good diet,like you, I find it hard not too eat bad foods when I’m tired, bored, happy sad whatever! I wish you all the best getting back to it…definitely not easy🤷‍♀️Good luck with your friends book too, it’s worth a shot xx

I've lost just over 2 stone recently but I'm finding I'm falling back into bad habits, I love crisps and chocolate but I'm trying to get on top of it again, so can totally relate to how you're feeling.     I'm not a diabetic but what has worked for me ever since I was a chubby teenager and started eating sensibly when I was about 18: eat slowly and eat whatever you want but in MODERATION. I'm 61 now and weigh 11 stone.

    Hi Karen, great honest video. I think most people struggle with any kind of diet / eating plan . I could not live without carbs, thats basically all I eat 🙈

    Karen I really enjoy your channel and a regular viewer .. I’m on holiday this week my eating is a little out of control .. But I’ve been around Mood Hoovers which is not good for my well being .. love your honesty .. I’m also a grazer .. with certain foods .. but im positive to back on track By Monday xx

    Hi Karen, the struggle is real! I hear ya! As I too am struggling like mad with carbs …. I don’t eat sugar and haven’t since January due to being diagnosed with diabetes (I chose diet control over meds) and I’m so proud of cutting out sugar and boy it’s hard! 🤦‍♀️ but the carbs I had to add a little few back….. I understand how people can fall off the wagon mind … it’s gotta be hard not eating meat too…. Increase any protein you can and veg. Nuts are good but as you say are calorific too… we can’t bloody win eh! I chew a LOT of minty gum while I drink black weak tea lol 😂 I wish I could get back to being a size 10-12…. The diet wagon is relentless isn’t it. It’s about finding a new way of eating full stop without it being a “diet”. It’s refreshing to hear you talk about your diabetes…. Please feel free to reach out to me about this , maybe we could buddy up for food accountability and stuff…. Xx

    Aww Karen. Everything you say is me! . I am type 2 diabetic. I don't eat big portions but I am a grazer. I do weigh every Monday to keep track of my weight and to be honest I either gain a lb or lose a lb. I have about 2 stone to lose and I'd be happy. Within half hour of having my meal, I'm in the cupboard. Crisps are my downfall. Tried not buying them and biscuits but like you I'll find something! Then I'm still not happy. Been aldi today and the rubbish I've bought is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I do eat fruit, yoghurts, fresh food, salads but want, not need, the rubbish. Good luck, I'll be watching with interest xx

      Hi Muriel ... I just love junk food lol. I think if I wasn't diabetic then I would be happy but it's such a pain having to think about what you're eating. Maybe we should go shopping with blinkers on lol xx

    Hi karen, oh, I could so relate to your falling off the wagon and why we do it? I'm not really sure. I think a lot of it's boredom, and if things are not proving to be positive for us at that particular time, we'll turn to food. In my time like yourself, I have done every diet under the sun. At my heaviest, I was almost 14 stone and a size 20, and at my lightest, I was 9st 6llb and a size 10. Now I'm around 9st 10llbs and a size 12, but oh my word, do I have to work at it every single day to keep at that weight, and yes, I too fall off the wagon. But I will say that low carbs always has my back. It is the only healthy lifestyle that works for me, and when I'm doing it properly, it always works, and it works well. So karen jump back on that wagon and ride it well even if it's only to keep your diabetes in check that's worth its weight in gold. Good luck for next week, and have a lovely weekend. ❤ X

    I totally get what you’re saying as I’m exactly the same. I lost two stones at Slimming World two years ago, and I’ve kept that off, but I cannot shift the rest. I have various health conditions and cannot exercise, and shifting any more weight has proved impossible. At the moment I’m not snacking, and I’m still maintaining my weight, but I can’t shift anymore. I’ve just had a breast cancer scare and had to have a biopsy, luckily I’m ok and I’m so relieved, it was five weeks of worry. I thought I’d lose weight during this time but I haven’t. I have type 2 diabetes, I don’t eat cake, sweets, choc or biscuits at all. So my problem is too many carbs and I know I’d be eating like a sparrow just to lose weight. I gave up nuts too and crisps and snacks. It’s incredibly hard to stick to a weight loss plan but I keep trying. Im going to give that book a go, on audible. It’s about changing my ways for the rest of my life. I love eating, I’ve had a great 60 plus years enjoying my food so why can’t I do this? The doctor says my life would be probably lengthened by low carb diet. It’s so difficult for me though. Im grateful for your honest videos thank you Karen and good luck. You have a real talent for you tube I know you’ll do really well. Have a lovely holiday 💕

    Omg it’s so hard , l tried to give up crisps and Pringles and it was harder than giving up smoking .
    I love food this is the problem . I have an under active thyroid which is controlled my meds so that’s fine .
    I’m exactly like that with food . I used to be under weight and was bullied for ,it now I’m over weight. I’ve never really dieted .
    Also because I’m on a tight budget rice and pasta are my main meals and that’s what the nurse at the GP told me to eat .

      Crisps are my downfall Debbie! I'm not sure that GP's or nurses are really on board with the low carb diet ... hopefully it will filter through to them eventually. I have never smoked so that's one thing less for me to worry about lol x

    Oh Karen I can so relate! I first went on a diet when I was 14 and under 8st! I have always been an emotional eater and turn to food for comfort when stressed, sad or bored. I hope the audio book works and sending all the every best - and have a fab holiday ❤❤❤❤

    I have been fat all my life 14lb at 10 weeks old,I have never dieted,though I can’t tell you why,I’m now going to be 79 next week,and I’m still fat.I have been very lucky health wise,no diabetes,and no real problems,I have worked at jobs where I stood on my feet all day,I was forcibly retired when COVID struck,as my employer closed his business,and at 75 who was going to employ me.I hope you can continue on your weight loss journey,but remember every time you go off you diet the body hangs on to every bit of fat it can,because it thinks it is starving,that’s why when people go off their diet,they gain the weight back,and extra pounds,I worked with a dog rescue as a hobby,and the same thing happens to dogs that are under weight,you start to feed them normally,and they get fat.Have a good vacation.😊

      Hi Lisa try eating berries with high protein yoghurt 60g berries 30g yoghurt
      Frozen Berry mix is tangy but I put sweetener and cinnamon on them.
