One time I was waiting for a Metro bus and this boy who looked like a teenager or possibly preteen was standing nearby and kept getting close to me. I kept looking at him crazy and was about to say something to him until I realized he had something wrong with him. Down syndrome or something and then I noticed he was being assisted by an adult male. I felt bad afterwards and I'm glad I didn't say anything to him. I was about to tell him to back the heck up and that he was rude. Lol. It must be hard for the chaperones, especially loved ones, who watch over these types of kids and fearing somebody will mess with them or not realize something is wrong with them mentally and that it is not their fault. Always having to explain that to ppl, too.. I feel for them and the kids. 😢

@@E.V.A.N-COProductions I understand that. But I excused him bc I could tell he didn't have the mental capacity to understand that what he was doing was pretty bothersome. Wrong video, Fester. Anti-Black buzzwords don't go here.
It takes a small man to hit an autistic child. So sad and uncalled for.
by the way he recoiled his arm after slapping, you can really tell what a coward of a man he is, truly despicable.
I agree, but the one supervising the autistic child should have not allowed him to bend / destroy that mans property. Guess he would have been more in the right to slap the supervising older sister or the childs mother / father. Either way the dude got his merc messed up, likely his baby, his pride and joy, and someone recklessly destroyed the hood ornament. Be it on bad parenting, autism, hot temper, or whatever, I'd say slapping the kid quick and obviously not full on swing, knock em over kinda power, is a far better reaction vs what crazy stuff you see others doing these days... I mean they are living out of a vehicle, what if the dude decided to call the cops? Press charges? Dad would likely rather he just give his son a lil slap at the end of the day. The whole situation is just wrong all around from all parties involved. Sucks it's a kid stuck in the middle tho :/
I dont know at that point that he knew the kid had autism….but u shouldnt go slapping a random kid regardless.
🙄 how the hell would he know the kid was autistic? All he probably saw was a kid vandalise his car and sit there laughing about it.
Maybe his carers should control the kid better to avoid. Maybe make him wear a shirt that clearly explains his mental condition.

From a smack? What is the family supposed to do exactly? I get what you’re saying but a severely autistic kid has no cognitive ability to understand right from wrong and are non self directing. So finding someone to put the blame on, in this situation is hard.

IM GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN HERE but as far as I can see, it doesn't even qualify as a slap because he barely touched him. I understand his anger of his car getting damaged and kid who did it is laughing and the family wasn't in any position to make it Right! Did HE KNOW the kid was Autistic or proof that he did?? THAT BEING SAID NOBODY SHOULD EVER LAY A HAND ON ANOTHER MANS KID!! An adult doing this is crazy!!!
Not sure what the mother said or what language barriers existed, but I doubt the driver knew the child was autistic. People will clamor on that though just like any hate crime where people throw around somebodies disabilities/ethnicities/etc in order to justify more punishment. It's also a shield to muffle the outrage bad behavior would normally result in.
I could understand if the child (or mother) said that they were autistic and then bent the drivers emblem back. Don't think this situation went down like that.
The autistic child was not laughing, he is too autistic to understand the situation. what you are seeing is not laughter and it is not malicious. You can see the older sister talking really fast to the man, I will assume she is trying to explain and apologize for what has happened (that is what it looks like). The older sister is NOT laughing OR smiling, she is very serious and concerned because she understands the situation and she looks scared. Yes the child damaged the mans car but that does NOT, under any circumstances, justify a grown man hitting a child he doesn't even know! In what world, does what the man did, help the situation or fix the car ornament in any way ?
Whatever, maliciously putting your hands on a LITTLE KID automatically makes you the one in the wrong.
his car wasnt damaged though, and he knew it. those ornaments are on a spring mechanism, they ALWAYS have been. they bend 360* without breaking, and if pushed back specifically, they'll lie back. pull them slightly up or forward, and they return to the upright position. maybe you somehow went rhoguh life never touching a hood ornament to not realize this, but every single Mercedes owner knows this. he knew to an absolute certainty that nothing was broken or damaged in the least. he just got so upset over a small, young child DARING to touch his car, that he pulled over, got out, screamed long enough for someone to record, then slapped him

I know from experience that many times kids with Autism are never held to any standard, because the parents are completely incapable of dealing with the child. So, when the poor child comes into contact with normal people “in the wild”, the kid is likely to get themselves in trouble.
This.
Yes, my friend has a special needs brother and her family is very careful with him in public.
Autistic adult here, yeah majority of parents don’t raise us right, whether they raise us as if we’re non disabled, or they use our disabilities to make excuses for us “not knowing better” when they are the ones that are meant to teach us in ways we’re meant to understand.
Autism is a spectrum and you really don't know where this child lands. And aside from parenting and autism, would you slap any child for touching your car? Like for real, as a grown person, would you do that to somebody half your size and a fraction of your age?
I think it's embarrassing that a grown man would do that.
@@TheSamELopez I didn’t even watch the video, so I can’t comment specifically on what this guy did, but I ve worked with autistic kids , and often times, it’s those kids who are violent and throw the first punch, or get themselves in trouble some other way. Autism is not an excuse to act crazy, and as Kamala says, which I don’t agree, that it takes a community to raise the kids. Actually, it just takes the parents, but if the parents won’t do the job, then it falls on the community to do it. One way or another, an autistic child will be raised by the parents, by the community, or by the police.

The man should not have hit the kid make that clear. And if they know he likes touching things that don't belong to him they need to pay more attention to him and his hands. The kid did not break the hood ornament. It moves as part of the process of opening the hood along with a second tab that pops the hood open. He hit him because he thought he was laughing at him. He was on an ego trip. If he had controlled his anger, he would not be in this mess.
Prosecuted? an autistic child? Seriously? 🤦 Obviously, you don't have a relative or a child who has autism. @@charlotteyork7074 no ma'am, I just see what you didn't, that wasn't a slap, and it was warranted, not at the kid obviously, whoever is responsible for him, it's entrapment, and wouldn't I be surprised if it's been rehearsed, why record it?
Look up the man's business and realise the number of people after his position, you have to look past what is shown and look at the causality at the macro-economic scale.
See what I mean is, in the time it took to take out the phone, switch to the camera, in a tense situation, and point it it at this man, they could've explained his condition and that they would try their best to make it up to the them.
But you didn't, somehow recording the situation, posting it and reaping the benefits of eyes-wide-shut "Everyone is a victim" mentality having population, was the better alternative to your agenda.
Sure, anger is inherently cursed and the object of the case study here, yes keep your hands to yourself but all of that flies out the window when it appears the person you're dealing with is in fact mocking you, a kid no less, you would assume that kid wasn't beaten a day in his life NOT that he unbeknownst to you, suffers from a mental condition.
The guardian should have been there, situation would have been prevented.
It’s an understatement to say the child “touched” the car. The kid damaged the car. Is rewarding the kid the right message?
I do not want my property damaged either.
Before you guys whip out the pitch forks, the kid bent his hood ornament from what the report said on his Mercedes. And the kid was smiling and laughing while being confronted, so the Mercedes guy probably took that as another insult and did what he did. He probably didn't know he was autistic, not sure.
I am not defending either side, just being impartial.
This news channel just adds drama to nothing. She should have been watching her kid. But you can't hit kids either. Both need to be held accountable.
It's my understanding that hood ornaments have to be able to bend/flex to make it less likely to impale someone if hit. Some have springs, others move freely and stay in place until manipulated again. So likely no damage. I've been told, but nobody has been able to prove, that the kid did indeed damage the ornament. Hard to tell in the video.
Seeing a small child just sit there and laugh after doing something they weren't supposed to is bizarre, I would've assumed he's disabled, which he was. I would've confronted the older relatives instead (with words).
@thefox47545 I agree with you till the 2nd point comes around.
Lol you've never ran into a little rascal yet have you? There's a decent amount of kids that laugh when caught doing something they shouldn't lol.
In either case, parents need to step up instead of being bystanders for sure. That's something I think we here can all agree to.
@Ascension646 Maybe it's because I work with kids and I guess I just don't jump to conclusions when one of them does something bizarre. The majority of the time it's because they're disabled so I kind of have to give them the benefit of the doubt before I do something that could get me fired.
@@Ascension646 She wasnt even a parent ! she just a young sister of the child
Whats sad is that especially with male autistic teenagers they can become violent and dangerous around siblings and parents. The different kinds of meds pharma gives these kids cause all kind of side effects.
Why wasn't the boy watched and/or stopped from touching something that wasn't his? A gofundme for that? Come on.
I wondered myself why if he often has issues with behavior like that and his sister can’t stop him why weren’t any of the adults with? Why couldn’t one of the adults go get food?
Both sides are wrong. Family shouldve watch the kid so he doesnt break anything which he did on an expensive car that the owner has to pay out of pocket. Id be pissed too if someone was vandalizing my car but also wrong on the guy to slap the kid. Keep it civil.
Barely touched the kid... 🙄
@@TheEgg185 you have link too video of the kid touched
Well how about you watch your kid, you know he got problems with touching things , especially people's expensive cars .
As someone who has autism, that cellphone video was painful to watch for me. I may be higher on the spectrum than the boy, but that doesn't matter to me. Autism is autism, regardless of where you are on the spectrum. That man is a coward for slapping the boy for doing something he loves doing, not even realizing that it's just a part of who he is. And to the SoCal community, you all have big hearts. Not only are you standing up for the boy and his family, but you're doing everything you can to make sure this family has a better future. To all who are helping this family, you have my full support. I hope the man get justice, and the boy and his family get the resources they need to have a bright future ahead. If there's ANYTHING I can do to spread the word about this, please let me know. I want to make sure this boy and his family are safe and in a place where they can feel safe.
Kids get beaten and neglected everyday. This wasn’t that big a deal. People with special needs children are at their limits sometimes and we should be helping, not judging.
They weren't watching the kid period. Or they just don't care about other people's stuff. Probably both. Watch your kids folks. Simple as that.
Agreed
As an adult, I have no right to mess with a child, you talk to the parents, but slap a child, just no. A cowards thing.
Soooo its ok to break the hood ornament of someone elses car just because im autistic? Lets say he didnt slap the kid…now what? Im sure all those supporters will help right? We get the slap part but apparently no one cares about property or consequences. I mean they said he likes to touch things so you would think if you take him places you would pay attention…just sayin.
They weren't watching him plain and simple. Lol
why does literally nobody seem to know how car hood ornaments work? they've been making them the exact same way for at least five decades now. they attach with a heavy duty spring mechanism. they can be bent 360 degrees, never causing any damage. of you push them backwards specifically, they'lll lay down. The slightest pull forward or up, and they jump back to the default standing position. you can bend one backwards like this 50,000 times and not break it. this is like think you've "broken" a door by opening it. he bent it a way it is specifically engineered to bend harmlessly. and the car owner would have known this, even if you dont
Thats not the point…you cant go around doing whatever you want, especially going up to a car and messing with it physically…and of course dudes an idiot for slapping the kid. 2 wrongs dont make a right 😎 dont blame society because apparently this kid needs a leash, thats on the parents. Mayne best he stays home if this has been an issue? Anyhow we are all just living in a world others think is their own

Nah, doesn't matter if your kid is autistic, control your kids behavior. That man shouldn't have slapped the kid, but still, having an autistic child doesn't mean you're going to let them act out. The only abuse I see are two very irresponsible parents neglecting to keep their children housed. On top of that, this is Pacoima. People are outraged over this, but have no problem when their kids are out at 3am stealing cars.
I agree this is a action of neglect from the parents not my damn problem that you can't control ur child, I wonder why the damn parents are so figuratively blind at their neglectful actions and continues to play the role of victim
But since this is showing evidence of being too doubled edged both are in the wrong, 2 wrongs aint making a rational choice.
@@Chxmically My gut tells me they use the kid's disability to get sympathy and money. He's their little moneymaker.
It's clear you don't understand the difference between severe and high-functioning autism. With a severely autistic child, it's not as simple as "control your kid". Many of them have the mentality of a toddler and sometimes can get away from you in the blink of an eye to run towards something that has caught their attention. No parent is "letting them act out" and the best they can do is explain and apologize in a situation like this.
@@Chxmically I’m so sorry for the way your parents raised you. 😒
Nobody should hit a child, at the same time the child should not have damaged other people's property, and if he is mentally impaired then it is the responsibility of the accompanying person to ensure that he keeps his hands to himself.
So just because they’re poor and have an autistic son, that makes it okay to vandalize someone else’s car? The slap was wrong. But the parents need to be held accountable as well.
@@chestyvulva power flex irony?
it's not vandalism..... Mercedes hood ornaments, and literally every other car hood ornament i can think of, for the past fifty years at least, are attached with a spring mechanism. they can be rotated 360 degrees, or pushed to lie back flat, and a slight lift or pull will return them to the default standing position. that kid could have stood there bending it continuously for a year and not damaged it. and the owner knew this
Destruction of property happened first by damaging a hood ornament on a Mercedes.
These people are complaining about a slap then they should look at the price of a Mercedes before they let that boy near the car.
"Preserve your property "
The child was nowhere near the car anymore. Youre not entitled to track somebody down and harm them because of damage to your property.
This isnt defense of or preservation of his property. It's retaliation. Against someone's child. A grown man did this.

It was the slightest tap to let the kid know not to misbehave. This was very common when I was a kid, funny enough, there seems to be way less talk about mental issue in our generation than the young one.
Praise God! That sweet boy was smiling and reached out to that man when he slapped him. Just broke my heart!
More like laughing and pointing knowing that the man wouldn't do anything, till he got his face clapped. See how he pushes his mother away when shes trying to tend to him in the van? This kid knows right from wrong, he exhibits bad behavior and is coddled by parents who want the tax payers to foot the bill of a lawsuit then they'll go right back across the border.

If you don't teach your child manners at home, they'll be thought by the streets. The parent should have offered to pay for the damage first and foremost, instead of hiding behind the kid's condition. The slap was wrong, but not surprising.

The kid is severely autistic and seems to be non verbal too, so you cannot communicate with him. The real culprits are not the parents, it's the lack of social infrastructures. The boy needs a support system of teachers, classmates and therapists, who teach him about the dangers of the world and how to interact with people in public. And he does not have a save and constant place to live because autistic people need a pattern in their life. His family is literally homeless, I do not know if he goes to school and they do not even speak English. And one adult needs to watch him all the time because he could accidently kill himself if unwatched. It is literally impossble to improve their situation on these factors. I do wonder why child protection services did not take him away from his family and put him in a care center. However, I do not know how these centers look like in the US and if they treat the children well, because here in Germany they are quite good.
What does a GoFundMe have to do with that kid getting slapped honestly
So they can get their car fixed. Someone started it for them I guess because they felt sorry for them. I don’t think it’s right, taking advantage of a situation. Most of the money probably came from the ‘rapper’ who ‘sings’ about shooting people and abusing women.

This is nuts. The kids vandalized the guy’s car and got rewarded for it, and everyone is patting him on his back like a hero? Meanwhile the guy’s life is getting destroyed for something that barely counts as a slap? I thought he legit knocked the kid out, but he barely touched him. America is nuts. People are so out for blood. I don’t even blame the kids, since he’s mentally ill, but it’s his parents/caretakers’ job to supervise him 24/7 if he can’t be left alone. Society shouldn’t have to endure your devil spawn just because he has issues.
I have to agree! Disabled or not, letting your kid run around and vandalize other’s belongings is unacceptable. And no obviously he shouldn’t have touched the boy at all, you don’t hurt children, you settle the damages with his parents. Americans’ need to constantly start gofundme’s for anyone they feel sorry for is weird to me. That being said, living in a van is incredibly sad 😢
