    Despite being just over 40mm, I suspect this will wear larger than the 42mm Pro. The bezel diameter is about the same on the Pro, but this new version has longer lugs, is thicker and is heavier. Agree the price is pretty high for Omega nowadays!

    I got a Bulova Lunar Pilot to scratch my Speedmaster itch a couple of years ago. Since then, whenever I would see a Speedy in a video or photo I would kind of nod and not think much of it, mainly because if I ever, EVER, was able to spend close to $10k USD on a watch it would not be on a Speedy or a Chronograph. However, this new model speaks to me like no other Speedy previously has, mainly because I've worked in Aviation Maintenance for 35 years. Unlike a Bell&Ross, this has subtle design elements that remind one of cockpit instruments and the corresponding colors are fantastic. I wouldn't pay full retail for one, but who knows...I've got ten more years to retire, maybe after 45 years in aviation I'll look for one in the secondary market.

    I think Omega "Hit the Bullseye" when they came out with the White Dial Speedmaster with the red writing on it. This is the Creme de la Creme of Omega in my humble opinion. The one you previewed is different but doesn't appeal to me. I would be interested if TGV from the URBAN GENTRY u Tube site would ever do a review on it ? He has designed watches and is on a side note heavily in movies like you are Brittany. I had a laugh at your pinned comment about your hair , so i respun this and the only thing I sort of noticed was that your eyebrows seemed a little bit Groucho Marxy (bushy) .Here in Australia the girls/ladies all pluck their eyebrows to make their eyes appear bigger and I am not sure if they don't over so it sometimes. Having a baby is very very time consuming and trips to the beautician have to be put on hold. I did however notice that your teeth are outstandingly white and shiny and they look so nice. This is what happens when we are looking at watch details and every minute thing in the videos .....lololol we tend to look over closely at the reviewer I guess. All this is of course said in the utmost of fun of course.

    I've seen some nitpicking about the layout/colors, but I absolutely love it overall. I like that the civilian version has that bit of blue too. I also am going to go against dear Britt here and say that I love that it's automatic. I get why the Moonwatch is hand wound, but I don't think they all should be and have wished Omega used more of their automatic chronographs (outside of the large 44.25mm Speedmasters). The price hurts, but I also can't believe how high the Speedy '57s have gotten. The 100m of WR here also makes me wish more Speedies had that spec. Oddly, my friend's 44mm co-axial Moonwatch (3 sub-dial) has 100m WR from like a decade ago. The current 2 register models in that same size do not. What gives, Omega? Sorry, I've gone on a bit of a rant.

    Hi Britt.
    I like the way the picture of an airplane is transferred to the dial of the watch with this Omega. I would like to highlight, as you have done, the choice of color palette. My small contribution is to the bare space at six o'clock to place the date fly. It seems to me that this solution of providing a barren space in that position acts throughout the dial as a kind of space to root a memorable design composition.
    Thank you very much for your excellent work. Best regards,
    Òscar.

    I like everything about this watch except the lugs. I've always loved the lugs on Omega speedies and dive watches. The lugs on the pilot are flat on the top, it doesn't have the twist. I think that ruins the look.

    Thickness is a deal breaker for me. Omega should be putting more energy into producing a 12mm thick automatic watch and less energy into producing yet another variant of a tired and boring Speedy model.

    I’m a huge Omega fan, I’ve had a Speedmaster Professional for over a dozen years now, and I absolutely adore it. I also prefer a solid case back myself, for the record. But this one, well, it doesn’t grab me. I have plans to add another Omega to my collection at some point, but nothing has taken my eyes off the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial yet (I had the first generation but sold it because it just didn’t fit me as well as I wanted and I turned into a Heuer Monaco Cal 11, but the second gen seems to alleviate all my issues with the first) and this is no different. Like it, but it feels redundant with my Speedmaster proper.

    3:50 I get it from a traditionalist point of view, but personally I hate manual watches because I have too much ADHD to remember every day to rewind my watch. Nice watch, the dial might be a wee bit too busy and it would have been cooler to just call it the "Flightmaster" w/o the "Flight Qualified" line of text.

      I've always wanted to know - how do pilots use 30-minute chronographs? Or did. Were they just for pre-advanced-avionics military pilots?

    • @ericwoo8550
      @ericwoo8550 2 дні тому +1

      @@vaclav_fejtnot particular 30 min counters but rather minutes. Maybe 5, 10, 15 mins. Rarely get to 30 mins on any timing. We use timing for holding patterns, separation or give crew a schedule to keep up to for certain task. We also use timing as a reminder for certain things or to even slow the pace down and not rush for emergencies. But honestly, I’ve never used a wrist watch chronograph in the flight deck as there’s other timers in the flight deck to use and is more readily, easily accessible and noticeable.
      An example I can give is during times of turbulence with the seatbelt sign on. I use the timer once turbulence has stopped and after a certain elapsed time has been reached before turning off the seat belt sign. A nice reminder since the chronograph isn’t usually running for normal scenarios and your eye can catch it moving on the instruments.

    • @vaclav_fejt
      @vaclav_fejt 2 дні тому +1

      @@ericwoo8550 Thanks! That is very informative!
      I wrote 30 minutes, because that is shortest span historical pilot chronographs were able to time, so I took that as a cap. No wonder you don't need the full hour or more, when you rarely get to 30.

    • @mikejenkins6904
      @mikejenkins6904 2 дні тому

      @@vaclav_fejtI suspect it was designed that way for readability. A 60 min subdial would be more difficult to read individual mins on. Similarly, a 15min subdial would make it more difficult to read the hour subdial. When military aircraft had mechanical chronos, a centre minute hand, counting 60 min intervals was optimal.

    I have Speedmaster Racing (40mm model) and it's listed as 15.1mm thick. A lot of that thickness is from the case back protruding to house the automatic rotor. I find it sits plenty low on the wrist. The case back almost sinks into your wrist, allowing the sides of the case to be pretty flat. I'd say definitely try one of these pilots out and don't let the listed thickness be an automatic no go.

    I also find the price quite high… call me cheap, but I think those Omega should be around 5 grand.

    Prices have gone up at the same rate as zenith, jlc and Breitling and neither of those brands are as popular as Omega. I'd prefer the lower prices and deals* that used to be available. However, for Omega as a brand they need to continue moving up market so they can give us the technology and innovation like they have been in recent years. Also moving up market will help improve the value of vintage and neo vintage models as well.

    What’s with the monster-movie lighting? It washes out all the expressiveness in your face.

    This omega release has only one flaw…it’s friggin expensive 😂 9500 bucks is a ton for some folks 👀🤷‍♂️

      @ let’s see, maybe next year will be a better one and some grey market will sell some „cheaper“ 🤞

    Shorter 21mm lugs (I am assuming they are 20mm) would look so much better for multiple reasons.

    On pricing, omegas are arguably the most justified.
