BP. I queue for every new Speedmaster release. So I get there, the night before as the shop is closing. I haven't had a night in my own bed since 2007.
Despite being just over 40mm, I suspect this will wear larger than the 42mm Pro. The bezel diameter is about the same on the Pro, but this new version has longer lugs, is thicker and is heavier. Agree the price is pretty high for Omega nowadays!
I love this new release for the speedmaster. To me it's the most toolish speedmaster. Colors are great. Love that it's all brushed and that it has a better depth rating of 100m.
I got a Bulova Lunar Pilot to scratch my Speedmaster itch a couple of years ago. Since then, whenever I would see a Speedy in a video or photo I would kind of nod and not think much of it, mainly because if I ever, EVER, was able to spend close to $10k USD on a watch it would not be on a Speedy or a Chronograph. However, this new model speaks to me like no other Speedy previously has, mainly because I've worked in Aviation Maintenance for 35 years. Unlike a Bell&Ross, this has subtle design elements that remind one of cockpit instruments and the corresponding colors are fantastic. I wouldn't pay full retail for one, but who knows...I've got ten more years to retire, maybe after 45 years in aviation I'll look for one in the secondary market.
If this watch wasn’t a Speeemaster I would say that I like the colors and the overall look of the watch. What I don’t like is to see a Speedmaster looking like a Moonswatch and of course the stupid price.
Soo true its a watch I used admire but I've gotten completely sick of it to the point I can't even look at them anymore and the Omega fan boys are insufferable
I think Omega "Hit the Bullseye" when they came out with the White Dial Speedmaster with the red writing on it. This is the Creme de la Creme of Omega in my humble opinion. The one you previewed is different but doesn't appeal to me. I would be interested if TGV from the URBAN GENTRY u Tube site would ever do a review on it ? He has designed watches and is on a side note heavily in movies like you are Brittany. I had a laugh at your pinned comment about your hair , so i respun this and the only thing I sort of noticed was that your eyebrows seemed a little bit Groucho Marxy (bushy) .Here in Australia the girls/ladies all pluck their eyebrows to make their eyes appear bigger and I am not sure if they don't over so it sometimes. Having a baby is very very time consuming and trips to the beautician have to be put on hold. I did however notice that your teeth are outstandingly white and shiny and they look so nice. This is what happens when we are looking at watch details and every minute thing in the videos .....lololol we tend to look over closely at the reviewer I guess. All this is of course said in the utmost of fun of course.
I've seen some nitpicking about the layout/colors, but I absolutely love it overall. I like that the civilian version has that bit of blue too. I also am going to go against dear Britt here and say that I love that it's automatic. I get why the Moonwatch is hand wound, but I don't think they all should be and have wished Omega used more of their automatic chronographs (outside of the large 44.25mm Speedmasters). The price hurts, but I also can't believe how high the Speedy '57s have gotten. The 100m of WR here also makes me wish more Speedies had that spec. Oddly, my friend's 44mm co-axial Moonwatch (3 sub-dial) has 100m WR from like a decade ago. The current 2 register models in that same size do not. What gives, Omega? Sorry, I've gone on a bit of a rant.
1:41 “…big, bold colours…” and the meat and two veg at 12, once seen, never unseen. 😂 Seriously though, it really puts me off. Still there’ll be another Omega release later this week, so maybe that won’t have it. 😉
I love omega, This is A bit Funky but I like it. yea it a bit chunky Wonder how it will wear. Demensions other than thickness are Right in My wheel house.
Hi Britt. I like the way the picture of an airplane is transferred to the dial of the watch with this Omega. I would like to highlight, as you have done, the choice of color palette. My small contribution is to the bare space at six o'clock to place the date fly. It seems to me that this solution of providing a barren space in that position acts throughout the dial as a kind of space to root a memorable design composition. Thank you very much for your excellent work. Best regards, Òscar.
I like everything about this watch except the lugs. I've always loved the lugs on Omega speedies and dive watches. The lugs on the pilot are flat on the top, it doesn't have the twist. I think that ruins the look.
Thickness is a deal breaker for me. Omega should be putting more energy into producing a 12mm thick automatic watch and less energy into producing yet another variant of a tired and boring Speedy model.
It’s a nice watch and I like the dial. Need to see it on the wrist to know about sizing but it looks like it will be good. Is this the same bracelet from the FOIS? I haven’t seen the bracelet version in person yet, not sure about it’s on the fly adjustment. This is a nice watch, if I was buying a watch for my pilot friend, this would be a top contender.
I agree with basically everything you said, especially the pricing. And that kind of hurts to say, because i really love Omega! I feel like they to just price themselfs with Rolex, while the COULD be THE value proposition in the luxury market.
Britt, I dig the Little My (from the Moomin series) you are sporting :-) Another good episode. I agree on the thickness - the double barrel design is not looking very fresh these days as it yields these thick cases. And the price, this should be a 6500-7000 watch.
I’m a huge Omega fan, I’ve had a Speedmaster Professional for over a dozen years now, and I absolutely adore it. I also prefer a solid case back myself, for the record. But this one, well, it doesn’t grab me. I have plans to add another Omega to my collection at some point, but nothing has taken my eyes off the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial yet (I had the first generation but sold it because it just didn’t fit me as well as I wanted and I turned into a Heuer Monaco Cal 11, but the second gen seems to alleviate all my issues with the first) and this is no different. Like it, but it feels redundant with my Speedmaster proper.
3:50 I get it from a traditionalist point of view, but personally I hate manual watches because I have too much ADHD to remember every day to rewind my watch. I really have bad memory, so I prefer an automatic that will rewind itself. That’s one of the reason I wouldn’t get a standard moonwatch, even thought it’s one of my favorite watch design…
Zikes! All a bit ‘love or loathe it’ eh? Personally, I love it. ‘Bout time Omega did some cool tool watches. Love the colours, the size, the auto, the WR, the closed caseback… Not a fan of the price, but err… Swiss watches?
Nice watch, the dial might be a wee bit too busy and it would have been cooler to just call it the "Flightmaster" w/o the "Flight Qualified" line of text. The size is brilliant, and the lume blocks look cool too, although Omega should pay royalties to Vertex, which started the whole "stadium lume" trend. As should CW Ward, Fortis and, and, and....
I am happy with the Moonwatch I bought - and learned flying a Paraglider-now I have unforgettable experiences over years as a Pilot - with the costs of this watch 👍😉
This one seems to divide opinion. I have the Speedmaster and when I look at this I do like it. I don't like to be disappointed twice so when I look at this a second time, I see this dial appearing on a plastic Swatchmega sooner rather than later. It's almost as if it's been designed for a Swatch, so, it's not something I'm willing to take a chance on. A $9,500 metal version of a Swatch.
Yes gringaaaaaa all good points and yesssss omegas are to expensive !! I wonder if I might get tired of this variant 🤷🏻♂️ fois is amazing and the white face rocks !!I don't think this new one is as nice as the flight masters Good one gringaaaaaaa 🥰
I love Omega but enough already. It is all speedy and seamaster all the time. Omega has an amazing lineage from which to pull. How about a modern flight master or a modern release of the omega dirty dozen?
I think this is my favorite Speedmaster to this day. I love the colors and the designs. I'm not a fan of the textured dial. I would've preferred it if it had a smooth mat black dial. I could see myself wearing this as my GADA watch, but unfortunately it's way too expensive for me.
I am a professional pilot… nah GMT Master 2 Pepsi is hard to beat. I would be looking for a World Timer that you can actually read or GMT. Don’t need a Tachometer on the outer scale. It’s is way too thick and pricey.
I agree. I’m a widebody international pilot and nothing beats the GMT Master 2. I use the Pepsi daily too. This Speedmaster looks like a joke to me. The AH means nothing on this watch has absolutely zero meaning.

Love the watch and styling. Would I drop nearly 9k GBP though? Id imagine for some its perfect. Id rather have an Airking for that money personally. An unpopular opinion I accept.
I have Speedmaster Racing (40mm model) and it's listed as 15.1mm thick. A lot of that thickness is from the case back protruding to house the automatic rotor. I find it sits plenty low on the wrist. The case back almost sinks into your wrist, allowing the sides of the case to be pretty flat. I'd say definitely try one of these pilots out and don't let the listed thickness be an automatic no go.
The 57 is a much better looking watch. The Pilot's much the same watch but it looks messy in comparison with so many bold colours on display. I'm not knocking it cos there'll be plenty of people who will adore it but i'm not one of them.

Prices have gone up at the same rate as zenith, jlc and Breitling and neither of those brands are as popular as Omega. I'd prefer the lower prices and deals* that used to be available. However, for Omega as a brand they need to continue moving up market so they can give us the technology and innovation like they have been in recent years.
