Just in case you don't know - Reaper already (for half of year I guess) has an delta-funsion that show you only what plugin add or remove from sound, so you can (kind of) solo the FX. Just hold the Alt and press mix knob in up/right corner.
Noise and snare drums go hand in hand. Noise can an effective way of snare drum synthesis, as used by certain classic drum computers but also by 8 bit video game sound chips. The noise generator on them is often used for creating rhythm elements. I think I once saw a sound design tip (that may have been dr. Mix, I can’t exactly remember) where some white noise was added to a recording of a snare drum to add a bit of extra flavour to the sound. A lot of minimalistic electro music like Kraftwerk use noise generators to simulate snare drums.
I felt pretty happy after hearing that insanely clean sub energy the plugin generated. I first heard of Klevgrwnd on iOS. They’ve always had some interesting designs. I still use the Pipa plugin every now and again for sound design. It’s just synthesized vocal selections. But it’s has a unique sound.
The scientific nerd-bro way to explain this plugin, is that it is a subharmonic generator combined with a high frequency exciter that actually uses added noise instead of wave clipping the higher frequencies. There are provisions to adjust the shape [envelope] of the trigger so you can fade in and increase the tail. The added noise can extend the sound such that it feels like early reflections from a reverb. K that's my story k bye.
I own both and I agree but Fosfat is a bit easier to setup, and I’m not sure it doesn’t have something under the hood because it does sound sweet. At the least it’s thought out and tailored really well for drums.
Back to our unfinished discussion...a think with this title you found the holy grail...no...better analogy, in this case, is: You squared the circle. Made me smile so much! (!)
Love Klevgrand!! 💙......they make some of the most unique and useful plugins out there! 😉👍 I got this last week and I'm still trying to get a handle on it. Kind of a new take on an old technique.
if you have a daw with an envelope follower modulator (like bitwig), you can easily buid this with any synth (lets say phase plant would be great but really almost any). this video was great nonetheless, as it gave me a new idea of how to add energy to drum loops. update1: i have to amend my comment right away: its not easy LOL. First off you have to use a second lane, secondly you will need to also have midi triggers (have to think about this some more, if this is avoidable), then you have to figure out the proper envelope follower settings, oscillator shapes, levels, ar sweet spots and same for noise. Its a nice excercize tho and I think once you got down what works itll be alot more flexible (just save your own sweetener as a preset device chain). update2 (lol): okay it is very easy to build this but i needed to use bitwigs fx grid. it will be some work figuring out layering what exactly will work. so i give a tentative thumbs up to fosfat for saving time. if you have a sth. like bitwigs grid, id definitely say its worth experimenting with enveloper follower based sound layering on drum loops yourself tho 👍. update 3: okay im done replicating fosfat. it sounds imho almost exactly the same with my grid device. took me about 40 minutes to build. i also added free parallel saturation as it fits the same purpose anyway and can be turned off. i literally replicated everything with more flexiblity, just omitting the chance. Basically looks like this if anyone wants to save some time: imgur.com/a/SfItQ76. All those mixer devices can be replace by amplitude devices and there are probably other improvements to be made, i havent really used the grid before. (the envelopes trigger the first mixers volume, the second mixer is to set the overall level for noise/sine independantly).
I feel like you should sometimes look through the presets to get some ideas of what the plugin can do. It's not always necessary, but sometimes I feel it can help explaining what the settings do and how they correlate to each other.
If you're using Ableton, the "Wide Noise" setting on the Erosion effect does something similar to what the added noise of this plugin sounded like. Can give you that airy fizzle up top, really nice.
I would use this for sure. The oscillator reminds me of Lowender but with more control and the noise section sort of sounds like Neutron's exciter where you can control the tone of the "noise" the exciter adds.
my guess is its using FFT and then use the the spectral sheet of the analyzed music sample each frame to add noise to "fill" whats missing, and then uses a time-domain transient shaper/compression algoritm to shape the filtered noise.
Great video brother this plugin reminds me of a more customizable version of that MAAT plugin you reviewed not too long ago that adds subtle noise behind your sound
Don't have ableton or reaper, will def buy it tomorrow. Hope price doesn't go up... Really like how it impacted sound in general from your demo, added such interesting textures to it.
Limitations FTW. Whether thats the DAW, the Plug in, your Music skill set..... ect... Theres no magic music maker, but for so many, they believe there is... and forever may you keep searching for your answer. I wish you all the best. Happiness to all audio/engineering/music/composer brethren
Fosfat looks like a really cool plugin. Really. I almost want to buy it, actulally. But i already have a sick tool for this kind of job: "Texture" from Devious Machines. It's a must imo. (very cheap for such a beast imo) It offers so much amazing features and options. The VST also have his own sound bank of textures/noizes/ambiances/whatever built in, and you can even use your own wav files. And much more. It's a neat one 👌
2004 ~ "vintage" ??? LOL But when I think about it: When I was 20, the 60's where so damned vintage, as the 90's are for the 20 year old today... strange how realtiv this whole concept of "time" is...
I would like to think that Klevgrand started up when some Softube employees got into an argument about whose turn it was to provide fika that day. ;) I have a lot of their plugins and I really like the GUIs. The kids in school like them too as they're intuitive and colourful.
Actually this video made me tinker with shaperbox some more... Now I need to upload some custom low frequency noises just to test how does it stand against this plug. Wish cableguys would add pitch option for noiseshaper...
I love these folks products, but I think I can do most of this with Ableton Vocoder - which is insanely powerful for atypical vocoder tasks - like added sparkle to hats and percs, introducing textures into source material etc. Don't want to take away from this product, and definitely not snake oil but I passed on this one. If you don't own Albeton then it's a solid buy.
Was hearing my snake oil alarms at the start but in the end it was a simple good tool for the box… producing and mixing. Will add this to the list now, thank you

I know it, but I forget about it every single time 😂
Great feature to hear compression and distortion effects on a track
WHATTTTT
thank you for this ❤
I never read the change logs lmao
whaaat?
Okey, that's incredible!
Thanks!

i hate that i understand that. now i feel like a nerd.
That reverb noise trick is something i do a lot with vocoders. The stock vocoder from ableton for example
You guys should try Cableguys Shaperbox 2, especially the Noise module.
It's phenomenal imho and does pretty much what was shown here in this video.
I own both and I agree but Fosfat is a bit easier to setup, and I’m not sure it doesn’t have something under the hood because it does sound sweet. At the least it’s thought out and tailored really well for drums.
Fantastic video…the best part of the video is when i saw your amazing green and pink nails, i love it 😍
Been enjoying this plug too - incredibly useful tool! Love the nails too!
lol
Might have to get this. I love Ting by this company too……very unique and innovative drum sounds
This is super cool. Can think of so many uses for this in all my productions. Great video - grabbing it now
I always buy their plugins as soon as they announce a new one, very nice plugins and always with intro sales.
Back to our unfinished discussion...a think with this title you found the holy grail...no...better analogy, in this case, is: You squared the circle. Made me smile so much! (!)
Gongratz with your new gear. Always nice to have a new unit to use😁

I love the interface-design. The Beat is taken from the track "Rude Winds" by the artist called "Sandy Pants".

Amazing video as always,... but can help wondering how amazing is would have sounded on Sandstorm 🤔
Anyone got comparison to cableguys noiseshaper?
That sounded really good! Would've liked to hear what it does to some different sources though
what's the color scheme of the day? I would have thought county Mayo but the green would be darker...
the noise thing could be great on hihats to create an aditional rythmic layer
That track is awesome: I can’t get enough of Sandstorm!
3:36: Now we are talking punch! But thats the recording, right?
Imagine how much they could have sold if it was still on sale....hope I remember to check back...
Drum track from *Wishing Well* by Terrence Trent Darby??
Nice find, bought it. Awesome plugin!

Yeah its a good one

the drums are from Darude - Sandstorm (disco mix)

there actually is magix music maker, it's awful but it exists
@@yesthisisdonut Band in a Box . ;)
Fosfat looks like a really cool plugin. Really. I almost want to buy it, actulally. But i already have a sick tool for this kind of job:
"Texture" from Devious Machines. It's a must imo. (very cheap for such a beast imo)

Love Texture! Makes it very crisp!
That pitch drop is exacly what I need, any similar free plugin out there?
2004 ~ "vintage" ??? LOL But when I think about it: When I was 20, the 60's where so damned vintage, as the 90's are for the 20 year old today... strange how realtiv this whole concept of "time" is...
Yeah! You could try to use Fosfat with the Waves Vitamin, to see if it's necessary. 😉
Isn't this The Decider by Lasse Lyx?
cableguys shaperbox 2 can do the same but you can import your own samples and you can choose from a big library already :)
Their plugs are fantastic.
Klevgrand makes 🔥🔥🔥🔥 plugins
I think a solo would ruin the psychoacoustic effect which probably only applies in context.
looks really cool! i like
Could you please review leapwing plugins? they are totally snake oil!
sandstorm (samba mix) - it's the only mix with cowbell isn't it?
Drums are 'Play that funky music (B side of Sandstorm by Der Rude)
Zou het van branden zand van Anneke Grönloh kunnen zijn, gave plugin. Ga zeker kijken!
Very cool!👍I wonder what magic sounds George could make with this ;)
It’s the drums from the song Grusblåst by The Rudes.
The song is sandstorm by daroot
Check Voxengo Shumovick - it is the wildest noise effect - it doesn't just throw white noise but it shapes it
I would like to think that Klevgrand started up when some Softube employees got into an argument about whose turn it was to provide fika that day. ;)
I have a lot of their plugins and I really like the GUIs.
The kids in school like them too as they're intuitive and colourful.
They are always having great names for their plugins. Phosphates as nutrients for the nutrient deficient mix. 😉
Good plugins like these are the kinds you just put it on when you need flavour and live it there, delicious 😋🤤.
Drums taken from "Pass The Dutchie" by Musical Youth......i think...🤔
Voxengo Shumovick is very good for doing the noise thing
I do this with noiseshaper from cableguys. It doesn’t have an oscillator but you can add a sine wave sample and get the same results
Actually this video made me tinker with shaperbox some more... Now I need to upload some custom low frequency noises just to test how does it stand against this plug. Wish cableguys would add pitch option for noiseshaper...
Like the nails 💪💪💪💪
Heh. The price is back up to $40 clams. It's on my radar I guess!
The drum is from the track Darude - Sandstorm
Actually love this thing
Sandstorm never felt so good.
The concept is nice, but the pluggin is not well disigned
OK.....UPDATE. I get why you colored you fingernails. Cool Idea. Your fingers are color-coded to Ableton. I might try it with my keyboard too.
Heads up: Klevgrand has a 29 h slash sale atm. All plugins 29 usd.
its similar to Soundradix's Drum leveler but cheaper and better
Cool concept but nothing you can't do with reaper native's plugins. Slap by Yum Audio and Mr. Bill looks way more advanced.
Sometimes workflow, hell, even writing music, isnt about just plugins.
Erosion too
So much for the tchk, but whatabout the ptzboom?
its the drums from darude by sandstorm
was going to say Sandstorm by Darude...
Wow that company has quite of few great plugins
me likes a good umpf! makes my sandstorm really happy! darude too!
devious machines -Texture more intuitive GUI as well
I love noise on my snares.
Drum track from the movie 127 hours.
That cowbell is driving me mental lol
I actually wanted more cowbell…
@@Whiteseastudio I only want more of…you.
I'm old if 2004 is vintage! Lol
😢 2004 is considered vintage. 2004 was yesterday 🥺
it's literally just adding layers of processed white noise to peaks in an audio source
I like how they double down on their strange Swedish naming convention.
_"while you're down below let me know what you think of this plugin"_
: o
Was hearing my snake oil alarms at the start but in the end it was a simple good tool for the box… producing and mixing.
Will add this to the list now, thank you
Drum track from Darude - "sandstorm"
Darude - Sandstorm. Obviously! 🧐
Sandstorm is my *favorite* Darude song!
My G what's up with your nails?
Aren't they cool? ❤
yes the waves vitamin has good nutrition !lol
Sounds a bit like "Dirt-icane" by... DahROOD?
I know the drums are from sandstorm obviously but... "everybody knows what a transient designer is". Do we? I have honestly no idea.
Freedom??
Obviously this time you get paid! Remember, youtube obliges you to said that is promotional conent in your videos!
cool
The drum track sounds very much like George Michael - Too Funky :)
Lol I Use Waves Vitamin all the time to fix my Deficiencies! lol, for reals!
George Michael "Too Funky" ;)
DaDude - Manstorm
🤣
But I thought adding too much bass makes things booooooooomy
ALL PLUGINS 😛
