She had it all! She was American born from South Texas who grew up listening to Doo-Wop and Oldies, R&B, and Disco. Music that was considered Black in America. Her appreciation for Blackness transitioned into her Spanish music which is why she had a lot of soul. Indeed it’s very rare to find someone who was this versatile in their singing.

It makes my heart happy to see that despite the fact that she had a very short time on this earth, her talent was recognized & she was able to accomplish so much, and cement such a place in the hearts of millions of people.
