- Hero Designer Kyle Dates and Live Game Designer Adam Jackson sit down with Tim “Trikslyr” Frazier and Josh “Jhow” Howard to show off the first gameplay of Deathwing, the newest Hero in the Nexus. Watch this First Look video to catch details about the Worldbreaker!

List of Deathwing bullet points:
- Deathwing is *PERMANENTLY unstoppable*.
- Deathwing is always a dragon (no human form)

- His model is bigger than Alexstrasza's dragon form (but his body-blocking size is the same as Azmodan's)
.
- He does 100% bonus damage to enemy heroes
.
- Deathwing is **completely unaffected by allies**. An ally cannot heal him, can't shield him, can't buff him, can't Abathur symbiote/clone him.
- Deathwing gains armor from his adamantium plates, which give him 40 armor. For every 25% health he loses, he loses one plate (10 armor).
- Instead of having a mount, he can fly into the air/off of the map, and regens health, also restoring armor plates that he has lost (globes/wells heal him, but don't restore armor plates). Flying into the air has a ~1 second cast time and a 45 second cooldown.
- Deathwing can drop fire down on enemies when he lands from his Z-flight. He cannot use abilities for 3 seconds after landing (this restriction can be removed with a level 7 or 20 talent).
- He has two dragon forms that change some of his abilities.
- He starts with access to his ult ("Cataclysm") at level 1 (like Tracer), which has him fly in a line breathing fire down on the ground.
- He's a bruiser, has the health of a main-tank, but his CC isn't as reliable as a real tank.
They said he'll be playable at Blizzcon and will be released in the first major patch after Blizzcon.

It feels weak.
He cannot be healed by his allies or receive buffs from allies.
But he can be debuffed by his enemies or opponents.
But he can heal himself by flying, but can become interrupt ...
Even though it is unstoppable.
But also has a long cooldown.
Second source for healing is healing fountain and healing globes.
Seriously Deathwing can’t be healed by an ally?? That sucks man..
Now that Heroes of the Storm isn't pushing the E-Sports scene anymore, I hope we get more crazy hero-designs like this.
We need HOTS as a Blizzard Super Smash Bros Party-Mode game. Give us more crazy fun designs, and hail to the Aspect of Death!
It does though, they also push it. It's just grass roots.
I don't consider this to be that crazy. Deathwing's whole M.O. was destroying the environment around him, and despite this game having walls and towers and keeps, he doesn't interact with them any differently than anyone else. This shows me that they're not going to think outside the box.
This shows every bit as much restraint as I would expect from a balance-focused competitive MOBA.

@@kotlolish I feel like Deathwing was their best chance to make a statement about how far they're willing to push the game. They literally could have taken Deathwing as far as they wanted and made it work, I don't see anyone crazier than Deathwing coming along any time soon.

@@Skoshtwo It's more like... they already DID put a dragon into the game (Alexzstraza) but she's in humanoid form in most cases, because why would you have a massive full-size dragon in a team game?
But with Deathwing you DO have a giant dragon who's several times the size of anyone else, and they committed to making THAT work and balancing around making him feel as awesome as he's supposed to be while still being fair to the rest of the team. Time will tell if they succeeded but they could easily have phoned it in and done something similar with the last dragon - just put him in "human" mode until he uses his trait or ults - and they chose not to because it would be cooler, if harder.

@@samerhasan4112 Sadly you're right, he seems fun to play (like Cho'Gall), but at the very end, unlike Cho'Gall, Death wing is way far more predictable and that will be his down.

Diablo's breath can track you though; harder to avoid. Deathwing's breath has more uptime, but you can see it's mostly for wave clear and zoning.

Ridley never had an excuse. The game is all about scaling. I mean if we got actual sizes involved, Olimar is just under 2 cm, Pikachu is only 40 cm tall, or lets take pichu who is smaller than olimar in game but still over 15x his size canonically.

@@ThunderingRoar he was the aspect of wisdom but after his mentality about Mortals got twisted he became the aspect of death just like Imperious (He turned into aspect of Wrath from Valor)
Well considering Malthael's damage, both basic and ulti, is based on the enemy hp, i think he is the perfect match for DW.

Jackle it could have popped off and gotten to the same level as Dota and League with enough dedication, but ended up falling short. Still the most fun MOBA in my opinion, so I’ll keep playing it.
yo :D its a dead game. activision blizzard killed it when they pulled the esport money plug out. since then the game is a ghost town. only russian players left who basicly are trolls.

For a game that had its developers pulled to work on other projects, they still output updates regularly. Kudos to the dev team that supports this game through thick and thin!
I thought "no way they can make Deathwing. Such a huge force of nature just doesn't fit into a balanced MOBA like this." Seems I was wrong :D

@@victorokonkwo2041 kaelthas, illidan, varian, azmodan, chromie, genji to name a very few. At least in games like lol or dota, if someone is OP cuz he is fed, he is fed cuz of the stupidity of the enemy team, not cuz of his build.
Night Hunter no way is illidan busted, same thing with KT. They are pretty good in Plat and above, but they are really just noob killers.
37:56 I paused here because I wanted to emphasize this. The art team KILLED IT on Deathwing. Not only do we all keep watching him no matter what else is happening, his movements are so flawless that there is nothing to disappoint--all the more impressive when he gets this much constant scrutiny!
Between Abathur, Cho'gall, and now Deathwing, HotS has the most unique heroes in any moba. I love it.

@intempify Arthas' model isn't as detailed or intricate as many of the other heroes. Unfortunately, he likely won't get a proper update for a very long time because the work that would be required to update him roughly equates to the creation of 2-3 new heroes (or reworks). Or something to that effect.

Before, people would meme about how Zagara, Gazlowe, Murky players played the game to be away from the team and just play a single player game, but legit Deathwing is like playing a Single Player game with that passive.

I'm of the mind that they did this announcement because they wont be putting HoTS on the mainstage due to not having enough time. Being wrong will make me so happy.
Yeah, was wondering the same thing myself, if they pre-released Deathwing just like that = what's there more for Blizzcon ?, I also love recent balance patches (with the exception of the very last one) = so kinda hyped cause these guys seem enthusiastic enough to keep going on :)
Probably won't. They did this last year - did some awesome announcements right before blizzcon and had nothing for it at all.
@@Fenlen There are a lot of big games coming this year, so they are most likely pressed for time and cant fit it in. So they just announce it before hand.

I have an idea for a cool hero - Arcturus Mengsk.
Since he's the emperor he doesn't go to the battlefield himself, instead he stays in his command center sending out SCVs to collect resources (i'm thinking minerals from dead minions like probius and gas randomly spawned in ´jungle or from regen orbs). He then can spend these resources to create units with talents allowing him acces to other units (having only unupgraded marines at the start of the game) or giving his units upgrades.
This is in my opinion the best way to get the feeling of RTS in a moba game while not being too punishing when his units die (like vikings) but his SCVs offering lots of counterplay with resource denial.
How are you not going to have MFPallytime involed in the Deathwing reveal?

They've done so for the quite some time. They tend to announce the stream on their twitter, so that's a good place to keep updated. But watching the youtube video is fine too!

But I think Deathwing doesn't look so strong at gameplays. Every his skill is easy to avoid. He will lose most fights 1vs1, mostly vs Thrall, Murky, Mephisto, Tychus, Raynor, Varian, Tracer... I can't wait to play as him, but he won't be op for sure

It would be nice that when alex does her flying ult while Dw is flying, you can see them fighting up there (rather than seeing alex just fly back and forth) however this doesn't damage any of em.

The punisher/objective mobs/bosses should still be able to stun/root/whatever Deathwing. They're huge monsters like him, it makes sense theming wise and makes him less OP for the objectives. Also, his health bar is awesome, but it's kinda big. Maybe a little smaller?

Well he is a bruiser and not an assassin so his damage wouldnt be as great vs if was an assassin
@@abimaelreyes7134 but is a really hard to land spell and is the only real source of dmg they said, and from the vid it doesn't even do 25% of an asasin hp

Deathing is the reason I'll give this game another shot so you better keep him top of the list.
I like the reduced flying z time as it's the only way he heals, however... I think the longer he waits to use his z, the further he's able to fly with it, meaning waiting a full 70secs or comparaeble time to bw, dehaka and falstad, he has an expanding radius he's able to fly to
I was really hoping he was going to land on keeps, or at least change the visuals of the environment. "Cataclysm" literally just burns the ground for a few seconds...
I actually like it as is, the only thing I'd say is a bit of lack is the distance.. IF he could fly like 25% further and stop manually = THAT would be perfect IMO :)
I was hoping his ult would be a mix of Rag's Lava Wave with Thrall's Sundering or something. But yeah, a blanket of fire is rather disappointing.
Landing on buildings could have looked amazing!
But I mean, he mirrors the exact same move he used during the Cataclysm pre-expansion event. It is a very good callback to that event.
Not to mention having new art textures for every single map just when this singular hero uses his ultimate ability is entirely too much from a technical standpoint-- especially seeing as they've already had to essentially break the game to get him added to the Nexus in the first place. The technical challenge Deathwing imposed is even more nuts than the challenge it took to implement Hanzo's Scatter Arrow.
