Just went paintballing for the second time for my schools senior skip day (first time when i was 11/12), happened to be at Orbital this time. Great field, had a great experience. Definitely going to go again.
I live near Hobart Indiana, they have Blast Camp, an abandoned military station. Pretty sweet. I always wanted to goto Badlands, but its always booked.
Thanks for the info. Most places advertising woodsball actually are a blend of speedball and hyperball. I prefer the true woodsball. I do carry a first aid kit in my gear as well as a snake bite kit. Worst injuries I have seen have only been sprains and cuts.
I go to badlandz all the time! Its in Crete not Chicago but anyways they have an awesome hyperball field called snake! If you have never done it, its amazing. The little grooves in the pipes are just big enough to get your barrel into and shoot without being seen.
Wow great video mike, this is one of the best explinatoins that i have ever seen, very very good man, i have bin playing for 6 years and i also learned some cool little facts!! Tkx mike keep the videos up!
Never knew their was a difference between the latter three, thanks mike. I saw a dude try jumping a sideways can one time. He made it but he ended up tripping and plowing into an Aztec. Funny shit.
In my opinion: Air Ball - "Air" bunkers, Sport / Tournament style Hyper Ball - Pretty much Speed Ball / Cheap field for B-day parties and beginners. Woods Ball - For Scenario players. (Battle scenarios, combat simulation)
Hey love the vids bro. Mike where can i get my jerseys made for my team? i have no where around here i can get it done. Is there a website or anything i can go to?
@PaintballGateway It's crazy to have all the different fields in one place, but it just so happens that Orbital Paintball has it. Damn I've been playing this sport too long LOL
@NRPBproductions piranha GTI with the rampage board is around 60 dollars and it blows any spyder away. also the tippmann gryphon as about the same price, but it shoots slower (which i prefer), and its amazingly accurate and reliable. I'd suggest one of those two.
whilst walkin across the old cousins platkill paintball field yesterday at the airsoft op i was at we walked across a hyperball field, was really cool lookin
woods ball in my opinion is the best because the games are longer, you have many more options in positions you want to play (sniper, rusher ect) woodsball markers also look sick plus I find scenario games to be really creative and cool.
@JamesGB81 i like hyperball with alot of cover so i can get up to the 50 and blow the crap out of the other team... and theres usually some great places for laning... but i love woodsball
what also helped airball take off was the fact that most paint bounced of the bunkers and didnt spray the guy looking out from behind its goggles with paint
2 things; Is Xball just airball but with a huge inflatable X in the middle or is there more to it? and is Scenario baisicly woodsball with buildings and a kinda story to it or more than that? Just wondering because I'd say I like Scenario but then I realise that i don't really know the differences. lol.
@THESoloBeast XBall is a style of tournament play where victory is determined by different objectives that a team does. For example, flag pulls, flag hangs and eliminations count as points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Hope I helped! (:
I find they way I play is kinda mixed between speedball and woodsball: I like to rush the other team as fast as I canto close into range, but when I get to a good vantage point I hunker down and just light then up from a secure bunker. I tend to take a lot of people by surprise that way.
one of the places i play at is arkenstone paintball in ga and they have a map where its this realy deep empty creek bed that winds and it has cover in it and you cant leave the creek bed and its absalute mayhem
Xball is a field layout for air ball. basically it's got that giant X bunker in the middle. it forces the teams to play more toward the flanks in the middle, cause that X really has no tactical value. that field layout is basically the same in all fields. snake bunker on one side, X in the middle, "dorito" bunkers on the other side.
I got to camp penalton paintball. I dont know how to classify it it is a mixture of woodsball and hyperball and some speedball. What would that be classified as.
@phipps121 well its not the new layout, im not saying that the new layout is awesome but it's not the layout's fault. It's either your internet speed, your web browser, and how fast your Ethernet card is, not mentioning you computer speed too. For me this vid loaded up in about 2-4 minutes...I have a i5 processor, 1/100/1000 Ethernet card, a 50MB/s connection, and Google Chrome...
you can have paintball clubs in high school and things and teams for paintball you just would play and practice at your local paintball field. Its also up to your administration at your school and your school board if they pass the paintball club.
"Speedball" is a general term for smaller non-woodsball fields that include hard bunkers and/or inflatable bunkers. It includes both hard bunkers (wooden pallets, or Hyperball corrugated bunkers) and inflatable bunkers (airball/Xball style bunkers). What you're describing is airball, which is a subset of speedball. Airball encompasses anything with inflatable bunkers, including Xball. Speedball = most small fields that aren't wooded, including hyperball AND airball.
@xlildeebomb13x speedball is mopre solid objects like a plank of wood for bunkers. air ball uses air filled balloon like objects for cover. hence Airball. but the difference is small so if u call airball speedball or vice versa, no one will yell at you..
Sorry but is there any other way of payment on markerbids. I cannot pay with credit card. Is there any way that I can transfer the money over to a bank account.
I would say it could get more complicated, like with upper levels, but the whole evolution was to simplify and diversify the fields. They should make bunkers that automatically move themselves so during the game the field is constantly shifting.
@comedyofficial No we just didn't make it to Sunday, so since we suck.... we went to badlands to burn off the Gino's East we huff'd down the night before hahahha
Vincent Attardi Well to me a speedball gun is a more low profiled gun that has a great amount of efficiency. At least that's what I look for in a marker.
+Vincent Attardi If you are looking to get into the sport, go to a local store and ask to hold and maybe shoot some different guns. Also if you have a local field, go out and play, a lot of fields now are letting people rent higher end markers. with that all done I would also consider getting a used gun, you can always find good used deals on ebay/craigslist/ect. and they can sometimes be really cheap.
Spend the extra $100 dollars more than the mini and get the Empire Axe. It's a great gun and i love mine.... I broke my first ball in that gun after playing about 15 days of paintball starting about 11AM not stopping till 8PM.... also the axe has way more upgrades than the mini and can use way more barrels where the mini can only use stock and CP pretty much... the Axe costs about $425-$750.... the $750 already have great upgrades most the time (different colors [rarity] can make them cost more)
up here in canda (Saskatchewan specifically) we use speedball as the general term for really all things that aren't woodsball (airball, hyperball, and x-ball). We all just consider that speedball, irrelevant of the different rules of the games
Thank you sir! I just started playing and have I have learned so much from you. Thank you so much!
Personally I find that woodsball is the best. I especially like the longer games, diverse courses and the strategy aspect of the game.
I love hyperball, makes me feel like im in a classic paintball video.
Thanks.. being only a woodsball player that started in th 80s this was a good catch up for getting back into the game.
Just went paintballing for the second time for my schools senior skip day (first time when i was 11/12), happened to be at Orbital this time. Great field, had a great experience. Definitely going to go again.
I just got into paintball recently and I'm moving back down to St Pete! I can't wait to hit this course.
very good lesson. didn't know the history of paintball . so i really enjoyed this vid thanks mike always a pleasure watching your vids.
I live near Hobart Indiana, they have Blast Camp, an abandoned military station. Pretty sweet. I always wanted to goto Badlands, but its always booked.
haha i here a KP we have 4 now in our paintball group great history lesson Mike keep up the great work.
@dillo
sweet! Good to know!!
Thanks for the info. Most places advertising woodsball actually are a blend of speedball and hyperball. I prefer the true woodsball. I do carry a first aid kit in my gear as well as a snake bite kit. Worst injuries I have seen have only been sprains and cuts.

Great explanation!!!! Thanks, it cleared out a lot of questions....!
Funny shit.
Crazy to look back and see all the different changes in game play huh?
I just played my second game at Splatterpark in ohio, truly of of the best paintball fields I've ever played in, definitely going back out
In my opinion:
Air Ball - "Air" bunkers, Sport / Tournament style
Hyper Ball - Pretty much Speed Ball / Cheap field for B-day parties and beginners.
Woods Ball - For Scenario players. (Battle scenarios, combat simulation)
thats why i like woodsball
Going to play my first game of woodsball ever Sunday! I've played tons of indoor speedball so I have a bit of experience, I'm sooo excited!
I have played speedball, hyperball, and a little bit of woodsball. Speedball is my favorite so far but I still have to try airball!
Thanks for the clarification, Mike! Wasn't a hundred % sure!
Hey love the vids bro. Mike where can i get my jerseys made for my team? i have no where around here i can get it done. Is there a website or anything i can go to?
@PaintballGateway

Love your vids dude!
any tips for a new player (woodsball)
whilst walkin across the old cousins platkill paintball field yesterday at the airsoft op i was at we walked across a hyperball field, was really cool lookin
thank u this video was very clear and ive been trying to get into paintball
and this just makes it that much easier
The only thing your gonna regret about paintball is not getting in it sooner.
Great video!! Very informative for me!!
i play woodsball in west central montana. played once in a sppedball court. nothin beats the mountains
woods ball in my opinion is the best because the games are longer, you have many more options in positions you want to play (sniper, rusher ect) woodsball markers also look sick plus I find scenario games to be really creative and cool.
Have you ever been to SC Village if so what did you think?
Hey mike, what are the goggles you are wearing?
can you actually use them to play paintball?
@JamesGB81 i like hyperball with alot of cover so i can get up to the 50 and blow the crap out of the other team... and theres usually some great places for laning... but i love woodsball
what also helped airball take off was the fact that most paint bounced of the bunkers and didnt spray the guy looking out from behind its goggles with paint
What would it be called playing on the building style maps? Never heard anyone call it anything specific but i like to play on those
2 things; Is Xball just airball but with a huge inflatable X in the middle or is there more to it? and is Scenario baisicly woodsball with buildings and a kinda story to it or more than that? Just wondering because I'd say I like Scenario but then I realise that i don't really know the differences. lol.
Wonder if there's gonna be a next generation version of a paintball field.
@THESoloBeast XBall is a style of tournament play where victory is determined by different objectives that a team does. For example, flag pulls, flag hangs and eliminations count as points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Hope I helped! (:
@Link3n1 i think if its indoors, or like buildings paintball should be called something too like inball or like buildball
love the hyperball, but still a woodsballer at heart!
I find they way I play is kinda mixed between speedball and woodsball: I like to rush the other team as fast as I canto close into range, but when I get to a good vantage point I hunker down and just light then up from a secure bunker. I tend to take a lot of people by surprise that way.
Is the proflex bottom detectable or would you need to break it?
I have played SpeedBall, WoodsBall, and AirBall and I prefer WoodsBall because there is more versatility in what you can use for cover
What is the best speedball gun?
cool how it evolved. we only play woodsball and scenario mostly where I live though
I love your shirt, looks great.
one of the places i play at is arkenstone paintball in ga and they have a map where its this realy deep empty creek bed that winds and it has cover in it and you cant leave the creek bed and its absalute mayhem
Mike showing some old school roots in this video.
@LiamSalter some colleges have paintball teams so yeh it could be a class at some schools
@MrJPmeadia how can we get scholls to make paintball teams? my high scholl doesnt have a paintball team but everyone want to play really bad?
@iKnubs in my opinion a luxe 2.0 or a machine vapor
What is beter ? 18'' barrel or e-trigger ??
Xball is a field layout for air ball. basically it's got that giant X bunker in the middle. it forces the teams to play more toward the flanks in the middle, cause that X really has no tactical value. that field layout is basically the same in all fields. snake bunker on one side, X in the middle, "dorito" bunkers on the other side.
Is the piranha gti good for any matches im just getting into paintball
what should i choose speedball or woodsball should i call the radio station to ask this
hey mike im trying to get into speed ball and was wondering if the etha would be good for that
try the etek 4 100 buck more expensive but they are definitely worth it
yea man the etha is good for speedball and woodsball
I'd take the etha over the etek, honestly.
I got to camp penalton paintball. I dont know how to classify it it is a mixture of woodsball and hyperball and some speedball. What would that be classified as.
What field do you go to now orbital or khans
what field areyou at because i think ive played there before
@LiamSalter some high schools & collages have paintball teams!
@phipps121 well its not the new layout, im not saying that the new layout is awesome but it's not the layout's fault. is GOG eXTGy paintball marker good????please answer!!!
Is it a good gun ? ( tippman x7 phenom )
@pyromaster55
Or how funny it was to step on the hose and watch your opponent's bunker deflate
@Voudim how is it different?
you can have paintball clubs in high school and things and teams for paintball you just would play and practice at your local paintball field. Its also up to your administration at your school and your school board if they pass the paintball club.

so i know i can use my tippmann alpha black for woods ball but could i use it for any of these other ones?
Can you use a milsim in speedball?
what feel is this cause i want to go?
Sorry but is there any other way of payment on markerbids. I cannot pay with credit card. Is there any way that I can transfer the money over to a bank account.
@LiamSalter lol yh either tht or a sport in school would be awesome
PLEASE ANSWER Is recball similar to speedball?
@TTUsucks88 correction speedball is a term when mixing an upper with a downer
I wonder what paintball will evolve into next? 0G ball?
acidball
I would say it could get more complicated, like with upper levels, but the whole evolution was to simplify and diversify the fields. They should make bunkers that automatically move themselves so during the game the field is constantly shifting.
this dude would make an awesome coach
all of them are awesome but there is just something about woodsball that i love
@comedyofficial
No we just didn't make it to Sunday, so since we suck.... we went to badlands to burn off the Gino's East we huff'd down the night before hahahha
What would you consider a speedball gun? I don't really know anything about paintball.
Vincent Attardi Look at the Bob Long intimidator that is speedball
Vincent Attardi Well to me a speedball gun is a more low profiled gun that has a great amount of efficiency. At least that's what I look for in a marker.
The empire mini gs is a great marker
+Vincent Attardi If you are looking to get into the sport, go to a local store and ask to hold and maybe shoot some different guns. so whats next after air ball??
@dudearlo thats awesome!
Really interesting stuff.
not only that, most paintballs will bounce off airball bunkers, making it alot easier to clean up both the bunker and the floors
WOO Bad lands! My friend met you there after your tourney was canceled.
IT would be fun, think of, above ground bunkers that has trenches that connect them to other bunkers
@LiamSalter actually colleges do have paintball as a sport!
who designed your jersey
Spend the extra $100 dollars more than the mini and get the Empire Axe. It's a great gun and i love mine.... I broke my first ball in that gun after playing about 15 days of paintball starting about 11AM not stopping till 8PM.... also the axe has way more upgrades than the mini and can use way more barrels where the mini can only use stock and CP pretty much... the Axe costs about $425-$750.... the $750 already have great upgrades most the time (different colors [rarity] can make them cost more)
very nice place they got there.

Gotta love orbital, I've had some good times out there.
holy crap did u find that on ur own?
@codfan8 xball is the same thing with just a huge X in the middle of the field
proflex right? it looks kinda large on mike.
Do you go to orbital or khans
I think speedball is more commonly used to what your calling airball. Not sure why but I think speedball fits the type of play better anyway :D
Woodsball... Plus who would dislike this video? Duh, it's info that u probably looked up, he explained it good.
