They are not robots at all. The reason why BTS is so popular is because they are true musicians who write and produce; each one of them has their unique style and personality and you can feel it while listening to their music. They all have solo projects too and they are tackling very important matters like mental health, self love, suicide, corruption, the intensive educational system in Korea and more...
Their agency is managing them but they have a real artistic freedom and each one of them have their own studio where they produce music. Their sound is usually more hip hop / RnB but they are not afraid to explore all genres of music.
you should react to those :
    - Ma city
    - Tomorrow
    - Spine Breaker
    - the truth untold
edit : Oh and they REALLY love and enjoy performing. one of the members said the thing he loves the most about his job is doing concerts.

The rapline prefers sneakers. The rest prefers more of a black style suited type shoes and boots. It's just taste and preference. It's like this when they're traveling through airports and at their concerts too when they wear a plain tshirt & jeans. Rapline & Tae loves to wear sneakers. Meanwhile Jungoo and Jimin love wearing dress shoes/boots. Nothing more.

That was so interesting to watch and listen to the perspective of people who don't know BTS and have no prejudice. Thank you! These boys live to perform. They mentioned before how much they love their job and how they want to do it together as a group for a long time. Every time they perform, they will always give you the impression that they know what they are doing and that they love being on stage. Just a little FYI, there are three rappers in the group, 2 of them are underground rappers (RM, the leader and who rapped the bridge, and Suga, the first rapper in this song) before debuting and they helped train the 3rd one as a rapper who was an underground hiphop dancer pre-debut and who also happens to be their performance leader. He (Jhope, the 2nd rapper in this performance) is one of the biggest reasons why BTS performs the way they do. He makes sure everyone knows what to do on stage. They are the real deal and all three rappers have released their own mixtapes with songs that they mostly wrote, composed and produced themselves. The remaining four vocalists are Jungkook (the main vocalist who was doing the adlibs), Jimin (the one who started the song), Jin (the one with the rose) and V (the blue haired guy). I remember Jimin saying/complaining before how difficult it is for people who do concerts to stop performing for a while. They rested for a couple of months in preparation for their new album. He kept on saying that he wants to have a concert soon and meet the fans. They are on their world stadium tour right now and just today finished performing in Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.

Actually 2 of BTS's rappers were active in the underground Korean Hip Hop Scene before they auditioned for BTS. Also BTS was originally supposed to be a Hip Hop Crew (not Kpop Idols) the third rapper joined around the time that BTS was still supposed to be a Hip Hop Crew so he didn't have vocal lessons either. Somewhere in 2011 they were switched to a Kpop group and then they added the 4 vocalists to the group. You can really tell by BTS old albums that were way more rap/hip hop focused.

    • @marshmart965
      @marshmart965 5 років тому +5

The last rapper who joined the groups, Hoseok, was chosen to be a vocalist first. But then, they need more rapper. Finally, they chose Hoseok because he was an underground dancer who familiar with the hip hop beats. So, he trained himself, learning from RM (Namjoon) & Suga (Yoongi) as a rapper and the result is amazing. You see Hoseok can sing, rap, write lyrics and compose or produce songs. many people made many great comments already, so i guess i'd like to make my addition to be about how i wish more people would watch bts performances and take them for what *BTS* can do, instead of grouping it with how KPOP is. because i see so many people say "oh these kpop groups dance and sing this well, what a performance" while watching a BTS performance, it's a majorly untrue statement. it's like watching a beyonce performance and saying "wow all american pop singers are this amazing performers." which we all know is an untrue and unfair thing to say. no one says that ever.
when people react to bts majority of the time they do this grouping with kpop. they fail to realize that only VERY FEW kpop artists perform live at such high level. if you watch korean award shows most of the line up doesn't even perform live stages. yeah the stages will look nice because there's choreography most of the time, but there's also lipsync over most of them. i'll never forget just in 2017 when the only other people who performed live at k-award shows besides bts were the girl group MAMAMOO and a few solosits who do static stages.
my point is, i wish more people would realize how ridiculous it is to match one artists' abilities to a whole genre's. not saying no one else in kpop has good abilities or stages, but bts is really among the top of the creme bunch. it's really as if like you are getting introduced to a whole new genre with one of said genre's bests. honestly, this is also why so many "new" fans who got introduced to kpop via bts remain bts only or heavily bts biased fans even after exploring more artists in it.
anyway, it's nothing aimed at YOUR reaction guys. it was pretty obvious to me that you knew your own expertise super well, while the kpop/bts aspect was a new experience. it's refreshing to watch and i loved your commentary as well. this was just something that i've been thinking about for a long time while watching new people reacting to them. i just hope you gonna take it as what BTS can do, instead of making it as an umbrella over kpop. they aren't the only one capable kpop performers, but it still irks me when when people use their stages to form an opinion over all of kpop, i especially think about this when i'm sitting through 3-4 hours long korean award shows and there are like, only 2-3 artists on the line-up worth not only watching but listening to for a live.

    • @DrMarcReynolds

First, I want to say that this was great analysis, and I hope you do more! Second, I think both you are spot on about the white/black shoes being 1. to draw your eyes to the footwork of the choreography and 2. to increase their sense of individuality while still feeling cohesive. Kpop is absolutely as much about the visual as it is the auditory, and if you watch some more kpop live stages and music videos you'll see what I mean! They definitely do not shy away from the visually interesting using lots of colors, elaborate sets, complex choreography, etc.! It's really something I love about it. So much attention and effort is paid to every aspect of a performance. You guys also mentioned how they made everything look easy and there was nothing distracting you from the performance like discomfort or tension. Kpop idols mention a lot how they practice expressions/gestures to use during performances, so they definitely train very hard to make everything look effortless and charming at the same time haha. I could ramble forever about this kind of stuff!! Anyways, thanks for the great video!!

Their passion is their jobs. Thats why they are so loved. They strive so hard to get to where they are now, believe it or not they have debuted for 6 years and have been practicing together for 10 years. When they were asked about getting rest after the stadium tour, namjoon said they can rest when they are in grave but for now its all about returning the love and spreading their messages. Thats how passionate they are about music. They were in studio almost every second producing songs, without rest or regrets. Just a little fun facts. Love the reactions 💜💜💜

Careful with that robot comment. I know it was a joke, and *I know you countered it beautifully!*, but to explain why fans are triggered, BTS gets a huge amt of hate for seeming too precise to be real or to be performing live. The truth is they are talented and they've lived and practiced together for almost 10 yrs. They've said sometimes they don't even need to have verbal conversations. 😂😂😂
Oh oh - the manicured statement is problematic, too. Their agency is an anomaly.
There is usually a reason to their clothes. In their Korean comeback performance of this song, the leader wore dark clothes while the others were in pastels. People speculate it was to tease the title of the next album in this series. It is based on Carl Jung's Map of the Soul. This album is Persona, the black clothes could signify the next will be Shadow, and there are strong signs the third will be Ego, as those are parts of Jung's theoretical Self. And you know, their last tour was Love Yourself and this one is Speak Yourself. At a concert early last year, Jin wore a shirt with the word Persona scribbled on the side. They mess with us like that constantly.
I realllly want to see the two of you team up on more BTS performances! I love the comments on the sound techs backstage! There is a pit of ignorance among fans and haters alike who know nothing about backing tracks, singing and dancing simultaneously, and what goes into putting on a live performance. More, pretty please! You would be doing a service.
And ARMYs would loooove to see what your opera classes have to say about BTS!

BTS ONLY POLICY It must be the language barrier, then. In English, bland is not complimentary. BTS works hard to open the world up to mutual understanding and growth, and it is counterproductive to perpetuate stereotypes such as behavior of "west" vs "east". Your example is easily negated by the qualifications of our channel host. We don't know each other, but I called you out as rude based on my own cultural definitions and because I'm likely older than you. They work so hard but they love their work, they do it with passion and watching them motivates and inspires me to also try and do a better job. They have their own main choreographer who has been their dance teacher and performance director for at least 8 years. They also have have various voice coaches, but also all kind of feed off each other. Probably the coolest thing about them. Each member has certain strengths they bring to the group, but they always work hard to share their talents and coach each other. Like the three rappers are the main song writers. They used to help and teach each other and now they are helping all the other members be able to right songs. There's 3 main dancers but all trained in different areas. They teach each others styles and then also help the other members perfect choreographies. 4 vocalists were for a long time at different skill levels, but it was never super competitive and they would practice together even if it meant the formerly better member would get less lines. (Line distribution is a big deal in kpop because it also directly affects screen time and it's always a challenge putting so many members on a track. Especially if you get into the really big 13 member groups)
BTS is a ridiculously strong team who are genuinely like family. In the early days they were forced to live together because of money but they still choose to all share a house and are the least toxic family I have ever seen. They crack each other up 24/7 and even news reports about them will attribute their huge success to their amazing chemistry in part.
They only continue to get better and better as they eachother's own coaches

Their label, BigHit, lets the boys have a say on what to wear, what to do, and what kind of music they wanna do, and that's one of the reasons why they have such a strong fanbase: they're genuine and sincere 😊💜 so it's highly likely the boys were the one who chose their shoes, albeit with a bit of an influence from their stylists.
