As a result of large-scale shocks such as Covid 19 the importance of resilient social protection systems has been highlighted. Adaptive social protection aims at building social protection systems which will withstand shocks such as pandemics, climate change, and economic and political shocks. It is relevant to the protection of human rights, the attainment of the sustainable development goals, protecting vulnerable groups, reducing poverty, and combatting inequality.
