Literally crying because of how relatable this is. I have an almost 2 year old and my body is still not back to what it was pre-baby and I workout 5 days per week at the gym. A few months ago, I finally accepted that I would never get back to my pre-baby body because I, in fact, did have a baby. Thank you Nicole for posting this extremely relatable video - I’ve done this exact thing - trying on all my old clothes and donating pretty much all shorts and pants. Much love ❤

Thank you so much for sharing this. As a mom with a 10 month old, it’s hard to look at your body and not have your clothes fit. I wish people would talk more about this so us moms aren’t putting so much pressure on ourselves to get back to our bodies before pregnancy. This honestly helped and I’m going to tackle my closet now 😊.

I think no matter how great your relationship with your body, food, exercise, self image is, it can still be really hard to handle when your body changes in unexpected ways. I remember feeling so strange after giving birth because things I used to love “fit” but looked strange and awkward on me because the shape of my body had changed so much. I was so ill with severe nausea and vomiting my entire pregnancy that I actually lost weight while pregnant then ended up gaining postpartum because my body was starved for nutrients and I could finally enjoy eating again. The reversal of expectations was kind of a weird mindwarp and I remember struggling with feeling like I didn’t feel good in any of my clothes, but I also didn’t really know what to buy to make me feel more confident, like all the little things I’d learned about what types of cuts and styles suited me best were suddenly thrown out the window. Anyways, thanks for talking openly and kindly about this, and good luck finding some new things that you feel great.

Nicole, thank you so much for this video. I gave birth 10 months ago and my shoulder and ribcage changed so much. I was holding on to so many clothes that will never fit and made me feel bad. First thing tomorrow, i am doing a big clean up and starting strong again. Thank you!!!!

I think it can take us a while to come to terms with our new body and how clothes fit differently and its not about weight or being unhealthy. Like I said in the video I weight about the same I did before Sage but the weight sits differently on my body now and bones have literally shifted!

This video comes at such a great time! I’m 14mos postpartum and feel like my body started changing at 4mos pregnant and so much of closet has gone unworn since then. In January I started making a list of clothing I want to replace and am trying to be super thoughtful about my purchases so that I can eventually have a smaller but quality wardrobe I love and feel good in as a mom. Please keep us posted on your style evolution as a mom! ❤

Thank you so much for sharing. Very vulnerable of you. This matches how I feel two years post partum also. My stomach and the loose skin is what I’m most insecure about. But our bodies are amazing and deserve the grace and appreciation so I’ve really come to accept it. You’re totally right on how our weight may go back down but it does change your body forever.

Thank you for this. I’m 10 months post partum. Even though I know the amazing thing I did creating a human, I still very much struggle with my body image after having a baby. I appreciate you talking about this because it was so relatable! Also - I am really big on decluttering so this is another reason I loved this video. Good for you on minimizing your wardrobe! And exactly like you said, when you are reinventing yourself a lot of the things you were into before you don’t align with anymore. I’m on the same boat. I have a capsule wardrobe and love it!

SUCH GOOD MESSAGES, I loved « I don’t want clothes that make me feel like I need to work out or eat healthier » & « if these shorts make me feel like my body is not right for them, then I don’t want them »
I’ll try to think that way next time I have a hard time parting with clothes that are too tight. Thank you !!!

I completely understand & agree with you, I struggled with my abdomen, my clothing changing and just in general with the body changes that come during each pregnancy and after. Thank you for creating and posting this video. I have gone through my closet and dresser and now a trash bag full of clothes that I no longer want / fit me. I shocking was able to fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes within two weeks of having my daughter. Now my biggest obstacle is accepting my body the way it is. I am so lucky to have a husband that loves my body and my curves.

I am almost 15 months postpartum and my results are very similar to yours. I have no stretch marks but a lot of loose skin still. I got back down to pre pregnancy weight (lost even more from a health issue), and in many ways I still look heavier even though I’m not. And I think that’s just because of the loose skin. I also have loose skin on my thighs. Overall, I like you who had little expectations just to keep a healthy self image, am happy and content with my body, because of videos like this being shared. Also having a baby at 34 the body doesn’t quite bounce back as quickly (so it seems). It’s always best to give ourselves grace. Thanks for sharing this!! ❤

I got back into crossfit and working out and definitely slacked off the pelvic floor and core work as I felt better. My gap has come together but as I put more weight on the bar I have definitely had times of feeling like I need to go back to basics and dial the core work in again and I definitely notice the difference in the strength of my core, regardless of what it looks like! Currently 19 months postpartum!

And also I cleared my closed too! Now it is empty except for sweats and few dressier pieces, that is all that can fit me right now.

I'm 2 months post partum and I don't think I'll be back to my pre pregnancy weight anytime soon because of breastfeeding. It was so encouraging to see you go through and donate so many lovely pieces. It kills me to get rid of things I love. But, just like you said, as mothers our bodies and styles change. I haven’t dealt with my clothes yet. I did just buy a few pants in the next size up. It’s hard to buy that next size up but it felt good to finally get out of my maternity pants (I’d been wearing them since my pre-pregnancy ones don’t fit). Haha, it might take me awhile still to go though my old clothes, however, it was nice to see that it’s OKAY to pass on the stuff that doesn’t fit or feel good anymore even if I once really loved the way it fit and felt. “I’ve loved none of this for too long.”

This video isn’t triggering at all for me, rather comforting actually.😌
It took me a long time to mentally get to where I am now and realize that we don’t all bounce back, as they say.
I have a 5 year old and currently my daughter is 28 months and I’m still breastfeeding 🙏🏽
I was a huge gym junky pre kids and really in shape. I was so sure after having my son I would be back in the gym as soon as I got the go ahead from my OB, but boy was I wrong! It just wasn’t my priority anymore. I love being a mom and I’m barely getting back into only THINKING that I want to start working out again. I say my priorities are different but it’s also laziness and having a full time job with kids = being tired. People see me and say wow you look great for having kids, whatever that means but in my head I think @thanks but I know my body and how it was before… ANYWAY, I slowly started to let go of the clothes that I loved before kids realizing that I will never be 120 ever again and my style has changed so much as well but I also don’t really know what my style is either. What I’m trying to say is I finally realize that I’m so appreciative for what my body was/is able to do. My body created two beautiful kids. That’s pretty amazing!❤️🙏🏽💕

I’m not sure but I was already thinking enough is enough and I’m clearing it out this weekend so this was perfect timing!

I went through this for most of my life but once I committed to decluttering and MINIMISING my wardrobe, I never have this issue anymore. The work was so worth it !!!

As a mama of 28months old and 4month old the part of getting rid of the old clothes- did it fairly early after having both of them because also in some clothing even though it fits I don’t feel like myself anymore - my style changed. Also always had super small waist- it’s still small but my torso doesn’t look different but it feels different a lot , my breast got bigger even though second time around I wasn’t able to breastfeed past first 7weeks due to health reasons. Do feel like I have extra skin for at least another two people on my belly… I have bad stretch marks from first pregnancy but they are healing nicely even though second they got stretched even more. Genetic definitely plays the biggest role in my case. What I want to say yeah it’s process to accept body changes and get body back where we’re comfortable with it

Love this video! I’m 15 months pp and struggling with my new body after 2 kids. All my clothes make me feel not good and I’ve begun to pass them on and start fresh but I’ve found that I can’t really understand my style for my new body and struggle with where to shop for clothes! Where do you find a majority of your basic everyday functional clothing?? I love your style. 🙂🙂

I need to do this. So many pre baby clothes that I'm never going to wear again. If we're going "out out" I keep trying them on, feeling crap and getting upset. When really I just need some new things that I feel good in

I’ve never resonated with a video as much in my life! 🎉❤ 1st time Mum to a 19 month old here and everything you say is exactly word for word what I feel/need to/want to do regarding my wardrobe. Definitely interested in your build of a capsule wardrobe of mix and match basics, this is what I’m shooting for too! X

What a timing! I'm 1 year postpartum and have just gone through my wardrobe the other day and have been trying on work clothes since I'm returning to the office in 2 weeks. I realized that none of the bottoms fit (trousers and skirts) even though the number on the scale is the same as pre-pregnancy😅
I'm feeling a bit sad since I really love some of those clothes and don't feel motivated to shop for work clothes but oh well...
Such a relatable video, thank you🤗

Thanks for sharing this Nikole. I have diastasis recti and even though it's a lot better 18 months later after physio, it was a 7cm gap and my abdomen is still bulging and my ribcage is definitely wider. I had to donate 80% of my wardrobe and it's hard to say goodbye to the 'old you'! Definitely an emotional shift as well as a physical one.

Omg I couldn’t relate more to your frustrations with clothes/ your closet. I wish I could just get rid of EVERYTHING and start fresh. But also I’m 18 weeks pregnant with baby #3 so the body changes are still happening/coming 😅
