🌸 An exceptional and much needed talk. Even within the first few moments, Safiya shares enough insights as well as glimpses of lived experiences that for me can take a lifetime to better understand. Yet, I better quickly work on understanding/relating to what Safiya is sharing about as each day is filled with people who are made to suffer due to our harmful propensities.
I am in need of an accurately captioned version of this great video so we can include it in a course about digital citizenship for college faculty. Could you kindly enable the Community Contributions feature so I can edit the auto-captions? If you could please reply and let me know, that would be great. Thank you.
Aloha Sargent A closed captioned version is available here: amara.org/en/videos/BtyvzpzrmdHm/info/safiya-noble-challenging-the-algorithms-of-oppression/ I know this is a year late reply, but I hope that it can be useful for someone in some way.
@@tania_0rt3ga This is fantastic! Thank you! I was planning on showing this for my first-year college writing/research class, but I was concerned about the captions. I'll definitely be including your version instead :)
As of September 2021, the Google results for black girls seems to have improved amazingly. However, the search for beautiful shows mostly white women with light features
@@shetheyandkindagay I’m confused. Do you know Nick Pharo? Have you seen his comments before? Or are you the kind of person who calls anyone a racist for disagreeing with your view on a racial topic? If it’s the latter, can you see how watered down and meaningless the term “racist” has become?
Great video, i'm glad that my teacher assigned us this video
