A truly good friend would caution her about treating people so badly, even in jest. It just isn't funny, only cruel. She had seen the danger in past behavior yet chose to continue acting as she does. I do hope that she gets some real friends who are not afraid to tell her the truth about such things.
@@candice4855 Thank you! I have seen too many people who hold on to bitter feelings and use it in the guise of humor to lash out at other people, because they are not properly dealing with it. In her case, being a professional comedian, it is easy to exploit her problems in this manner to profit financially and professionally until pushed too far to be hidden within the humor anymore. I just do not understand how people can be so surprised that she received backlash for her behavior, that people can be so blind to the fact that we always reap what we sow, more than we sow, and later than we sow, just as Kathy did. I do hope that she recovers in every way.
@@jezra4427 That's true. Also men who don't fit the stereotypes of what is thought of as a "man" are treated like women - second class, such as how gay men and artsy men are treated badly all the time.
@Denise Higgins Sorry that happened to you. I have have a lot of depression. There are a lot of people who don't know what to say or how to empathize because they have low empathy. I have been lucky to have some very good people who have been supportive and loving. The ones who weren't, I have had to "unfriend" them. I truly believe those type of people are incapable of being authentic friends. I don't want them in my life. I'd rather have a couple people in my life than the ones who are just Fairweather friends.
This woman helped me so much when I was a teenager and learning to accept myself for who I am. Would’ve been devastated to have heard she committed suicide after helping me abstain from it in my darker years
I had never thought about it that way, but she was there when I was 17 and without friends, and watching her specials made me feel so happy, I learned and accepted so much about myself thanks to her and her stand-up specials and reality show. She’s important to me. Love her so much.
As someone whose attempted suicide, judgment from others to such an extreme could literally kill someone. cancel culture has become dangerous. It almost feels like an eye for an eye culture now. When we lack forgiveness and we discard people, there will be a dangerous ripple affect. I’m genuinely concerned about people justifying their harassment because someone said or did something that was ‘inappropriate’ Is our goal to drive people to suicide??? It’s become a disgusting society
turns out actions do have consequences. When you willingly put yourself in the spotlight your actions will be judged Don't act like this is anything deeper than what it is
@@hollyjay3628 people are so harsh when they can hide behind an online identity. But these are real people and the hate that is heaped upon them has real consequences.
@@hollyjay3628 No, people are frustrated that other people had their lives destroyed for a lot less. Some of it was from things being spun out of context or for words said a decade ago. Most of which probably don't have the financial gains to go to court. The whole world hates Trump, even when the picture came out. Yet people were still outraged. She needs to take accountability. Mind you, since day one I supported her right to post that picture. But she should have knew she would have lost friends, fans, and contracts. She isn't a Punk Rock star. She should have realized her demographic and how her demographic is the folk that get offended the most.
I attempted suicide in my past, but I promised myself that if I lived though it, I would do my best to make a positive contribution by making them laugh / trying to make people happy - life, friends, strangers... - at my expense, not at the expense of others. That doesn't appear to be what she's done. Folks aren't telling her to "jump," but if she decides to, that's her choice.
Her “friends” left when the going got hard (cough) Anderson Cooper etc, a friend stays and holds you up in the good and bad times. It is so painful to lose friends, when they turn their backs on you. It’s heartbreaking. But at least Kathy will now know who her friends are. Who she can rely and lean on. Wish her the best x
Yeah, I think when it comes to it people are weird or complex in general, you probably get better loyalty from an animal like a dog or cat.. humans are usually all for things that benefit them, people is drawn to hords but its only the benefit of it not the person per say, but still people in movies and social media live of that, can never end well in the long run, 😎
This lady's comedy got me through such a tough time. She's a HILARIOUS story teller. The picture stunt was not well thought out, but I respect her for taking a stand against someone she's known for years and knows is a doofus. I pray for her mental and physical health. I think she's going to have great success in the future if she can pull through. Thinking of you, Kathy. I love you.
You find her behavior acceptable because of your politics. I used to think Kathy was great, then she became bullying and hateful, and her career disappeared like a fart in the wind. She will never be relevant again.

Agreed. And i also wonder how much of it is an artists idea and you show up and just do it. It was not a big deal for me, fine if other people criticized it but it shouldn’t have ruined her career.
I’m going to pray to Joan Rivers to come help her friend! Joan had some very low times and I think if Joan was still here, she would have already been the first to give support to Kathy! Joan never apologized for a joke and would never do so. We are living in another time but I hope Kathy is going to be ok. I love her!

What a lovely, kind and thoughtful sentiment. I’m so, so sorry about your friend. I agree, it’s a blow to the gut to hear that someone you know has chosen their fate in such a way. Those personal thoughts and feelings can be well-hidden, a singular secret kept only to themselves for fear of judgment or simply shame. I dated someone in college who killed himself, and, yes, even these many years later it’s hard to believe he’s gone. I still don’t understand why he did it. Kathleen has made me truly laugh with her unique take on celebrity. I, too, am so happy to see her looking well and beautiful. We love you Kathy!
In the 1990's I produced a pilot for a show about soap operas, with Kathy as the host. She was amazing - not only talented but so down to earth and professional! I can not believe either of us is old enough for that to have been the 1990's. My fervent wish is that we both get much older.
Kathy was normal and *very* funny in the 90s and 00s but by 2013 she became more and more fame hungry, mean, not nearly as funnyand would do anything to stay in the spotlight and then the Trump incident backfired on her.
@@HSfox True but career wise it was not a smart thing to do. Even though I don’t condone violence like that, Trump is someone who on my opinion has brought that upon himself. But Anyways i still feel bad to her how she was blackballed completely, no wonder she just disappeared after a while
Man did this message tell my story. I barely survived my brother’s suicide, and truthfully there are times I still fight it. His pain rolled downhill like a snowball that keeps growing and growing and getting faster and then hit me and the rest of my family. It never ever goes away. 9 years later and I just cried yesterday again. One of the ways I made it was watching the D List, Kathy’s talk show, read her books, listened to her Reading her books, u name it. I wish I could have helped Kathy like she helped me. Seeing how she mocks god I’m sure he doesn’t care anymore. Bible is clear. He said he hated Esau but loved Jacob. Esau was a mocker and sold his birth right. So that means god doesn’t love everyone.
Jesus. Talk about hitting rock bottom. She’s a real survivor who went through hell and, amazingly, came through it. I’m sure every day’s still a struggle, but so much respect for her perseverance. Also, shame on the people who went after her family members. And extra shame on the friends who fled.
I never really liked this woman but its amazing when you hear someones story that you realize you have more than a few things in common with them. Having been through some of those struggles i can really empathize and wish well in her recovery
I’m a republican but I love Kathy. That’s her opinion. Can’t hate people because they think differently then yourself about some issues. Her ASAP Rocky interview was so funny.
She took it too far, thinking she could politicize her routine with a severed head. Must have forgotten that a few years earlier severed heads, courtesy of ISIS, were horrifying people, not amusing them.

She's a genius. Went on a harassment campaign trying to get progressives to doxx and harass children even after she knew the children were innocent. Then completely washed her hands of it by telling a sob story about addiction and harassment and leaving out the fact that she started the whole mess.
I love Kathy Griffin. If she were a man, she would NEVER get the kind of hate that she does. She’s unapologetic and bold in a American society that doesn’t value free speech anymore (if it ever did). Bless. She's been thru such a brutal time. I'm really not surprised to hear that she suffered so deeply & was suicidal. Losing her "friends" had to have been beyond traumatic. I've always applauded her honesty and forthright nature. I'm so happy she wasn't successful in her attempt to leave this world. I'm enormously gratified to hear that her husband is so loyal and supportive. Speaking from experience, that makes a big difference. I do hope she will be happy and at peace going forward. Bless
I agree. Losing friends and family 👪 is very very traumatic. Her so called friends were actually conditional friends. It reminds me of the Jehovah's Witness organization. The GB of that religious culture, shun people when they make mistakes and your entire social network within this culture turns against you when you are shunned. A great many of people have committed suicide, in this organization. Child SEXUAL ABUSE is also a major problem that the leaders cover up. The Australian Royal Commission case #29 proves this. It took place in 2015. The whole culture of Jehovah's Witnesses are brainwashed and are in a DOOMSDAY CULT.
@@Kiss_lynda I agree....to a point. I don't think she had any idea how that "Trump head" skit would be received. I DO think that shunning her completely was way too harsh. Anyone in the public eye that does anything subversive should expect some backlash. I just think this was too extreme.
@RN RN If she is lying ...its very sad that she would have to do that.😔...bottom line, you never know what someone is going through. Let's have more compassion and stop being so critical of each other and judgemental. Evidently she has challenges. Like we all do.
@RN RNOk. But remember, God said in his word the Bible that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. So, its God's decision to determine who rinders that kind of judgment. There are a lot of people in this world that have done very serious bad things. Hitler, was very bad & definitely demonic for what he did. As well the Assyrians on how 🤔 they did people even how they killed them. They were known for their cruelty and brutality. I not saying two wrongs make a right but we don't really know these people, we just see or witness an action. We have all errored and are imperfect. And some people do things like Kathy and don't APOLOGIZE. Coumo...the new York mayor apologized for his wayward disrespectful actions towards women and came to the conclusion to resign. Now whether it was a dishonest apology or not, we have to remember that we can not read hearts. Only God can. But one thing I can say about him is that all these other high profile, high position idiots that defile women and disregard, and disrespect them have not even given an apology to the victims. A struggling person is not a bad person. Jesus talked so much about forgiving one another and sometimes we can't even forgive ourselves. I truly appreciate your perspective and your voice and opinion on how 🤔 you feel, and I respect that. I just know that some folks are very slow learners and when egos get in the way, that's where they Etched, God, Out= E.G O....all we can do is pray. Even the Bible tells us to pray for our enemies.

I can’t say I’ve been a fan of Kathy’s but I do like some of her comedy to a certain extent. As a recovering addict myself, I knew she was addicted to pills when I watched her on an episode of The Wendy Williams Show a few years ago. Like they say, takes one to one. Everything about the way she carried herself on that episode was very clear to me that she was on something. For those who don’t know about addictions it might not be easy to spot but once you’ve been in those shoes, you can spot an addict from a mile away. You can tell she is no longer abusing pills, she even looks a bit younger. Hope she continues to do better.
I hope she recovers and live a long life, just so she can realize that people move on and forget. She has good opportunity to help others with her story.

I highly recommend you read her book then. I wonder if she’ll write a new one after all of this. I hope so (if she feels comfortable.) So glad she’s doing better now.
Its sad that you have to go through something so difficult to figure out who your true friends really are. I mean these people tell you to stop speaking to your family if they support someone politically, telling them to be horrible to their families and cut them off because of who they voted for, and she's suprised they treated her like she was a plague, I'm not. I do wish her the best with her cancer diagnosis.
Calling someone out who yelled at you in public is not the same as death threats and harassing someone's sister who's dying in the hospital. Nowhere close.
Good for her, for getting up after the darkest period in her life. I do remember the Jesus bashing jokes, but not holding it against her. God / Jesus / Allah / Buddha, etc. also told us not to be judgmental. She’s fighting her battles, we all are, we just pray for each other that we can win them.
@Elias Boudinot Do you understand the context of how the word judgement was used here? Passing your negative biased ignorant opinion on someone has absolutely nothing to do with "standards". Standards don't come from hate.
So glad I'm not part of the celebrity world, they have major mental problems compared to the rest of the country. I'm just thankful that I am a conservative with traditional values and not associated with liberals or the woke mob or cancel culture. I'm still living like it's the 1990s, having fun with my simple, content life. It seems like the musicians, actresses and other celebrities are all just a mess. I'd choose my private - small life over fame and fortune any day. The things that Hollywood is involved in is just not in alignment with my values.
When I was 20 years old, I was approached by a playboy scout to do a Playboy video. This was in the early 1990s. I didn’t want to do nudity and I told him no, and he said just come to one party in and check it out and make your decision. I went to the Playboy mansion for one party and the drugs and depravity that I saw there shook me to my core and I never looked back. Hollywood is truly sick. There are many pedophiles in Hollywood as well. I have realized that many of these people have sick and twisted childhoods, and so they fall prey and are easy victims for this type of lifestyle.
“Name these kids. I want NAMES. Shame them. If you think these fuckers wouldn’t dox you in a heartbeat, think again,” kathy griffin was engaged in an all out effort to cause real harm to the covington catholic students by calling upon progressives to take action against them. Anderson Cooper was smart to throw her to the wolves. Even after the news broke that they were the actual victims she was still trying to get people to publish the children's names and addresses. That's when people started publishing hers and things got real scary for her. It's probably when she realized she crossed a bunch of lines that one should never cross and she's a terrible person and decided to cop with drugs.
I just want to hug her. I am going through an extremely difficult and uncertain time right now and I have been watching her standups. I hope she understands the ramifications of her actions too though. Simulating murder is not funny, it’s just not.
You know what's pretty horrifying? Trump and his words, his actions, do you remember January 6th? People died FOR REAL because he sent them to do what they happily did.
@John Smith Zamev's point still stands, the consequences of the many horrifying aspects of Trump's presidency were far worse. Yes what she did was wrong, disgusting and went way too far, but she did so as a way to protest a man SO vile that it WOULD end up leading to January 6th. Definitely not the right way but her intent was clearly on the mark as far as showing how dangerous this president was. (and for the record, I WAS a Trump supporter and voted for him in 2016).
@John Smith The issue is that you are comparing a very legal, horrible style and taste but LEGAL act she did to someone illegally robbing a bank. If you robbed bank you'd be guilty of not just immorality but a crime. What she did was a political protest, something done in other countries all the time in similar (disgusting yes) taste but WAS "free speech" and not illegal. To insinuate that we should not have compassion for this woman and she somehow deserves cancer as a result of literally one bad PR stunt goes against everything we should have as humans with empathy. As for Trump, the things he did TRULY hurt people. What Kathy did was a stupid thing for shock value. I have NO idea how you could compare the two. They are BOTH wrong and Kathy was held accountable by the public for it, but she didn't actually cause pain, suffering or tragedies for people as Trump did in SO many ways. I never liked Kathy Griffin. I still really don't to be honest, but I have absolute empathy for what she is battling. As much as I despise Trump, I'd find some empathy for him as well if he suddenly gets cancer, despite that he showed none for John McCain. She isn't "playing" any card. She tried to kill herself, wanting to die, and now wants to live when she realizes she has cancer. That's LIFE. Not a game. Not her playing anything. As much as I do not care for her, her candor and honesty in this interview is admirable and took some real courage to be that gut open and raw.
I have to wonder if everyone who made dolls of the Obamas and set them on fire, or hung them from trees, faced the same harassment as Kathy did. I doubt it seriously. You can't have a country that shrugs their shoulders when one president has that happen multiple times, and then outrage when one person does it once. Either everyone gets put on a watch list, or you need to think deeper about why one was acceptable and the other wasn't.
I wasn't offended by the photo of the head with ketchup. I wish nothing but the fastest recovery from the cancer surgery & One day at a time in drug recovery. You're not alone Kathy. ❤
@@alantinoalantonio I am not one to judge. I may be opinionated politically on Twitter and I keep learning the more critical I am the more I learn I have my own "stuff" to work on. Basically, I have a lifetime of stuff to work on.
@Mike M I am personally working on judging less and leading with love first. Appreciate Kathy sharing. We are so polarized politically and we don't have to be. We can lead with love and have respectful debates. Just like high school students in speech and debate. I am not perfect on the respectful debates but I am working on it!
Whenever I think about Kathy, I remember a story that a waitress posted about her most memorable customer that she served at her restaurant. She would serve alot of celebrities and she said the MOST kind & down to earth one she had ever met was Kathy. She said she was just so genuine and good to everyone there. The waitress had had many encounters- both positive and not so positive, and she said Kathy was the one that stood out the most because she was just a wonderful presence. Be well Kathy 💜 The world needs more woman with big voices and strong opinions.
That comic "stunt" she pulled with the severed head killed her career. I mean imagine some comic taking a pic like that with an Obama look alike. "Oh, it's just comedy. It's suppose to be funny." No, it's not. She crossed the line and now is paying the consequences. What did she think was going to happen? It's called Karma.
It would be a horrible thing to do to anyone. I guess she really hated Trump but still that's disgusting to depict an image of such gruesome violence towards anyone
A friend runs in when everyone else runs out. Actually, it's healthy for Kathy to find out who her friends are. Now she knows.
Yup, and One of the realest lessons.

As well the Assyrians on how 🤔 they did people even how they killed them. They were known for their cruelty and brutality. Now whether it was a dishonest apology or not, we have to remember that we can not read hearts. Only God can. My god. I'm a big Kathy fan. Until now I never knew this is how bad it got for her. Hearing this, I just feel incredible sadness... Kathy has brightened so many of my days. I don't care what the circumstances are: nobody ever deserves to go through this much. That stupid photo was artistic expression and supposed to be a metaphor for something 45 said. How it's completely unravelled into almost destroying this woman's life is absolutely unthinkable and appalling, FAR more so than that photo. I hope she stays strong and perseveres. ❤️
Self-sabotage is the worst. I am not a fan, but I truly wish her peace.
Hi
Same exact here, Never liked her or her work but I wish her well
In what world is it ok to hold “bloody” decapitated head of a president of the United States, I don’t care who the president is.. and she expects sympathy??? And yet remains un-remorseful. I used to be a big fan of hers because she was the underdog but never gave up.. I wish her well but karma had everyone’s address
I don’t even know if it was so much for holding up the severed head, as it was her vindictive and vile comments to anyone who doesn’t agree with her. She seems to be very childish.
Karma is a bitch with a long memory and pretty much zero sympathy for any other crap you've been through, but all kinds for what you've caused. Good luck, Ms. Griffin. I hope being a classless, mean-spirited bitch was worth it.
I tweeted at the time that the photo was a bad idea but I never supported canceling her, she’s a comedian.
It is so easy for pills, alcohol, and drugs to become a coping mechanism in place of prayer, exercise, and other positive forms of emotion management. We are in your corner Kathy and grateful that you are getting well.
Speak for yourself.
How can she pray for her health if she's an Atheist?
You really missed the mark with your comment as it comes off very ignorant and you made it about yourself. Not everyone is religious, especially Kathy, as she has made it known she is Atheist. Just remember that what you may think is easy to choose one thing over another, that usually isnt the case. If youve never had an addiction to substances than you wouldnt know how hard it actually is to choose what you call easy
@@asmrp2p903 are you kidding me? We are all prone to addictions and my comment was simply empathizing with her and the plight that we all face. We all have to fight to maintain healthy coping mechanisms.
I've supported this Lady from Day 1. I've never stopped. I won't stop. I even wrote her a long letter after the infamous photo to come work for her -- for free. Never heard back. She got a bad rap for the same thing a lot of people were feeling. I hope she survives this and thrives. The world needs more women like her. ❤
Kathy is one ballsy incredibly strong lady and I wouldn't expect anything less from her and I'll always have her back❤
I had no idea that it got *THAT BAD* for Kathy. I have so much love and admiration for her. I have grown up watching her for decades. I’m so proud that she survived and she’s still fighting. I certainly empathize with her for almost giving up.
♥️
Kathy Griffin is amazing. She's a survivor.
@Dan F you dude. My guess is she'll outlive you.
For everyone who actually loves and likes her I'm glad she's alive and I hope she finds the REAL friends she deserves.

I’ve been a Kathy Griffin fan for 20 of my 35 years. I can’t imagine my life without her. Please don’t go Kathy…
Kathy has made me laugh to the point of tears many many times. Never ever thought she'd make my eyese sweat like she has with this story. As a recovering addict and having survived 3 attempted suicides, and hearing her story overwhelmed me emotionally. Idk how to put it in words. But I'm glad she survived and is doing better and battling her demons. If you see this Kathy, I believe in you and know you're strong enough to stay clean. I'm proud of you and see you as an inspiration and role model in my life.
I highly recommend you read her book then.
I wonder if she’ll write a new one after all of this. I hope so (if she feels comfortable.) So glad she’s doing better now.
Its sad that you have to go through something so difficult to figure out who your true friends really are. For those who said they were her friend were actually really selfish and childish and even though its hard in the moment, you will come out of it a better person as you shed all that extra dead weight
the moment i saw her face as a little kid i knew i loved her and i think she's amazing and always will be; thank you Kathy!!!!
I love Kathy Griffin more than anything saw her live on Broadway. New York was so excited she got a very very royal deal and I have people in recovery and NA and AA. I’ve been in the Naren on fellowship and the Al-Anon fellowship and you go Kathie my prayers are with you.
I am surprised her mom Maggie was not mentioned. I would have asked if the passing of her mom contributed to Kathy's downfall.
I've watched this video several times. I definitely think the loss of her mom was a huge factor. If she tried to commit suicide in June 2020, that's three months after Maggie passed. She was without a doubt struggling with losing her, as anyone who is as close to their mother as she was would. That's another big reason why I feel for her.
@@Pancakeshouse85 Oh, I didn’t know her mom died! She was so funny on Kathy’s show years ago, and you could tell they loved each other so much. My mom and I were best friends, and I still grieve for her…my mom died in 2012.

She didn't deserve the backlash she got. I'm glad she's doing good now and actually doing a show in LV.

Right, even after all the other footage came out of the black Hebrew Israelites and the old Indian harassing the kids she still kept calling for people to post their names and addresses. Then has the nerve to cry about people who posted hers as a response. And when people showed up and started harassing her she still blamed everyone else.

Proceeds to chase a man and woman down the street cursing at them because the woman said "We love Trump." Gotcha 🙄 I don't like to hear about people attempting suicide, I have struggled with my own issues in that regard a few times in my life, but I don't feel sorry for her, she helped lay the groundwork of the cancel culture society, and like most people who do that, they forget that we are all human and therefore flawed so eventually at some point, they fall on the swords they set up for others. I used to be a fan of her, she was funny and I would always watch her shows but she lost me as a fan during the Trump presidency. I didn't then and I still don't agree with people being labeled awful things because of a vote. Alot of these celebrities lost their damn minds and some of them are still on a tangent. I am very over celebrities, they are not people I feel who should be allowed to deem themselves our moral compass nor should they be those we look up to, alot of them are putting on an act anyways, I mean look at this situation, she made a mistake and people who she thought were close friends didn't speak to her again, they are not these supportive rocks for people they claim to be, they are all so very fake. I mean these people tell you to stop speaking to your family if they support someone politically, telling them to be horrible to their families and cut them off because of who they voted for, and she's suprised they treated her like she was a plague, I'm not. I do wish her the best with her cancer diagnosis.
I thought that was so strange, too.

Calling someone out who yelled at you in public is not the same as death threats and harassing someone's sister who's dying in the hospital. Nowhere close.
APOLOGIZES WHEN SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE CANCELLED, TAKES THE APOLOGY BACK WHEN THEY UN-CANCEL HER AND SHE BECOMES A 'STAR OF EVIL'?

Good for her, for getting up after the darkest period in her life. I do remember the Jesus bashing jokes, but not holding it against her. God / Jesus / Allah / Buddha, etc. also told us not to be judgmental. She’s fighting her battles, we all are, we just pray for each other that we can win them.

I appreciate what you've said.
I'm glad you're happy, but I've known plenty of traditional and conservative people with all the same problems.
We need people like Kathy griffin to keep people honest.

I don’t believe in cancel culture and I do believe everyone makes mistakes and people can change and be forgiven. What she did though, regardless of your political beliefs, was pretty horrifying. Imagine if it was literally anyone else. Someone you love and care for. Would you not be absolutely horrified? You would. I wish the best for her, I do.
@John Smith I understand what you're saying. We can just agree to disagree on the specifics. No worries.
Kathy to me is like one of us! She knows how hard it is to suffer and still come through it! God Bless her!
Don’t forget she mocked God and publicly said her little award was her god now. She needs to come to repentance first.
I pray that she can make it through! I don’t agree with anything she believes but she is still a human being who deserves empathy! 🙏
