  • This session brings together experts and diverse global stakeholders to explore how artificial intelligence can identify, characterise, and quantify factors linked to supply chain disruptions for drug ingredients and finished drug products. The panellists will then discuss how solutions that utilise new technologies, such as AI and AMT, can be deployed following identification of potential shortage to improve efficiency in manufacturing and regulatory actions to safeguard consistent availability of quality medicines.
    This session will:
showcase how AI is currently being used to identify, prevent, and mitigate drug shortages.
explore future opportunities for ML and AI to further enhance the predictability of medicines supply chains and to drive timely solutions
discuss how AI can support faster responses to identified risks through specific use cases
explore barriers and solutions to integrating AI in LMICs: Discuss challenges faced in LMICs, including limited infrastructure, data availability, and expertise.
propose solutions, such as capacity-building programs, collaborative partnerships, and tailored AI models for resource-constrained settings.
This session will be moderated by Skhumbuzo Ngozwana, Board Member of the Federation of African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (FAPMA); Chief Executive Officer, Kiara Health; Chairman of the Board at Biovac with expert panellist including Matthew Christian- Director, Supply Chain Insights, USP, Daniel Rosen, Managing Director of New Business, Maisha Meds, Glaudina Loots, Director, Health Innovation South Africa Technology and Innovation Agency and Chimwemwe Chamdimba, Head of African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization (AMRH) Initiative at the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).
