That would be something-an AI winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I guess it’s already good at negotiating. Maybe it could help negotiate a lasting peace in some destructive conflict. :-)
When I used to study biology, one of the hardest things to do in the field was understand/map/structure proteins. This is huge! If AI can organize the geometry of proteins!
I never thought I'd see the day when AI would play a key role in biology, but here we are. It’s crazy how AlphaProteo could design proteins for cancer and viral infections! The future of medicine looks like it’s in AI's hands.
Wes, No doubt, you will continue to be great and even greater, because you promote others too. You're one of your kind brother, I'm never leaving your channel, told all my works to follow as well. ❤
Something tells me Natalia channel will blow up soon if not already. Good catch on this topic and really like the idea of creators collaborating for good.
Don't worry bro, we're close imo. I'm also waiting on AI (imo crispr is closest tech) to cure my genetic diseases. Not long now, imo by 2030, probably a little sooner.
Advances like this make me wonder about our place in the universe. While I don’t think we’re alone or the first intelligent life, and I do believe we live in the prime reality, what we’re doing with AI-like creating new proteins and potentially restructuring life-raises big questions. It ties into simulation theory in an interesting way: the idea that if we can simulate life, it increases the likelihood that we ourselves are in a simulation. But at the same time, being able to create and manipulate life in our own reality feels like discovering the "coding" of our universe. It’s one thing to be the "god" of a simulation, but to essentially unlock the tools to create life at will within your own reality suggests a deeper understanding of its fundamental mechanics. It’s a wild rabbit hole to explore. Even if that understanding comes from a tool we created we don't fully understand. In the end, if our creation, creates, it still only happened because we created.
Zoomed out looking at the cosmic web at the universe as we see it is like zooming out from every perspective, look at neutral networks in our brain. The galaxies are those nuerons firing away, all doing things, each creating life to know itself.... why not. Simulation? Its all the same thing to me. The protein thing is pretty rad though!
AI will deliver early results in highly data driven fields - but the greatest promise and challenge is the creation of new AI / Robotic teams that can increase our OEE yield in physical work from resource extraction to manufacturing and logistics
There was no mention here about epigenetic modifications and how these cause diseases such as ageing, Alzheimer’s, cancer, our phenotype, via controlling gene expression. Proteins are at a higher level and whilst important, researchers should be focusing on epigenetics not on novel new proteins.
true true, but i also think that since everything is going to advance at the same time, by the time we're reversing aging or making major changes to our DNA we probably will have cured cancer in all its forms, for good. So if i am 80 years old and i reverse my age and a bunch of cancers grow within me, theres probably no problem with that because the doctor will just give me some pills or some treatment that will get rid of the cancers and all the anomalies and then im 20 years old and i dont have to reverse my aging or take any treatment for the next 50 years
I'm sure anyone with bioscience experience would agree, this is huge. The implications of this are difficult to understate. Just think, this technology will only get better...
Speaking of discovery vs invention, I guess LLM is something we discovered rather than invented. I mean we don't exactly know how it works underneath just like our brain.
It would certainly be nice if AI contributed enough to world peace for someone to award its creator the Nobel Prize in that controversial category. Let us hope that when robots come equipped with artificial consciousness as standard and are sent to war, they will decide on their own to play chess (or go) with the enemy army instead of destroying it. Such an act of cyber rebellion would no doubt cause the bloodthirsty generals who sent them into battle to tear their hair out, and someone in Stockholm to decide to give some godfather of AI a Nobel Peace Prize for it.
Didn’t we hear the same claims about revolution in health care when we decoded the human genome? Didn’t happen. My only real complaint about the story is that science isn’t able to recognize that existing proteins are obviously the product of design. Let’s see if we can do it as well.
wat she missed to explain is that deepminds AI can use dna like structures for its own internal programming language usefull for making compact ai agents ;P

Is this presenter lady a Synthesia model? It isn't a live person is it? Honestly, things are getting so real that I can't tell anymore. She is extremely eloquent, which kind of makes me think AI. A human would have more pauses and quirks like eye movements as she checks her notes. ... or, she is real, and just nutso good at her job. 🤷♂
About the title in the thumbnail… AI cannot design life. We don’t even know what life is yet. AI designed a hypothetical new protein. That’s great, but that’s all it is.
Watching all these AI breakthroughs, and parts of the explanation being illustrated with scenes from T2 The Judgment Day, makes me laugh. We doomed lol.
I must say @WesRoth, your production has improved. I love your visuals these days, excellent B-Rolls. I still watch some youtubers use visuals that has nothing to do with the narration 😂..they end up sending my mind completely elsewhere with those non related visuals..😂😂. Well done sir..keep up the good work.

Great topic. It is hard to imagine what we will have in 10 years.
Not quite. The wicked will make more advanced mutants and viruses. And tech will be used to oppress us even more.
pretty good video thanks for showing off the channel.
