Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET) is a “hands-on, minds-on” curriculum. The MMET curriculum is focused on the application of technical knowledge as opposed to theoretical content. Over 85 percent of MMET courses have labs associated with them. This allows students to learn about the basic theory behind a topic, and quickly apply that knowledge in a “hands-on” setting. MMET students gain experience using industry-grade manufacturing, metrology and test, automation and fluid power equipment.
Engineering technology is more applications focused and spends less time providing in-depth theoretical content. MMET is for “doers” who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. The goal of the MMET program is to develop graduates who are well prepared for industry and are able to “hit the ground running” in a professional, technical role. The MMET program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. This accreditation makes MMET graduates eligible for professional licensure.
