"Myel Bul" Ethur Traditional Dance

  • "Myel Bul" is the graceful and captivating dance of Ethur. Ethur are one of the ethnic groups in Northern Uganda in the Karamoja Sub Region. it is a dance to the tunes of the traditional drums which guide the rythm and style of the dance. The drumming is so captivating that even strangers would not resist the temptation to join in the dance. The dance is commonly presented in marriage ceremonies, traditional gala and in other local and national events.
    The men are dressed in traditional skirts locally referred to as "Nyakabuko" and vests with head gears adorned with beads and Ostrich feathers. The male attire costs between 115K to 200K depending on the amount of beads involved.
    The females are dressed in Animal skins sewn in birds tail fashion with the front Apron adorned with beads, the female attire is more expensive from between 250k to 500K depending on the amount and quality of beads and materials involved.
