The most bizarre trivia I know is this Wheelie, Springer, Cliffjumper, and Swerve were playable characters in a DeNA Transformers Battle Tactics mobile game. Their stats were OP in the middle of a ridiculous power scaling phase.
Stuff like this is why I’m okay with Legacy Bulkhead and Evolution Shadow Striker. Heck, those two feel like distant cousins to the oddities present here like Wheelie-from-Jazz: they’re figures who look like they wouldn’t work considering what they’re based on, but work oddly well. I think we’re so attached to the need for everything to be accurate to the source material that characters who aren’t because they’re retools, pretools or just wholly original seem wrong to us. Like, look at Prime Bulkhead. If they made him accurately, he’d really only have himself as retools and repaints. But by making him as they did, while it significantly reduced his show-accuracy, opened up the mold’s reuse potential. Pyro is very high on my list for potential Bulkhead remolds/retools (he’s even got the gatling gun!), but I could also see this mold being used to make a heavily G1ified DOTM Sentinel Prime (replace the tarp with a fully transforming shield that doubles as the rear of his crash tender alt-mode). In Shadow Striker’s case, she was obviously designed as a composite of her original self and her Cyberverse version, which meant Side Burn as a retool was inevitable. Super mode Side Burn, Roulette and original Shadow Striker are probably on the way, but the repaint/retool I want most is a G1ified AOE Crosshairs (which is a “best of BotCon”-tier reuse idea, IMO).
I have to agree with you, yeah. Siege Hot Shot is another example. Yes accuracy is a major factor in modern toys, but homages and new takes and make-dos still happen and can be interesting or fun in their own right
Also getting a figure from alt mode to robot mode the first time around is generally easier to do, and it offers more incentive to transform the figure at all since you’re not immediately posing your new action figure
Funnily enough, GDO Motorbreath was not the first Legends Prime to get redone as a Motormaster homage. They did it back in the 2006 Classics line with the Cybertron Legends Prime.
The Cliffjumper was actually pretty great. The gun barrels for Prime Cliff were perfect as G1 Cliff’s gas glass pipes. But the Springer was the real joy, especially after the Evac repaint. Darn shame we never got the Brawn from Bulkhead though.
the g2 megatron, while weird for a megatron, does work perfectly as Megastorm. the weird organic detailing he inherited from Bludgeon makes him work as a Predacon.
I like to think Motorbreath is the cab and Motormaster is the trailer. Motorbreath would form Motormaster's feet and is his own separate Stunticon and not Motormaster with a different name.
Funnily enough, the only GDO figures I actually own are the ones you weren't keen on - Cliffjumper and Megatron. Megatron I do agree with you, especially with the Generation Selects version being released about a decade later. However, Cliffjumper I'm okay with because I was never able to get TFP First Edition Cliffjumper. So, this felt like a way to get a version of Cliffjumper using that exact same mold. Sure, the head sticks out like a sore-thumb compared to the Prime esthetic, but I'm okay with it considering the mold is still awesome.
Should've commented this when this video was fresh but I really REALLY like videos about toylines like these, i was never into TF as a kid but man these older toys just have such a charm/look to em i love
GDO Cliffjumper may have been uninspired, but if you were like me and wanted more deluxe G1 minibots in Generations, it was the only deluxe class non-cybertronian g1 Cliffjumper that wasn't a hatchback Bumblebee repaint in existence from 2006 to 2020 prior to Earthrise Cliff. I was happy to see it since I knew the minibots were scarce in that size class.
Get well soon, bro! 🙏🤲 I still actively display that Scout Brawl (Breacher redeco) with the Takara Universe Onslaught (Metallic version) & DOTM Vortex on their own mini shelf (representing their pre-combination versions). PS. Keeping an extra space on that same shelf for the independent (non-gestalt) Swindle that is slated to come out next. 😊 Great video on the whole. Have most of the toys on this list, but sadly, the First Edition Cliffjumper & Voyager Megs are still cursed with the corrosive rubber chemical effect on their plastic. The CJ horn part eats the bumper connection and breaks it off. For the Voyager Bludgeon mould, only the BotCon Overlord has not suffered the same fate where the rubber tank tread bits warp and eat up the solid plastic surface that they touch. 😢
Fun fact: Motorbreath and Thundercracker were later redone back into Optimus and Starscream but with the new tooling and accessories as dollar store exclusives, as well as Ultra Magnus and Skywarp but without the accessories
14:35 I'm not sure, but I think I recall seeing an upgrade kit/custom of this mold to make him a triple changer. I also remember a shapeways/custom kit to heavilly retool him into Whirl.
I honestly like GDO Cliffjumper, that First Edition figure is great. He's definitely my main Cliffjumper, he just looks cool, like if G1 Cliffjumper wasn't forced to be a minibot.
that cliff was a popular toy because it was so good, FE figure was good, and the G1 head gave a variation that many people thought worked well. i dont see how you couldnt like it, it's pretty bad ass
i miss this era of random repaints. It meant hastak had to get creative and think about which figure vaguely resembles another. Now people get pissy when Vector Prime is a (very extensive) retool of Jhiaxus.
This mold was recolored back into Optimus Prime with the sword accessory (which I do own from my early days of getting into collecting Transformers figures).
For me, Cliffjumper gets a bit of negative attention, because thanks to him, the normal "living" version of Cliffjumper from the Prime First Edition toyline was missing from that Toys R Us exclusive lineup for the 2012 holiday season. In fact, from what I remember, that normal, "living" First Edition Cliffjumper had the tragic honor of being the final Transformers Prime figure that Hasbro released in the States, which I believe happened in October of 2013, *by which point the Prime cartoon had officially ended. It's almost like they just forgot about him!* Plus, I think he's actually quite a bit inferior, because I don't like the look of the G1 Cliffjumper head on the TFP Cliffjumper design, even if they painted the horns silver instead of leaving them red like the rest of the helmet.
That G2 Megatron is several layers of daft, digging straight through "so daft I love it" and on to "Somebody take away the designer's blender, please." G2 Megatron is daft, and I am here for it, to the point that I got that Gen Selects one. That mold is kinda daft, but very, very Bludgeon, to the point that it doesn't make a lot of sense for any other character (there was a Botcon Overlord out of it too, IIRC). Then the color arrangement is itself done daftly, so that the homage is both obvious and almost failed. Then adding a G1 Megatron head (the G2 head is a darker grey with a colored face) just finishes the move from Daft Punk to "Things That Make You Go Hmm".
Hotspot and Powerdive are two of my favorite voyagers in my collection. I wasn't sold on Springer until it was pointed out to me that it looks like a pre-Beast Wars Waspinator and now I can't think of him any other way.
I don't think the speakers work for that character. Wheelie has no reason to have speakers and if he didn't have them I would have completely forgotten that was originally a Jazz mold. I like the speakers on Jazz and the mold weirdly works as Wheelie, I just kind of want him to lose the speakers just to differentiate the two more.
LOL did you know you had a content creator coming to your store and he was talking about your Megatron mask in a whole bunch of other stuff today or yesterday Primus the Creator LOL LOL I think that's awesome I'm watching two videos with you in the same shirt on the same different day don't know who's lagging. I mean it's kind of weird because he said he found a cool toy shop and I'm like wait he looks like he's in Florida and I'll be dad burned if he didn't pull up in front of your toy shop and I do believe you're talking to him. This is kind of cool and that is so awesome how you treated him in the store he bought a power of the prime jazz I wish I lived closer than the top part of Alabama to you LOL. If I had you running my shop, I would never worry.
I've got the sandstorm, hotspot, megatron and the two leaders. Sandy works well enough, love hotspot, like the tank megatron okay enough that i got the perfect effect sword upgrades and while I do love the decos of the g1 colored leaders they're quality was....lacking. Ironhide with really loose joints, then starscream with a fragile plastic on a pretty critical joint for the transformation, and while not a quality thing the sounds being stripped down was....ugh
I'm surprised by how many of these I have. Sandstorm, Powerdive, Megatron - which was my only non-movie Voyager Megatron until, what, Sharkticon Megatron and Siege. Even as a little kid, the Chinese on the boxes made them feel more "premium" or at least interesting.
The most bizarre trivia I know is this Wheelie, Springer, Cliffjumper, and Swerve were playable characters in a DeNA Transformers Battle Tactics mobile game. Their stats were OP in the middle of a ridiculous power scaling phase.
I somewhat have Wheelie.
Isnt dena lika a Japanese developer?
😊

I miss having the figured packaged in their vehicle mode. It made the “robots on disguise” element way more compelling and engaging
Also getting a figure from alt mode to robot mode the first time around is generally easier to do, and it offers more incentive to transform the figure at all since you’re not immediately posing your new action figure
@Cdr2002 Right? I don't know why, but it feels easier going from alt mode to robot mode than the other way around.
Funnily enough, GDO Motorbreath was not the first Legends Prime to get redone as a Motormaster homage. They did it back in the 2006 Classics line with the Cybertron Legends Prime.
To be fair, I forgot that guy and it's sitting on my shelf.
The Cliffjumper was actually pretty great. The gun barrels for Prime Cliff were perfect as G1 Cliff’s gas glass pipes.
But the Springer was the real joy, especially after the Evac repaint.
Darn shame we never got the Brawn from Bulkhead though.
GDO Cliff is still my main G1 cliff in my collection
I will say that Cliffjumper was the second chance to get a First Edition Prime Cliffjumper if you missed it the first time.
I love how TF wiki describes the the Brawn retool as “the body of his dreams”.
I had GDO Cliffjumper at one point but I threw it out when the piece of his vehicle mode that holds his hood ornament broke off.
I own Powerdive. Pretty cool figure if you cant get highbrow.
I prefer Powerdive's color scheme, and his light piping is awesome, especially with his "goggles".
Mine's forearm broke off.
the g2 megatron, while weird for a megatron, does work perfectly as Megastorm. the weird organic detailing he inherited from Bludgeon makes him work as a Predacon.

The d and the o in the thumbnail look similar so I thought it said GENERATIONS GOD
Or generations goo
Fun fact: Motorbreath and Thundercracker were later redone back into Optimus and Starscream but with the new tooling and accessories as dollar store exclusives, as well as Ultra Magnus and Skywarp but without the accessories
I had the 3 deluxes. Cliff was my favorite since I wasn't able to get the prime first edition cliff.
15:45 I think this is the only time we’ve ever really gotten an Earth Mode Wheelie
17:05 Powerdive did had a G2 figure, which was a helicopter with an additional rotorblade.
That lil Sandstorm i use in the Prime line.
GDO Brawn: a la Loony Tunes; someone took a Bicycle pump, shoved it up Brawn's tailpipe, and over-inflated the dude to become extra über-swole😂
5:25 there was also a repaint of Cybertron’s legends class Optimus Prime into Motormaster colors with the Menosaur name to skirt the trademark issues
that cliff was a popular toy because it was so good, FE figure was good, and the G1 head gave a variation that many people thought worked well. i dont see how you couldnt like it, it's pretty bad ass
The Lazerbeak from Skystalker makes me wish we got a Soundwave from the Mindwipe mold.
i miss this era of random repaints. It meant hastak had to get creative and think about which figure vaguely resembles another. Now people get pissy when Vector Prime is a (very extensive) retool of Jhiaxus.
Okay so they did Laserbeak from skystalker. WHY NOT SOUNDWAVE FROM MINDWIPE????
Because they’re dumb
Especially with Prime Soundwave to make that feel less out of left field
@@Cdr2002 oh hey!!!! 👋🏽 and yeah you’re definitely right.
@@treebotreviews hiii lol
That would have been BRILLIANT!!!!
It could’ve resembled Cybertron Soundwave.
They should revamp those for Legacy.
Jazzlie.
I would love Lazerbeak to get the bot enhancement treatment.
I prefer calling him "Whizz".
That Brawn out of tfp bulkhead was eventually released in Cloud
Haha, you said "swerve......on the hole!"
5:08 I feel like Motorbreath is one of those that works best as a trash talk/insult name.
This mold was recolored back into Optimus Prime with the sword accessory (which I do own from my early days of getting into collecting Transformers figures).

The first WFC figures were packed in Robot Mode before this

I believe you mean Trailcutter for the Legends release.
Hotspot and Powerdive are two of my favorite voyagers in my collection. I wasn't sold on Springer until it was pointed out to me that it looks like a pre-Beast Wars Waspinator and now I can't think of him any other way.
I'd really like that Laserbeak, but he's going for like $70 on ebay oof
You know honestly there needs to be more pick up truck transformers
I don't think the speakers work for that character. Wheelie has no reason to have speakers and if he didn't have them I would have completely forgotten that was originally a Jazz mold. I like the speakers on Jazz and the mold weirdly works as Wheelie, I just kind of want him to lose the speakers just to differentiate the two more.
you can plug them on the gun
@@Majinhero You mean the sling shot? Or did you mean on Jazz's gun?
I once misread the title as transformers G.O.D.
Wide walking brawn
Weren't G2 Jazz and Combat Hero Prime part of this line as well?
Wheelimus Prime 😂
I stg i've seen the leader ironhide in red at like a target before
i hope you do a takara legends tier list next. :)
16:10 did they ever use Hosehead/Cab out of that mold?

GDO Cliffjumper is peak I will not hear this slander
swol Brawn would have been perfect to be retooled into Bulkhead
My head canon for brawn/bulkhead cancellation is that it was cancelled for being so ugly 😂
Motorbreath sounds like he has awful halitosis.
Shout out this vid was my ex girlfriend and current best friend 😊
